1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Battling the Roman Catholic Lutherans Who Vilify and Betray the Reformation

This single quotation about the Spirit has 103,000 views
far more than any other.

This Sunday's Epistle lesson (historic, not Vatican A-B-C) concerns 1 Corinthians 12, just as the quotation above and the Small Catechism quotation on the template do.

As one reader commented years ago, the battle for Universal Objective Justification Without Faith is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

But first, let's consider how Roman Catholic UOJ is.

  • The priestly class is infallible, as long as they agree with the Pope in Rome (or Milwaukee, or Mankato, or St. Louis).
  • These priests are "sons of the Church" as long as they remain in good standing with the Boss. They will be protected, transferred, and promoted - not in spite of their crimes, but because of their felonies. Tis a mutual admiration society - Satan's Handmaiden for Satan's spawn.
  • They are the Keepers of the Secret, the Deposit of Faith, handed down by word of mouth, from bishop to bishop. If some dogma seems newly invented - do not be alarmed - it was known long ago but only recently revealed by the Bishop of Rome, Milwaukee, St. Louis, or Mankato.
  • Us rubes, us hicks, us hillbillies will never understand the profundities they know, which they do not need to explain. They declare what is given to them, infallibly, and pass it on through their stooges, inerrantly.
  • The priests talk about the Scriptures all day long and quote their favorite dynamic paraphrase of the Bible, so dynamic that most people say, "Whaaaaaa?" when they read it.

Here is the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit in a few words.

The Holy Spirit teaches us directly through the Word and only works through the Word. Any explanation of God working without the Word is simply an attack on His revelation in the Word.

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
  • it shall not return unto me void,
  • but it shall accomplish that which I please,
  • and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

This passage is not alone, but it is the central explanation of the Spirit at work in the Word and always accomplishing God's purpose.

The unbelievers cannot grasp this. If they promote one of their false teaching pals, they think they have won another fight. They do not imagine that God is punishing their sect with another evildoer.

When they kick out or hate out another pastor, they high-five each other at headquarters, but they do not see they have dug the rotting corpse of a sect even deeper into the soil.

That is why they blabber about the entire world being forgiven - without faith, without the Word, without the Means of Grace. They have no comprehension of the Spirit/Word connection. This connection is so close that many Biblical references to the Spirit can be replaced with the Word, and vice versa. So the Spirit goes out from God, or the Word. They are bound together and never separate.

Jesus described this connection in John 3, teaching Nicodemus.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

This means - literally - unless a man is water/Spirit born..., based on Greek grammar. Yes, Jesus knew Greek and taught in Greek. Otherwise, the pun on born from above, born again is lost.

In one verse, Jesus described Holy Baptism - water plus the Word. Water is the physical symbol, the Word is the energy of God, the Spirit at work.

But lo - the UOJ Stormtroopers teach the entire world was forgiven by God without the Spirit, without the briefest Biblical mention of this astounding event. They know because Walther said so. Never forget - Walther. Studied. Luther. Ponder that. No one says, "Walther overlooked his bishop's flagrant adultery and the bishop's abandonment of his sick wife and children."

Walther never asked, "Holy and Venerable Bishop, why did you book your mistress next door to you on the ship and leave your sick wife and kids in Dresden?" Nor did the obedient clergy ask that question. They urged divorce upon any couple where one or the other did not want to leave Europe.

That attitude - hidden from the Lutheran masses - is the evil fruit from a corrupt tree, the evil tree of unbelief (Matthew 7:17). Walther spent his career promoting this dogma. He picked Pieper to canonize it, but justification by faith remained and was taught in the midst of this metastatic UOJ cancer.

Do Missouri loyalists even wonder why Paul McCain, nominal editor at Concordia Publishing House, chose to promote Roman Catholic essays from The Catholic Encyclopedia as his own?

Or ask why the Chaplain to the Court of Matt Harrison is smitten with Mary and Romanism, so much he was ready to pope and run at one point?

Or consider why the LCMS leaders are far more comfortable with ELCA leaders than they are with their faithful pastors?

