Institute of Lutheran (sic) Theology -

Faculty - Institute of Lutheran Theology <-Click the link for clearer images.

ELS Pastor Jay Webber earned his STM at the ILT website, which also trains and ordains women pastors. Webber is fanatic repeater of Objective Faithless Justification dogma.

Floyd Luther Stolzenberg was removed from the LCMS clergy list and kept off the WELS list, so Jay Webber and Roger Kovaciny backed him in supporting the Ukraine fiasco (Schwan funds).

I was a bit shocked that someone was starting up an online Lutheran (sic) seminary, so I posted about 14 times about ILT - click here for all of them. I was asked again recently, so I looked over the content of the website, shockingly shallow and silly - "Reformational." Church-Growthy is more accurate.

The entirely faculty is mostly MDiv, with a few one step higher - MTh. The PhDs are shown on the top level but probably represent very few of the classes taught online. The doctrinal standards are vague, perhaps a bit to the right of ELCA.

Jack Kilcrease, SJ, erased so many of his comments on this blog that someone made it into a new verb - "kilcreasing" a statement immediately after posting. I solved the problem by advancing his wisdom to the permanent part of the post being questioned.

Jack Kilcrease attended an ELCA college and seminary, but earned his PhD from the Jesuits (one of eight "conservative" Lutheran professors to do so. He was not accepted as a pastor in the LCMS.

ILT charges a lot of money but suggests a way to graduate with no debt.

This is Lutheran theology today.

Taught by the Jesuit Sparky Brenner, A Recent Mequon Grad Tries to Prop Up Objective Faithless Justification

Sparky began his doctorate at U. of Wisconsin, but switched to a Jesuit university to complete his PhD.  Going Jesuit is definitely a trend in the collapsing WELS-ELS-LCMS.

"Many, if not all, Wisconsin Synod pastors are aware of those internet blogs offering their “gracious and loving” critiques of the WELS doctrine of justification. Many, if not all, Wisconsin Synod pastors are aware of a few pastors who have left our fellowship in recent years due to the WELS teaching of universal and objective justification. These controversies have not escaped the notice of WELS pastors. However, not all pastors may be familiar with Samuel Huber and Aegidius Hunnius, two theologians who are often cited by American objective justification deniers to refute the doctrine of justification as taught in WELS, ELS, LC-MS, and by extension, the members of the former Synodical Conference. It is the goal of this thesis to examine the writings of Huber and Hunnius and to compare their teachings on justification to what was taught in the early days of the Synodical Conference. Finally, this thesis will demonstrate the faulty use of church history by those who deny universal and objective justification."

Student essay from the precious WELS Essay File.

Cracked Pots Are a Good Visual for Yet Another Mequon Seminarian Essay

Someone (name withheld) sent me the link for the latest failing effort to prop up Objective Faithless Justification. I was justifiably hurt to discover that the lad did not make any effort to obtain and read my books which address the issue and provide vast amounts of information, especially on the efficacy of the Word and Justification by Faith. I have sent free copies of my books to Mequon and I gladly send free books to individuals who ask for them. This blog has freely produced information from many sources.

The Mequon aversion to actual study is bound to echo the repeat-after-me statements of the poorly trained professors. Brenner is one of eight Jesuit PhDs who teach theology among the "conservatives." I obtained his dissertation and bought his pots book. He backed the reality of Walther using the phony "grace controversy" to bring OJ in the back door when he had failed to force it on his members and professors through his bullying. The "grace debate" is where one finds the WELS-ELS-LCMS claiming that faith is a "work," a stupidity so dense that it clogs the brains of Midwestern Germans to this day.

The phrase Justification by Faith does not appear in the bloated abstract, but the lad loves the word "justification" by itself, demonstrating a staggering lack of knowledge in Greek and English. He is like the other dullards who defend OJ and Church Growth as if fighting angry bees, crying and trying to find relief from the pain.

My eyes are tired from laughing at all the face-plants encouraged and supported by Brenner, so I am adding a few graphics. A crooked foundation leads to a crumbling foundation and apostate clergy.

 Kilcrease is another Jesuit PhD.

The Preus kids and grandchildren do not understand Robert's book.

Walther's syphilitic bishop, Martin Stephan, taught him OJ (fresh from Halle)
and Walther never varied from its grip on him.

A few people attended the Emmaus conference, where the truth was not allowed.
Why do the OJ fanatics have to keep dressing up their tin idol, Walther, and heritage of Bishop Stephan?

Read this slowly, out loud, and ask whether Objective Faithless Justification has any relationship to the Reformation, Luther, and the Book of Concord.

