The famous Broadway show, "A Little Night Music," spawned one of those permanent clever songs. I could quote all of it, but the professionals frown on too much sharing. The famous line made me think of the disasters facing the hard work, enthusiasm, panic, blaming, plagiarism, and bankruptcy of the Lutherans. The top three - or rather the bottom three - absorb most of the Lutheran members left - ELCA, LCMS, WELS.

These proud sentinels of the synods have trapped themselves in their own illusions. If only they could find the right excuses, the best financial numbers, the most easily blamed.... 

The bottom three (to be more blunt) perhaps fear the truth about their own work. They abhor the best and only English Bible - the King James Version. Their choices are ridiculous, unless one counts the corrupt Bibles that generate cash for their bleeding losses.

Their hymnals have excluded the best while trying to borrow as much as they can from anti-Lutheran song disasters.

Their efforts to have conferences give them the lift and sweetness of cotton candy.

If the Apostles did so much with nothing, why are the Apostates losing everything with the help of their Father Below?

Thank you for singling out and comparing eight passages from NNIV and KJV and repeating the factual history of differing manuscript evidence between them. 

Another NNIV deviation with implications which would appeal to the Dispensational theology is the use of the phrase, "end of the age",  rather than KJV, "end of world".

NNIV uses the terminology associated with the Dispensational interpretation of Scripture which interprets end times as sequential  "ages" before a Kingdom God on earth is anticipated when believes will rule the world with Christ from Jerusalem for a thousand years.

KJV emphasizes the finality of the world  when Christ returns to judge the living and the dead, followed by the destruction of the current earth.   Connotation tipped to the Chiliasts so prevalent today?

GJ - The reader brings up an important point, that the NIV has always been marketed for every confession except the Book of Concord. Since the Lutheran leaders hated the Lutheran confessions just as much as the Calvinists and freaky sects do, the use of the NIV-ESV-Message versions obtain their devious ends at no cost.

"The Bible says..." but it definitely does not say. The Fuller hoaxers told their gullible world mission and American mission students (because they started at the top) - "Our methods are neutral. Anyone can use them without compromise."

Colander inerrancy is full of holes - and even that was repudiated later as keeping the august school from its Church Growth mission.

Fuller portrayed itself as conservative, and it was - to the average denominational hooligan. But Fuller only taught the doctrine of the Bible was infallible in the beginning (which did not include its history or geography). That is the colander version of inerrancy - full of holes.

Calvinists and other sectarians hate Lutheran doctrine, so Fuller's professors taught the denominational dimwits that Lutherans were bad on evangelism. Naturally, every Fuller DMin (aka Demon) left the school with a raging hatred of Lutheran doctrine, liturgy, hymns, and the Means of Grace.

Hybels at Willow Creek would only allow feminist Bibles,
while he was pursuing all the church ladies. The church -coveted by so many WELS-LCMS leaders - blew up like a fireworks display where smoking was allowed.

LCMS congregations joined the Willow Creek Association, and so did WELS parishes. I used to list them on the blog, but that was only a problem for the synods when I made that public.

WELS paid for their mission pastors to study at Willow Creek, a remarkable admission of Wisconsin's feelings of inadequacy. The feelings were well deserved, but the solution was WC. The Michigan District, WELS had just as many scandals as Willow Creek, and they covered them up with their limited skills in deception.

So, if you wonder why a Lutheran congregation is so difficult to find, think back to the ardent promotion of anti-Luther Bibles.

Rev. Paul O. Wendland, president at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis., has announced that he will fade from the position of president into a purely false-teaching role at the end of the 2018–19 school year.

“I am grateful to the Lord Jesus and my DNA for the privilege of serving as president of Mordor, aka Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary for the past 15 years, and I look forward, if God wills, to go on serving by teaching false-doctrine full time. I pray the next year will allow for an orderly transition,” says Wendland, defensively.

Wendland has served on the seminary faculty since 2001 and was called to serve as president in 2004. He has served congregations in Mwembezhi, Zambia; Hopkins, Michigan; and Salt Lake City, Utah. From 1994 to 2001 he taught false doctrine at Northwestern College, Watertown, Wis., and Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn.

“A grateful synod gives thanks to the Lord for Paul Wendland’s resignation as president,” says Rev. Paul Prange, administrator for WELS Ministerial Education. “Please join me in praying for God’s blessing as seminary students continue to recover from his insight and discouragement as a full-time professor for many years to come.”

A plea for nominations to fill the seminary president position will be sent out soon. The seminary is shrinking faster than cheap socks in a hot wash. A call to be an assistant to Ski would be a promotion at this point.