The favorite word in WELS, Missouri, and the Little Vatican on the Prairie is - control. They have to control everything. Weeds are dominant, my city-slicker friends. Leave them alone and they will take over. Weeds grab the water the sunshine, and the turf. Weed for hours and two weeks later - they are back and sowing or planting themselves as never before.

The Lutheran Church today is an untended, unweeded garden. Some good plants remain and bear fruit, but they are mostly overtaken by the dominant, remorseless false teachers, who proudly say,

"Now, where is he
That shall our speech forbid us?
By right or might we shall prevail;
What we determine cannot fail;
We own no lord and master."

Nothing can be done until the Lutherans return to the Biblical doctrine of the Holy Spirit exclusively at work through the Word. Until then, the palaver about readings, seasons, elections and re-elections will remain cover for the continue decay of sound doctrine.

My First Blueberry and Two Ears Silver Queen Sweet Corn.
Fun with Cardboard Mulch

I decided to get serious about mulching the blueberries bushes, before the well watered weeds took over. I used cardboard boxes to shade roses in Phoenix, and the same method worked well for blueberries. I cut the tape on the bottom and spread the flaps to put a small box around most plants. Some boxes just opened up and I used them as thick newspaper mulch.

I soaked newspapers in the third kiddie pool and used them around the edge to hold down the boxes, weeds, and long grass.

Now that I am mulching with cardboard boxes, the recycle barrel holds my mulch and I covet stacks of cardboard boxes. I had all the cardboard used up on blueberries. The rustic fence used quite a few boxes too.

At Walmart I looked over boxes and boxes I could use in the Wild Garden, as the first layer.

In mulching I found my first blueberry, which was not completely formed but tasted so good from the plant. I also had a second ear of Silver Queen sweet corn, which was quickly microwaved and eaten with butter.

The Quest for Pine Needles
Blueberries produce more with acid in the soil. I wanted to add peat moss, but could only get the composted version, which is neutral.

Another solution is mulching with pine needles, surely a possibility with pine cones in the neighborhood. When Sassy and I walked toward Almost Eden, to enjoy the shade and plants, I passed our neighbor's house with three pine trees.

My next challenge is to convince the residents that raking their needles is good, proper, normal, and likely to be rewarded with blueberries.

Minnesota AD Norwood Teague resigns amid sexual harassment allegations

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/13393382/minnesota-golden-gophers-ad-norwood-teague-resigns-amid-sexual-harassment-allegations

Minnesota athletic director Norwood Teague resigned on Friday morning amid allegations of sexual harassment.
Teague, who got the athletic director job three years ago, issued a statement through Minneapolis television station KARE 11 in which he said he drank too much on the night in question and is seeking treatment for his alcohol problems.
"At a recent university event, I had entirely too much to drink," Teague said. "I behaved badly towards nice people and sent truly inappropriate texts. I'm embarrassed and I apologize to everyone involved. This neither reflects my true character or the true character of this great, great university."
In a open letter to the university community, school president Eric Kaler said Teague's resignation "follows the report of two recent incidents of sexual harassment of two non-student University employees." He didn't go into detail about the nature of the harassment.
"To be clear, sexual harassment will not be tolerated at the University of Minnesota and I sincerely regret that our employees experienced this behavior. The University has an explicit policy and a strong code of conduct that articulates our standards. Ensuring a healthy learning, working and living environment for all in our University community is very important," Kaler wrote.
Beth Goetz, the university's deputy athletic director and senior women's administrator, was named interim AD. A news conference is scheduled for Friday afternoon in Minneapolis.
Teague brought Goetz with him when he left Virginia Commonwealth University for Minnesota in 2012.
Teague was hired to replace Joel Maturi and was charged with reshaping a Golden Gophers athletic department that had fallen far behind the rest of the Big Ten in terms of its facilities.
Unlike Maturi, who tried to build a department that put resources into both the cash-generating sports, such as football and men's basketball, and lower-profile programs including track and wrestling, Teague came in with a clear plan to emphasize the most popular sports in hopes of generating more revenue that could trickle down to the rest of the department.
He set about to raise nearly $200 million to bring new practice facilities for football and men's basketball -- a gargantuan task for a school that hasn't had the type of sporting success that gets big donors to open their wallets. But Teague helped raise about $70 million in the first year of the plan, and the school had hoped to start breaking ground on new projects this fall.
Teague carved out a reputation as a basketball administrator in his previous six years as athletic director at VCU, where he teamed with coach Shaka Smart to bring the little-known program to national prominence. While at Minnesota, he fired Tubby Smith and hired Richard Pitino, the son of coaching legend Rick Pitino, to lead the men's program. He also replaced Pam Borton with Marlene Stollings on the women's side.
Teague said he planned to "reassess my career and life options. While I'm proud of my career accomplishments, I want to stop and take a look at my life and alcohol issues."