Do the Christian News Scribblers Have Any Integrity?
David Becker's Illuminating Note

 From David Becker!
Below is some further reaction from Jackson to Hale.  I'm leaving out the part where Jackson says that objective justification is Calvinistic, because I don't think that's accurate, although I know he has his own reasons for saying that all the time.  I will be forwarding to Pastors Hale and Jackson my review of the massive book on justification that was published recently.

The Non-Book Review of Philip Hale, Ft. Wayne Graduate

***

GJ - I have often wondered about David Becker's academic and scholarly credentials. Apparently they do not exist. Nor does his honesty and integrity.

Another email from him claimed I should correct my error about the Hale hissy-fit being sent to Christian News. In the same email, he bragged about being named a contributing editor to CN by the sainted editor - that is, before his death. I do not know why - except for OJ - because he cannot identify a synecdoche, a part for the whole, when he sees it.

If he represents CN - as we know he does, from his frequent, bowdlerized excerpts of other's people's work - then he is the part representing the entire money-making enterprise. Therefore, sending a book review to him is the same as sending it to CN.

I am laboring the point because the same writer would like to explain Christian doctrine to others, even though his reading comprehension is no higher than the average Mequon graduate.
Genuine writers quote people they disagree with - because they want to be fair to an individual's point of view. But Becker is of one mind with the OJ crowd in expunging whatever he does not like.

Going back to Becker's email, it seems that Hale himself is worried about being a direct conduit to Christian News. Many play that game. They want to be in CN but without blame. Hale immaculatus never engaged in such a terrible sin, because courting CN is for presidential candidates like Matt the Fatt and every other SP back to Jack Preus. The plebes are not allowed to make direct contact with CN and must be able to put distance between their efforts and the results appearing in print. That is how Otten and McCain worked out the miraculously fast appearance of Barry articles in CN.

I have collected and distributed more OJ material than anyone else, simply because I want each person to know the meaning of their terms,  not to mention their crafts and assaults.

  • Neal Hegge Easier to read John 3:16-18 .
    • Alan Lubeck Apparently easy for some to pervert John 3:16-18. That is why articles such as this are important. That is why we have an Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian Creed and a Book of Concord.
      2
    • Neal Hegge Not easy to pervert the passage , just easy to fake out people who have itching ears .
    • Alan Lubeck Itching ears are indeed a problem. They pervert the passage in order to satisfy human reason and to satisfy the itch caused by a reaction to seduction by the flesh and Satan.
    • Neal Hegge I think we're saying close to the same thing . My view is you can't pervert God's word but human reason is perverted . Although man does often misrepresent what he is calling God's word , God's word will not return empty , to the joy of some and to the shame of others .

I Missed the Part in the Middle

Jack Kilcrease explains his gospel to poor Alice, who subsequently enrolled at Fuller Seminary and became a seminary professor.

The Great Tangle, Mixing OJ and SJ with the Chief Article

Logically, the phrase subjective justification can only have meaning if there is objective or some other kind of prior justification. Remove “objective” from the justification equation, then subjective justification becomes nothing other than sanctification, God’s work within the sinner to make him a believer. That is the Roman Catholic position. If subjective justification completely defines God’s justification of the sinner, then Christ can be seen as the cause of justification, but not the one who completes it. This can only be done by faith. If this is so, all theology is not Christology.

GJ -

Justification by Faith is a mystery of the Christian Faith, revealed by the Holy Spirit in the Word, not an exercise in logic, especially when the terms are man-made, toxic, and misleading. Is it any wonder that David Scaer publishes in partnership with Jack Kilcrease, born in a WELS parsonage, educated at an ELCA college (Luther) and seminary (Luther)? Kilcrease teaches at a Roman Catholic college and an ELCA online theology school, where Jay Webber earned his STM recently.

Terminology Matters Because Words Convey Meaning - And Culture

The author was a teacher of math and logic.

The Word of God judges all books, so no book or human author judges the Scriptures.

This is the problem with the modern Pietists. They pick their guru, as the Walther circle did Martin Stephan, and assume the guru is always correct.

That authoritarian and Enthusiastic spirit remains strong with the LCMS-WELS-ELS-CLC (sic).

I wonder why the Objective Justification wolves have not examined the words they use.

To redeem means (two different words in Greek) - to pay with a price, based on the word for marketplace. The other verb means to release, such as releasing from slavery. Both refer to Jesus as paying the price for our sins with His blood, for Jesus releasing us from the power of sin, death, and Satan.

The word atonement means "one for another," used in secular fashion as four quarters equal to a dollar. The same word is translated as atonement and reconciliation.

Ransom is a ransom for many, not all. The OJists want to rewrite Greek and change the words, but they cannot get away with it honestly, as if to claim the most flexible and precise language means "all" rather than "some" (since some blows up their dogma) and that "all" can appear like a leprechaun when needed (New NIV).

