Lord God, heavenly Father: We are poor, miserable sinners; we know Thy will, but cannot fulfill it because of the weakness of our flesh and blood, and because our enemy, the devil, will not leave us in peace. Therefore we beseech Thee, shed Thy Holy Spirit in our hearts, that, in steadfast faith, we may cling to Thy Son Jesus Christ, find comfort in His passion and death, believe the forgiveness of sin through Him, and in willing obedience to Thy will lead holy lives on earth, until by Thy grace, through a blessed death, we depart from this world of sorrow, and obtain eternal life, through Thy Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, one true God, world without end. Amen.

There is an old custom in Jewish debates, to see which one has the best response. That is just as true now as it was before the era of Jesus. When a woman at the supermarket bumped into my cart with her mechanical one, she said with humor, "I have a doctor." I said, "I have a lawyer" and everyone laughed. We then had a debate about nutrition.

Jesus had the upper-hand, and doubtless people sensed that quickly. Jesus radiated the love of His actions, His works, and His love for others. We are alien in some respects in getting things done rather than loving God first. That should be forever on our minds but that is a challenge. My delight is in hearing and saying those things which are the Scriptures. I get out my extra large print KJV New Testament and over chapters of Revelation and one other book. Revelation 13 is the center of all human knowledge - the time before the birth of Jesus and the growth of Christianity around the world. Love for God flows over to love for our neighbor.

Truthfully, nothing is more obscure and wrong than the errors piled up against the Christian Faith. They are practiced in the most twisted way as well. One famous minister with a large church. He stayed where he could "enjoy" a combination of Asian paganism. Ignoring his desire to stay there as a big star, he said, "I am just here to pray and to meditate."
Here we have in this wonderful land of freedom, centuries experience with freedom, prosperity, and a Constitution rather than royalty and servility.