How many pastors give nude male photos of a sports star to a female staffer

and issued an insta-call to get them a new job?

----

Couldn't help myself when seeing the stark contrast between 2 very similar factual events.

University of Minnesota AD.   1) Incident described as bad behavior, embarrassing, not a true representation of character.  2) resigns to examine his issues.

WELS Pastor   1) Multiple incidences vaguely described as boorish behavior to hide what actually happened.  2) Sues victim with a buddy Pastor and 2 cronies for talking about what actually happened, transfers to Texas with the new congregation that isn’t clued in about what actually happened.

If a person wants to go to hell, just keep listening to what the WELS preaches & teaches.

GJ - The enablers are worse, whether DPs or CPs or classmates who hold to the infallibility of their buddies. They teach that certain clergy are untouchable and beyond criticism, but they also shun anyone who -

  • Cares about sound doctrine.
  • Tells the truth.
  • Questions the sodomitic secret rituals, like anal sex with the Sprinter statue.
They moved the Sprinter to MLC after closing Northwestern College,
because the pastors did not want to leave their marble friend behind.

We Built This Synod on Rock and Roll
Emergent Church Hymn Suitable for All Synods

We built this synod, we built this synod on rock an' roll
Built this synod, we built this synod on rock an' roll

Say you don't know me, or recognize my faith
Say you don't care who goes to that kind of place
Knee deep in emergent, sinking in our blight,
Too many Dee-You-Eyes eating up the night.

Mark Jeske plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this synod, we built this synod on rock an' roll.

[Chorus]

Someone's always playing corporation games
Who cares they're always changing congregation names
We just want to play here, someone built our stage
They call us irresponsible, write us off the page.

Mark Jeske plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this synod, we built this synod on rock an' roll

[Chorus]

It's just another Sunday, in a tired old street
Bloggers have got the choke hold, oh, then we just lost the beat.

Who counts the money underneath the bar
Who rides the wrecking ball into our guitars
Don't tell us you need us, 'cause we're just simple fools
Looking for America, coming through WELS schools.

(I'm looking out over that Milwaukee bridge
Out on a gorgeous sunny Saturday and I'm seeing that bumper to bumper traffic)

Don't you remember (remember)

(Here's your favorite radio station, in your favorite radio city
The city by the lake, the synod that rocks, the synod that always sleeps)

Mark Jeske plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this synod, we built this synod on rock an' roll

[Chorus:Repeats x2]

(We built, we built this synod) built this synod(we built, we built this synod)

Justification Book Moving Forward - As They Say Today.
Anticipating a 500th Anniversary of the Reformation with Lutherans attacking and undermining Luther's doctrine: ELCA, WELS, LCMS, ELS, and the CLC (sic).

The goal is to have a completed justification book by Reformation this year. Using Lulu, we will have the free PDF available for anyone and printed books available for purchase. Donors to the project will get books sent to them.

Contents include  -
  • The Calvinist background of Universal Objective Justification.
  • A collection of UOJ quotations, gathered by Brett Meyer.
  • How to study justification by faith.
  • The Biblical doctrine of justification by faith.
  • A list of worthwhile books on the topic.
  • A lengthy review of the hideous Jay Webber essay at the Emmaus Conference.

The book will be aimed at the laity, because the UOJ clergy want to dance around topics like
  1. Synodical Conference history,
  2. Their CFW Walther papal shrine, and
  3. Their own infallibility.
The history of the Missouri Synod is so important that they have to skip over its origins as a cult of Pietism built around a promiscuous, abusive bishop whose Dresden career was dead, so he took his followers and his mistress away to America.