The word for saved is also used for healed. Exactly where - apart from the fulminations of Jon-Boy Buchholz are all saved and all forgiven?

Some would follow the style of Halle Pietism and say the world was justified when Jesus rose from the dead (Rambach, Walther, Oh Jay Webber).

Others - like Hale - groove on 2 Corinthians, that He became sin that we might have His righteousness. So Hale leads us into his swamp of universal forgiveness and salvation without faith.

But it does not matter if the Great Walther imagined this to be true and taught it all his life. Poor Hale was given an M.Div. in guru-worship at Ft. Wayne, and skipped the part about the Scriptures as the ruling norm and the Confessions as the ruled norm. His master and guide is Walther, who was a Pietist with a B.A. and little grasp of the Biblical languages. Others in the OJ pantheon are followers from the Midwest, men who bowed the knee to Walther.

The real founder and leader of the Perryville Sex Cult was Martin Stephan, who studied at Halle University but never graduated from anywhere. He did not have the minimal requirement for becoming a pastor, but his status as a Bohemian Pietist (see Count von Zinzendorf) allowed the Pietist Bohemian Pietist congregation (land donated by Zinzendorf) to call him.

Stephan taught Objective Justification, whose language comes from Halle Pietism, not from the Bible. There is no OJ in the Bible, and SJ does not equal Justification by Faith (as Dave Scaer claims in his overpriced autobiography).

A Calvinist leader used OJ to define a Pietist Halle professor's deep thoughts, and one ELS pastor got all huffy with me about this graphic being misleading. Verbatim quote, exact source. Before getting irritated, I would get the book, check the source, and worry about my sect colluding with Calvinists and Pietists.

Track Objective Justification - A Favorite Dogma for Various Denominations, Cults, and the Mainline Apostates
Readers, anons, OJists, minders, innocent bystanders - please check out  Objective Justification with search engines, concordances, doctrinal books.

The concept is used by Calvinists, and Walther's deliberate polarizing of the Lutherans with his Election-without-Faith is exactly what Calvin taught about predestination. John Sparky Brenner, OJ fanboy, confirms that Walther's Election dogma was his backup for his OJ. CFW deliberately went against Article XI of the Formula of Concord, but he decided to fling his Powerful Objective Observation (POO for short) at everyone. He emerged as the only leader of the ones who still followed him, a very bad precedent for the future.

As I have written before, more than once, Objective Justification is also used by the Jehovah's Witnesses to teach the same nonsense. These links are very hard to find, whether Ichabod or about the JWs. I suspect paid Internet scrubbing of the issue, either from JWs, SynCons, or both.

If that is not enough, UOJ is the penultimate expression of the mainline apostates like ELCA, UCC, Presbyterians, liberal Baptists. Penultimate means almost ultimate, just before the end -in this case. Once they reach the UOJ stage, the final one simply declares that all these religious labels and categories are useless. God-talk is irrelevant - express yourself and make up your own Christology to build a foundation for being a Social Justice Warrior.
Exposing ELCA gives a lot of unsavory details, but many of them are at your doorstep.

Collateral Damage - Rolf Preus Aims at Bunkowske and Wounds Webber.
But Why Does Rolf Approve of Jack Kilcrease, Roman Catholic Hirling, at ILT?

Jay Webber posed with Waldo Werning pal Gene Bunkowske,
after earning an STM at the Institute of Lutheran Theology - ELCA.

From what I can tell, Pr. Webber had two choices:

1. Go to Notre Dame
2. Never admit to studying at a place called ILT

He picked option 3

Pr. Preus: "One doesn't make common religious cause with the heterodox. This is unionism. One may avail himself of services and benefits provided by the heterodox as long as this doesn't entail joining them in making a common (heterodox) confession."

Does the ILT require a religious confession prior to admission? Does ILT requires its students to be candidates for the ministry? Will a student be denied admission if he or she has publicly condemned the false doctrines of ILT? If no, how can ILT students be labelled unionists?

Pr. Preus: "If you were to compare what ILT says about its students to what other academic institutions, such as Yale, Notre Dame, and Marquette say about their students, you will find that an orthodox Lutheran may attend these other institutions without being identified with any sort of confession but cannot attend ILT without being identified with a misleading confession of heterodox faux-Lutherans pawning themselves off as a Bible-believing seminary, graduate school, and "faith community" (whatever that is)."

Will an ILT student who publicly condemns the ILT "faith community" in word and in deed be expelled? Will an ILT female student who publicly condemns any female teaching, exercising authority over men, ministry, or attending school without the permission of the husband be expelled? If no, how can male or female ILT students be labelled unionists?