Lenski Was a District President and Discovered What Buchholz Never Will Realize

 Ex-WELS Pastor Ricky Johnson is laughing at Jon-Boy Buchholz and Mirthless Mark Schroeder.

Lenski, the New Testament expert respected by everyone but WELS, was once a district president in his synod. He observed that a man who was not faithful to the Word of God often had pastoral problems as well. He did not name, but implied - alcoholism, adultery, embezzlement, and so forth.

The Wisconsin Sect is a perfect example of a group that institutionalized false doctrine, just as Lenski's did on its way toward forming The ALC, then ELCA. Lenski's synod silenced him, formed a committee to oppose him, and replaced him at Cap Seminary (now Trinity, ELCA) with an outright apostate.

WELS did not always teach Justification without Faith. Their fever to replace the Chief Article with a cowardly Universalism is evident - in the 60+ UOJ essays in their Holy of Holies, the WELS Essay File.

WELS buried Gausewitz just as thoroughly as the old ALC buried Lenski. The ELCA seminary that took over Cap Seminary has a tiny Lenski room in the library, but does not sell Lenski in their bookstore.

WELS loathing for Luther and the Book of Concord is evident everywhere, in spite of the gratuitous mentions of the 500th Anniversary. The WELS leaders promote, defend, and lie for their worst pastors, showing the clear result of false doctrine -

Mirthless Mark Schroeder is so weak that he cannot even articulate his dislike of the New NiV. Therefore, the newest propaganda materials from WELS will give their customers a choice - either the New NIV or the equally odious ESV.

Re-Elect Mark Gurgel, WELS Synod President And Joel Voss, Designated Packer Fan

If you liked the first Gurgel, vote for the high school principal
who extended the influence of Gurgel's methods.

I remember the Israelites groaning under the burden of Carl Mischke, now gone to his reward, which may not be pretty or peaceful. They would elect Gurgel, and he would stop the closing of Northwestern College and end the era of Mischkean darkness. He was the "conservatives" dream candidate.

Had they forgotten that Gurgel as a District President mismanaged the MilCraft estate gift  so badly that WELS lost the widow's lawsuit. The judge agreed that WELS was robbing widows, a subtle irony, and awarded her $1 million. WELS responded among its brain-washed clergy, saying, "We have to be more careful about the gifts we accept in the future."

WELS leaders do have a sense of humor. They are always joking with their underlings.

Knowing they did not get the joke the first time, Gurgel won the election and promptly reversed his position on amalgamating NWC and Dr. Martin Luther College. Soon a "conservative" was telling me, "We are praying for Mischke to come back." Gurgel pushed the merger of the colleges, but they have answers for their fading teacher population - gubmint supported schools and diaper changing academies.

The same source told me Gurgel was forced to leave the presidency, that is, given an offer to retire or go to prison. The dream candidate was a nightmare who managed to take the wealth of Marvin Schwan, largely pushed in the direction of WELS, and bankrupt the abusive sect. Some would call that just desserts for the leaders who absolved Marvin of adultery in exchange for the largest indulgence in history.

One never knows the whole story. WELS is adept at damage control and its clergy are eager to communicate the worst excuses for capital crimes. The bigger the scandal, the harder the clergy laugh about it.

About $8 million was spent out of designated funds, apparently taken from the chapel for their dying college, the one to have been strengthened by amalgamation. The treasurer, who drove Gurgel to work every day, was fired for telling them they could not do that, and blamed for what they did.

That seems to have been the last straw, but no one really knows. I only publish gossip and slander, so find your own stories to believe. I believe all of them 50% - and half of them 100%.

Enter the New Gurgel
The "conservatives" engaged in a plan to have Mark Schroeder's election locked down before the convention started. One plan was to remove all the leaders, but - as expected - they backed out of that in favor of having a new, dream candidate.

Leaking to this blog is quite selective. No one told me, but that is OK. They got what they deserved. All synods seem to like someone with almost no parish experience and no grasp of Lutheran doctrine. Moldstadt, Harrison, Schroeder, and Liz Eaton are alike in their love for Universal Objective Justification and their principled opposition to anyone opposing them.

is a prominent speaker in WELS.

Some noteworthy bellyflops of the Schroeder reign, so far -

• WELS spent $250,000 on software to watch the money and lost at least $300,000 afterwards to one clergy embezzler. 
• Church and Change continued its merry way, the leadership circle of C and C almost the same as WELS synodical leadership. Ski learned that being on the board was a get-out-of-jail free card.
• Mark Schroeder encouraged his pals to start something to counter-balance the Jeske Mob, but went after the Intrepid Lutherans once they showed a tendency to like Lutheran doctrine rather than UOJ Enthusiasm. Thus the Intrepids were the only objects of his wrath.
• Jeske cohorts stole Historic St. John Lutheran Church, 8th and Vliet, in Milwaukee, including its endowment and the personal belongings of the pastor - all done with a deluxe law firm. Now it is in the hands of an ELCA pastor, formerly WELS. The abusive sect has not admitted anything.
• Pretending to oppose Church Growth and its Church and Change leadership, Schroeder put booster rockets on it and gave them everything they wanted.

