Paul Lidtke Officially, the retiring District President of the Northern Wisconsin District would tell you that the pastor in question may not have sexually harassed his executive assistant according to the official definition of sexual harassment. He will tell you that what the pastor did was "boorish." What is to be decided is if this "boorishment" means that this pastor ought to be reinstated as a WELS pastor. We all know that he has been. Rik Krahn, you may know, though, that not everyone on the Northern Wisconsin District Presidium voted to allow this. That pastor, however, has not wanted to make this as public as others would wish. I agree, more discussion is better, especially since the pastors of the Northern Wisconsin District were at one time asked to give their thoughts on the CRM status. It was denied. A few mere months later, it was granted without any more input. Conspiracy theories will always thrive where open discussion is not allowed. And I do believe this is a public matter in the Northern Wisconsin District. Will it be discussed at next week's convention? Probably not.

I have a complete list of what happened, which not only included being drunk on the job but also showing an x-rated photo to the victim. Ski admitted to Engelbrecht that he did this, but Deputy Doug has continued to defend the lout.
Pastor Ski's behavior also included obscene remarks made during a liquid lunch with this married lady. I had to look one up - never heard it before. Ski explained it to the lady, and it was pornographic and insulting toward the woman in question, doubly so in being "explained" to the female assistant.
Boorish behavior is normal for WELS pastors. They glory in it. They are never going to condemn one of their own for being a drunk, because so many of them have had their own DUIs.
- Ski was in court in Milwaukee?
- Big deal - so was the worship professor.
- So was the head of public relations for WELS.
DP Buchholz laughed about Ski, long ago. He knew all the facts, too.
Unfortunately for WELS, their imaginary world of booze and porn is not acceptable to the rest of society.
The Brett Favre photo incident alone would have removed Ski from all future church jobs.
Any one of the obscene remarks or suggestions would have done the same.
But all of the WELS leaders, from Synod President Mark Schroeder on up, have worked hard:
- To deny the facts;
- To erase the evidence;
- To shun and blame the victims.
WELS obtained three Appleton sandboxes for Ski and Glende to play in:
- A gorgeous movie theater.
- A former WELS church turned into a media center.
- A bankrupt bar that had closed down about four different times, with various names.
Like all the Church and Changers (Doebler, Gunn, Hunter), Ski got a female helper to do his work and play at being a lady pastor.
Do the other WELS mission pastors get a full-time assistant? Ski was already on the staff of a big, weathy congregation. Why did he need one more person to organize a single worship service per week? Answer - the Changers are lazy and incompetent.
Mark Schroeder's direction of public relations is still listed and active on LinkedIn. |
