My mother - Gladys Parker Jackson - taught animals at home and at Garfield School (later Coolidge Junior High, now defunct, like Garfield) - Moline, Illinois.
She was a superb teacher in many areas, so the students ran toward me to praise her abilities. She also rescued, troubled ones. More than one said later, "She rescued me!"
In the meantime she raised us at school and at home, also participating with church and school. The four of us Jackson students earned master's degrees.
Christina paralleled many efforts with my mother, but spent less energy on animals - much more on church work. The two model mothers helped many people in a wide variety of ways. That would be impossible to parallel today.