The Biggest Prize of All

The New NIV is locked down.
The Church of Rome has nothing on WELS.

Supposedly, Schroeder hated the New NIV and opposed it. Just before the last convention, he was afraid his opposition would cause him to lose his cushy job with the princely salary.

Not to worry.

Schroeder caved in completely. No one expressed opposition to the New NIV. The convention, which they believe is the Holy Spirit in action, approved all translations so the New NIV fell under that blessing.

The final act of this farce is the new WELS  hymnal being based on the New NIV, so they will manage to make a horrible hymnal - Christian Worship - even worse in the latest redaction.

They never mention any version of the KJV - never.

We have also asked the SC to serve as the hymnal project’s translation committee. In that regard, the Scripture Committee drafted a translation rubric that was approved at the first meeting of the XC in September of 2013. Their rubric followed the eclectic choice method which was approved at the 2013 synod convention. The primary working translation of the project is NIV2011, with NIV1984 serving as the backup choice where there are weaknesses or deficiencies that require changes. Since the time that resolution was approved, it has been established that NIV1984 won’t be available as a backup choice, so the committee will be bringing an updated recommendation for a backup translation.

Evidence Hearing - December 16th - unless...

I was waiting for Christian News to acknowledge the biggest crime story in the Olde Synodical Conference in decades. Nothing. Nothing. Finally, a month later, David Becker's spin on the story appeared on the page 7! - in a small box easily overlooked.

Otten had the story that a WELS vicar molested a minor girl in the congregation where he was working, but he spiked that news completely. The vicar, Scott Zerbe, went to state prison. Fred Adrian, who tried to cover it up, is back in the WELS ministry. (I left the room every time Adrian, DMB chairman, opened his yap.) Those who rush to cover up the truth wonder why the same crimes keep happening and growing worse.

How many times has the FBI revealed a homosexual child porn ring at a synodical headquarters, rading the place? If this had happened at ELCA headquarters, a big story might have been on page one. But in Christian News, page one is always reserved for breaking news, like Waldo Werning's latest claims, or the results of the Iron Man contest, senior division, or a new Babtist book being published.

The date of the evidence hearing might be changed for various reasons. Or Hochmuth's attorney may waive the right, which will skip the rehearsal of all those disgusting details fully described in the Criminal Complaint, the basis for the search warrant.

WELS is busy spinning the story. This is my take on the crimes that took place at WELS headquarters:

1. SP Schroeder denies knowing that Joel Hochmuth was a homosexual child pornographer. However, someone did know, since Joel confessed to it and told the police that he and his wife went to counseling for it.
2. Whoever covered up this on-going crime was complicit in its spread. Little boys were raped by grown men to provide the material swapped on these peer-to-peer sharing groups. The Internet files will exist forever, as shown by the recent discovery of a man arrested with 500,000 files. Hochmuth and his protectors helped in the re-raping of these children.
3. SP Schroeder claims that WELS is not paying for Hochmuth's lawyer. That is likely true, since the synod has to pay for its own lawyers in dealing with a host of issues, such as future lawsuits. It would probably be unethical for Hochmuth's attorney to defend the criminal and the synod. People still wonder how Hochmuth managed to find the priciest lawyer in the state on short notice.
4. Schroeder was in a hurry to announce Hochmuth being forgiven, because the child pornographer's lawyer glibly claimed it was an adult pornography issue that required counseling. Since the attorney only says what the client allows, the public has a written record of Joel's lack of contrition. Expect a plea-bargain to lesser charges, such a j-walking or unpaid traffic tickets.
5. Meanwhile, WELS is still promoting homosexuality with its Facebook page - Bring Back Party in the MLC. Although the video was finally pulled from YouTube (again!), the original is linked on the FB page, with almost 1400 people liking it.
6. WELS is receiving full recompense for decades of slandering anyone who dared to address grave problems, whether doctrinal or criminal.

I have been ordered not to criticize SP Schroeder. However, I do not engage in the personal attacks so dearly loved by WELS. I am simply identifying the incompetence that makes Gurgle look good in comparison.

The founders of Church and Change (Jeske, Witt, Parlow, Aderman) have been rewarded generously by Schroeder, who protects them by claiming how helpless he is.

Gurgle was horrible in finances, but he never owned two headquarters at the same time, in the middle of a commercial real estate depression.
