UOJ Is the Ministry of Condemnation -
Lawless Legalists in Turmoil
The primary characteristic of UOJ Enthusiasts is constantly displayed on LutherQuest, the fake copycat blog, and Steadfast Lutherans, all three groups always hating on justification by faith.
Although UOJ pretends to be all grace, with everyone forgiven, justified, and saved before birth, their Satanic creed is really all law. But what a law! They have no need for the Ten Commandments, because they are Antinomians. They are lawless because no law applies to them, not even the basic rules of civil discourse.
They rush to pronounce forgiveness on a national staffer who swaps man-boy rape scenes with other felons. That was one of the first statements from The Love Shack. Joel Hochmuth was repentant (again) after being caught (again), so they absolved him of all guilt. Hochmuth's next move was to plead NOT GUILTY in court, and to have his lawyer lie about his case. It was just adult porn, he claimed. He just needed some counseling, he claimed. That all fits the UOJ scenario - the bigger the scandal, the quicker the cover-up.
But when individuals questioned their WELS pastors directly, which they are supposed to do, those members were excommunicated from three different congregations in three different districts. Was Hochmuth excommunicated? Was DP Ed Werner kicked out when he went to the Big House for his felonies against children in his own parish? Were Al Just and William Tabor given the Left Foot of Fellowship for murdering their wives? Both murderers were treated like princes by the WELS leaders, who did not want the truth to come out.
The UOJ Enthusiasts are just plain nasty all the time. But the sad thing about them is their treatment of each other. They are just as rude with their fellow fanatics as they are with believers. Paul McCain and Rolf Preus are UOJ die-hards, so they should be oozing with grace, at least for each other. McCain seems to take daily injections of UOJ, but he is famous for spreading his venom all over the Net. He is being blasted today on ALBP Online again, one of the few places where various opinions are welcome.
Because UOJ has no concept of the Gospel, only pure Enthusiasm, they are completely mixed up about the Law as well. They cannot discuss the Means of Grace or the efficacy of the Word because their mini-micro-dogma rejects both.
Tim Glende keeps proving the UOJ is the heart of the Church Growth Apostasy. Those are his two themes, either copying class notes about UOJ or copying the latest from Driscoll, Stetzer, Sweet, Groeschel, Stanley, and Beeson.

Episcopal Lutheran Church Follows Episcopal Church in Gadarene Slide to Oblivion
As in the Episcopal Church there is still and always will be a faithful remnant in the ELCA
Five Congregations leave ELCA every week. Lutheran Congregations that leave can keep properties