Unionism doesn't require coercion for it to be unionism. We aren't talking about the Prussian Union here. I agree with Ryan. Jay should have passed. I wasn't even looking to criticize him. I had no idea he had studied at ILT and had forgotten it existed. I was going after Eugene Bunkowske, a missions "expert" who replaces theology with sociology and is lionized by the doctrinal indifferentists within Missouri. It was purely by accident that I hit Rev. Webber with my criticism.

With the New Year, I resolve to leave Jay alone. As long as he keeps quiet.

"Jay should have passed."

Passed on what? Getting an STM degree from ILT? Trying to be helpful to you by explaining what ILT is, when you didn't remember that you already knew what it is? Admitting that I received a degree from ILT when someone else noted that?

And actually I did go to Notre Dame, back in the 1980s, during a summer session, when I took two courses in the Graduate School of Theology there.

Jay, please! Don't torture yourself! Nobody's perfect. We don't expect you to be. Everybody's a unionist these days. Well, except for the CLC, of course, but I hear they're going to be declaring fellowship with the W/ELS.

Do you think it is to your credit that you make yourself sound like the Donald Trump of Lutheranism, or more precisely, like the Donald Trump of the artificial little world of Luther Quest?

Seriously, Jay, you walked right into an argument you couldn't possibly win. The proof is your descent into insults, something you rarely do, and only when driven to frustration. Had I been in your shoes, I would have passed on the whole conversation. You know the landscape in Missouri as well as I do. You know where Eugene Bunkowske stands theologically, you knew from my first post that he chairs the Board of ILT, and from this knowledge you should have discerned that a man who wishes to be known as a confessional Lutheran pastor will not publicly identify himself with this institution. You chose to do so. I think you have hurt your credibility. I think you know it and that's why you're mad at me and are calling me names.

"Do you think it is to your credit that you make yourself sound like the Donald Trump of Lutheranism"

Pr. Webber finally, succinctly displays who he is in this calumnous accusation. Most of the time Pr. Webber cleverly hides behind 20000 words where 121 will do.

Pr. Preus: "Unionism doesn't require coercion for it to be unionism."

If unionism is church fellowship with the adherents of false doctrine (LCMS Brief Statement, 28), how can there be unionism with ILT if ILT is not a church and its orthodox students are free to condemn ILT's false doctrine?

Unionism is giving the impression of a religious unity that doesn't exist. It doesn't have to involve a church.

Does Thrivent count?

***

GJ - Missouri, WELS, the Little Sect, and ELCA have been in bed with one another for decades and loving it.

Webber's mistake was to identify with the educational system of ELCA, which his beloved Institute of Lutheran Theology represents.

"Confessional" Lutheranism demands that all the fellowship take place covertly, where slandering bloggers cannot break in and steal, where truth cannot rust and corrupt their odious plans.

Following this narrow, meandering path means no more stories in the Thrivent publications about ELCA-WELS-LCMS joint projects in evangelism, worship, leadership, and multi-culturalism. No halleluias about Lutheran World Relief and Lutheran World Federation, or their overlaps with the National Council of Commie Churches and the World Council of Commie Churches.

They may meet and greet at Fuller and Willowcreek, but for pity's sake, not publish stories about their warmth, their oneness, their AA meetings and favorite attorneys.

GJ - Who said Jay has no sense of humor? He provided an epic laugh for New Year's Day. I appreciate that.

But throwing knives at SpenerQuest is not wise. Gorillas poop in their own nests each day, but they also change nests daily. Where is Jay going to go now to publish his ill-informed, special pleading opinions?

ALPB is a rather intolerant of such showboating, even with its ELCA-centric posts. They spanked Paul McCain quite soundly - and more than once - for doing his Jay impression. "Answer my question!" McCain got caught telling two stories at once and wigging out on other short-tempered authors. But he had already manured his LutherQuest nest by having them post his blog links to plagiarized Roman Catholic Encyclopedia essays. Note - I had to point that out repeatedly before LutherQuest noticed and stopped. No explanations. No apologies. Flushed down the memory hole.

My lack of respect for Matt the Fat Harrison is derived from his having a covert campaign manager - Paul McCain. But the Al Barry wing of Missouri will never admit that McCain and Harrison are just as smitten by ELCA as Kieschnick was. And Missouri continues to fade away, more Growthy than Kieschnick, more do-nothing than Benke.

By the way, Matt Harrison unfriended me, just like Paul McCain. I have never pulled punches about Kieschnick, but we are still FB friends - have been for years. David Scaer also unfriended me. The nasty crowd is fond of its own opinions but they are terribly thin-skinned.

Jay and Rolf think they are the saviors of Lutherdom, but they are the problem. One can only shudder to think what they will do to the remains of their denominations.