The ecclesiastical realignment that has been going on in North America over the last decade has not been confined to Anglicanism.
Since August, 2009, when the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Churchwide Assembly voted to allow congregations that choose to do so to recognize same gender unions and accept those who have entered into such unions to serve as rostered leaders (pastors, deacons, chaplains, etc.), the resulting schism in the ELCA has been devastating.
The ELCA was formed in 1987 by a merger of three Lutheran denominations that combined to form one ecclesiastical adjudicatory that promptly went down the same revisionist path as the Episcopal Church, sadly but predictably bringing the same results. Membership started a slow decline so that by 2008 the ELCA had lost over 12 percent of its membership and 737 congregations, all this while the population of the United States was booming.
Then in 2009 things got worse. While the befuddled revisionists celebrated their muddled gospel of inclusion, affirmation and social justice, many of the faithful shook the dust off their feet and gathered in Columbus, Ohio a year later to start a new Lutheran denomination called the North American Lutheran Church (NALC). As Edmund Burke wrote, "There is a limit at which forbearance ceases to be a virtue."
Others left for Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) or the American Association of Lutheran Churches (AALC). LCMC has 772 member congregations, with 683 of those in the US; however, some of these congregations also maintain membership in the ELCA.
The result has been a schism that has been much faster and deeper than that in the Episcopal Church. Why is that so? because ELCA congregations can disaffiliate from the ELCA and keep their property. It takes two, two thirds majority congregational votes ninety days apart and they can leave with their property and join the Lutheran denomination of their choice.
No lawsuits, no clergy deposed, no pack of wolves trying to take property from those who paid for it and for which the synod would have no use; an altogether civilized and gracious way to treat those leaving.
In the 2009 - 2010 period alone the ELCA lost nearly 8 percent of its membership and 388 congregations, with most of these congregations moving to other jurisdictions and some closing.
It's also likely that additional thousands of church members quietly left their liberal congregations without a word, in typical Lutheran humility, but are still being counted as members on the rolls. Many of these folks headed straight for the local Lutheran Church Missouri Synod congregation, where the Holy Scriptures are still faithfully preached and taught.
2011 numbers are not yet available but they will be just as bad. Over the last year an average of 5 congregations each week have been leaving the ELCA to join the North American Lutheran Church, and after only a year and a half well over 300 congregations have taken this step.
One would think that the leadership of the ELCA would have looked at what happened to the Episcopal Church and decided there is no way they could all join hands, drink the same Kool-Aid and then jump off the same cliff into oblivion, but amazingly and regrettably that was not the case. This writer will leave it to the psychologists and other deep thinkers among you to try to fathom why.
As in the Episcopal Church, there is still and always will be a faithful remnant in the ELCA but as so many of the faithful have left, this group will have less and less influence, be more and more marginalized and most likely will find their presence more and more difficult; however, the Lord always has a purpose for the faithful and prophetic voice crying out in the wilderness, and some will always feel called to the lonely ministry of the scorned prophet.
May God comfort and strengthen them. One can't help but wonder what the similarities between the Anglican Church of North America and the North American Lutheran Church may lead to. Anglican and Lutheran theology are very similar and there has been a substantial and visible presence of Anglican purple shirts at both convocations of the NALC.
It's also pretty clear that the realignment in North American Protestantism over the last decade has not been along denominational lines but along the lines of those who are orthodox in matters of faith and morals as opposed to those who have adopted the values of a secular and increasingly pagan culture.
This leaves the ACNA and NALC with a lot in common. One thing is very clear: these two churches have a lot more in common with each other than they do with the churches from which they disaffiliated.
ELCA's Mark Hanson and the Episcopalian's Mrs. Schori. Active Episcopalian bishops have left Holy Mother Church, but only retired ELCA bishops have left their apostate church - (as far as I know). |

Historic Old Zion Lutheran Church Has the Same Origin as the Missouri Synod - Halle University
Historic Old Zion Lutheran Church:
It proved to be very difficult at first to find a German pastor who would stay to serve the congregation for any length of time. Therefore these German Lutherans depended on the Swedish Lutheran pastors of the former New Sweden (Nya Sverige) colony to minister to them. Thus the still existing Swedish Gloria Dei church (Old Swedes’ church), built in 1699-1700, served also as “our” first church building.
A dramatic change occurred in 1742, when at long last there was found a German pastor willing to serve the German Lutherans in Philadelphia on a permanent basis. He was Heinrich Melchior Muehlenberg, sent out from Halle/Saale, at that time a center for Lutheran outreach and missionary activity. Pastor Muehlenberg turned out to be the right man in the right place at the right time. Under his energetic and capable leadership, the congregation flourished.

GJ - The LCMS cannot admit that its founder was really Bishop Martin Stephan, STD, not C. F. W. Walther.
Stephan--also from Halle University--brought his cult to America. It remained a cult when Walther, who had no call and no job, usurped the bishop's position through subterfuge. Walther was called to his dead brother's congregation and reigned supreme.

Thank you, Dr Jackson -- well done, especially by way of illustration with the Pill.
There is something inherently wrong with the tuition bubble -- whether by design or accident. The end result is the destruction of the family.
Some will say, 'For many years, Europeans have married later.' That is true, although I'm not sure why, as we are only now getting our own tuition bubble, still much less that what it is in the US.
On the other hand, faithful Calvinists will say, 'Who cares? Start a family now! Why wait?' See journalist Robert Stacy McCain here:

Very funny, but sad just the same. Here's a cartoon and article along the same lines. Ironically, just as Australia was a debtor's colony, America is turning into a debtor's country, and an open-air debtors prison:

Dr. Lito Cruz Reads Ichabod Too,

Dr. Greg,
Fake Ichabod could simply not stop reading this blog. They keep telling people to ignore you yet, they come over and read you and then react.
As I said, each time we turn, we see the inconsistency of UOJers because UOJ is also filled with inconsistencies in the first place.
Fake Ichabod even argued that Lutherans got the liturgy from Rome.
Yet I read somewhere that Luther also reformed the Roman liturgy, hence, it is not entirely Roman replication.
Fake Ichabod is typical of UOJers, he always misses the point of your arguments.
If I may venture I hear your argument as saying that the new 3 year cycle is actually Vatican II inspired, and so Rome is breaking away with old church tradition and establishing its own justifications for its innovation. Thus Lutherans are being naive and mindless in following Rome in that direction.
Fake Ichabod thinks that because this is adiaphora, Lutherans should follow Rome in it. This is actually I think a real misunderstanding of adiaphora.
Precisely because it is adiaphora, the Lutherans need not follow it, I thought that was the point in you post about Lutherans being naive.

GJ - The Church of Rome initiated the three-year lectionary cycle. ELCA followed, then LCMS and WELS. The pope also began the new liturgical colors - and the Lutherans followed. The Roman Catholics dropped the gesima Sundays, moving Transfiguration to Quinquagesima, and the Lutherans followed. Doubtless other mainline groups did, too.
If Rome is the gold standard in worship, the Lutherans should expect their ministers to become Roman Catholics.
The Sausage Factory (WELS) teaches their students to ignore the Book of Concord, because it is "boring and irrelevant." But they cite the adiaphora article as an excuse to do whatever they want. It is an odd combination of fealty to Rome and Fuller Seminary, with no discernment whatsoever.

Thank you, Dr Jackson, for pointing out that this is a Vatican II innovation -- many churchgoers are probably unaware of that fact.

GJ - You are right, ChurchMouse. Many are ignorant of the facts, because their leaders deceive them.
For example, WELS pretended they HAD to adopt the feminist language of the unionistic-feminist creeds they published their Christian Worship. But obviously they adopted what they favored and supported. They even had their heresiarch Teddy Hartwig arguing for "fully human" in two publications. Who held the gun to their heads? No one.
They do not tell their members that they are obeying orders from the Vatican and running off the cliff with their mainline liberal partners. The apostates are united in a common unbelief.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that Jackson never received a good, solid Lutheran theological education. He is, in spite of all his blustery bragging about his degree, truly unequipped theologically to even understand must (sic) of what he talks about on the Internet.

GJ - Split infinitive, too? Read this statement out loud without laughing. It ranks with the Anonymouse comment - "You are a gutless coward."
McCain forgets to mention that he asked me to review Marquart's book for Christian News, that he favorably reviewed my book.
Several of my doctrinal books are used all over the world. A St. Louis seminary professor gave me a very positive review of Catholic, Lutheran, Protestant.
Professor Marquart did the same with CLP, published in the Ft. Wayne journal. Perhaps McCain did not read the book or the review.
This was published in Logia, a journal founded on Marvin Schwan's adultery indulgence, sold by McCain himself, as I recall. McCain's former friend and ally, Herman Otten, has ordered several cases lately, and it is still sold by Northwestern Publishing House.
Some credentials imply a unique qualification for a task. Dr. Jackson’s credentials seem uniquely suited to writing this book, a doctrinal comparison of the three major confessions in western Christendom. He was a WELS parish pastor, and has earned an STM from Yale and a PhD from Notre Dame. As one would expect from his resume, Jackson has done a commendable job of compiling and setting forth the doctrinal positions of orthodox Lutherans, Roman Catholics, and generic Protestants. As an outline of the topic, a collection of quotations from primary documents, and Bible study material, this book is well worth the purchase price. It deserves a place in the pastor’s study next to Handbook of Denominations and F. E. Mayer’s Religious Bodies of America.

Double-talk from Walther Led to Double-talk
In the Olde Synodical Conference.
Deception Is Standard Behavior
The synods still control the news, because they follow the same rule as secular politics. Access is everything. A journalist who dares to tell the truth about a politician will no longer get interview time or a even a place in the reporters' pool.
Most Lutheran blogs follow the same principle. The leaders do not want anything except their version to come out. That applies to individual blogs, where pastors shut them down or try to control them. Synodical leaders, who cannot discipline the wildest heretic, will make sure that individuals do not post any independent thoughts or express support of anyone on the demi-semi-secret shun list.
Did Jack Preus, Ralph Bohlmann, Al Barry, and Matt Harrison get elected by chance? |
Christian News has always been as independent as the company Xerox room. I have been there more than once when various people were phoning and faxing to control the news flow. SP Schroeder used to email and phone me, to get his spin across. All of it was top secret, of course. That stopped when I no longer seemed useful. Ditto, DP Buchholz' charm offensive. Of course, Buchholz needed to devote his time and energy to the future discipline of Jeff Gunn, Church and Change emergent guru.
Jeff Gunn, WLC board member, bored of Lutheran doctrine. |
Since I heard about Gunn's upcoming discipline directly from DP Buchholz, I have been waiting and watching for years, only to see Gunn elected to the Wisconsin Lutheran College (WELS) board - one of three board members from the same congregation, and to observe Gunn serving as a leader at a WELS conference. Buchholz promoted the conference in his own newsletter. Buchholz does not write to me anymore - sob - and I blocked him on FB, because he thought it was his business who my FB friends are.
Schroeder and Buchholz were going to reform WELS. Sure. Buchholz signed the secret petition about dealing with Jeske, then endorsed the edited version that said the opposite. I hate to quote Paul McCain on anything, but I like this one. Jack Preus came into McCain's office at the Purple Palace, lit a cig, and said, "You younger pastors are all pansies." If anyone glaces at Bob and Jack Preus' battles, the pansy generation cannot compare in any fashion. They are the worst double-talkers, but Walther created the template for all of them.
Walther's Pastoral Theology. |
Walther's Double-Talk
Walther was a double-dealer with Stephan, the double-talking Pietist who thought he was in charge of the souls and bodies of the women in his congregation (court testimony). In Zion on the Mississippi we have the published statement that everyone knew about Stephan's adultery (long before In Pursuit of Religious Freedom came out). But Zion also contains the claim that Loerber sermon led to the shocking and surprising confessions of adultery with Stephan, a story impossible to believe - given the times and the closeness of the Saxon group.
In case anyone forgot, Stephan left his wife and most of his children in Dresden, but took his mistress along to America. The Saxons paid for the entire Stephan family to come over, but only his son and mistress came on board. Walther blamed Mrs. Stephan for the marital difficulties, even though court testimony shows that she was always willing to reconcile, in spite of her knowledge of his many infidelities. Stephan earned an STD in Dresden, and it was not a divinity degree. That is why he spent all the time in the spas with his groupies, getting treatment for his syphilitic rashes.
Walther pledged his fidelity to Bishop Stephan while working against the man, behind his back. Why did Walther travel from St. Louis to Perry County, "knowing" about the adultery, but never speaking to the bishop about it? Walther was secretly stealing land from Stephan (the 80 acres given to the bishop) and organizing his followers for the upcoming mob action. Walther's future mother-in-law, who hid the kidnapped minor children and went to jail, was included in the planning for riot, robbery, and next kidnapping.
Does anyone wonder why Synodical Conference leaders are so dishonest, unethical, and sanctimonious? They have descended from Walther and his in-bred Saxon clan.
We are supposed to believe that the Olde Synodical Conference has been a beacon of Lutheran orthodoxy in the midst of a Pietistic, unionistic Lutheran groups - who would not humble themselves to listen to Walther. The Saxon group was 100% Pietistic and only began to move toward Luther's doctrine later. Both influences can clearly be seen in their history (WELS and ELS, too). Some are Book of Concord Lutherans, loyal to Luther's Biblical doctrine. Others are Waltherian Enthusiasts. The dominant group follows Walther's unethical, devious power grabs.
That is why no one believes Missouri, WELS, or the Little Sect will be viable alternatives to ELCA, not that the new splits are more than retro versions of ELCA.