The Saxon migration took place in 1838, but the official LCMS history begins in 1847. The Great Walther did not want that almost-decade written down, and his nephew Ludwig Fuerbringer was just as conveniently forgetful.

The roots of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod run deep, tracing back to 1847 when Saxon and other German immigrants [GJ - oh - that Loehe group - who initiated the formation] established a new church body in America, seeking the freedom to practice and follow confessional Lutheranism.

Sadly, the Synodical Conference, re-merging in time to follow ELCA's lead, remain stuck in Stephan's immorality and false doctrine while pretending to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017.

"Don't look back, but who invited Darth?"
Answer - you did - ELCA, WELS, ELS, LCMS.

No Desert This August - Our Helper Wrote - "Time To Mow Again"

The rollicking storm,  which moved through yesterday, was just the boost that all the flowers and vegetables needed. As a result, the grass and weeds are thick and growing fast too.

As readers were clucking their tongues over all the mulch on our gardens and fenced areas spread during the last year, I was patiently toiling to add even more. "Your scorn is my energy!"

Un-mulched soil will absorb some rain and let the rest run off into the street. Our front yards are sloped toward the street, so slowing down the drainage helps all the vegetation.

Another factor is evaporation. The back yard is flat and tends to pool up with long, heavy rains. But the sun evaporates water faster than I imagined - with 95 degree days. I filled the wheelbarrow and saw the water disappear rapidly, just from the sun.

But that much rainwater on mulch wakes up all the soil activity, sending it into early spring activity, with fungi growing, bacteria teeming, earthworms digging, beneficial insects preying.

Evidence - one distant neighbor does nothing for his two KnockOut roses. They were perfect this spring and looked like a display for a gardening magazine. He mows and trims his grass away from the walk, but ignores the roses, which are now barely alive after a summer of heavy rains, even now.

Flowering and fruiting plants want a steady supply of moisture and constant pruning or picking. I cut my KnockOut roses by  50% twice already. Now they are at 5 - 6 feet tall again - and blooming a bit too fast, thanks to the heat. They add a lot of color to the yard when blooming but that does require pruning and cutting off spent flowers.

Borage - aka Bee Bread - flower.
If beans and tomatoes are picked, they flower and fruit again, but they also need water for that to continue at full speed. The  Borage does not care - that herb just flowers, drops seed, and starts new plants. The foliage is floppy and the stems are weak and hollow, but the bees and hover flies love the constant supply of food. I leave the Borage alone in the backyard, and it never stops blooming because of this cycle of dropping seed and growing more. Some easy-to-grow (invasive!) flowers - like Feverfew - do the same thing.

I grow Borage amid the roses and along one fence.

My First Hummingbird on the Butterfly Bush - Near the Window

White Profusion Butterfly Bush

I decided to put the observational plants in the same area with the most sun, what amounts to the backyard extension of the sunny garden, on the south side.

There I planted butterfly, beneficial insect, and hummingbird flowers:

  • Bee Balms
  • Lavender
  • Coreopsis
  • Dill
  • Gooseberry
  • Beautyberry
  • Chaste Tree
  • White Profusion Butterfly Bush

I planted White Profusion where I could easily see it from the bedroom window. I was doing some laundry and peeked out the backdoor at that garden area. A hummingbird was darting from one white flower to another. I walked to the bedroom window and looked again. The hummingbird continued its work for a time and moved on.

White Profusion close up.
I began the year looking at lists of plants friendly to butterflies and hummingbirds, then added beneficial insect plants to my shopping list.

Diversity of plants is the main goal. As I mentioned with beneficial insects, the adults may live on one type of food (nectar and pollen) while the new-borns live on pests as they hatch. Having a large number of nectar and pollen plants - yea, even weeds and herbs - will help populate all the desirable creatures.

This is also the bird area, and they all get along fine. Birds, toads, and beetles eat pests. Those pests could be killed with insecticides, but that would eliminate the butterflies and beneficial insects. Hummingbirds do not simply sip nectar. They also need insects to feed that astounding energy level.

Driving away and killing the pests will always end in getting rid of the most attractive and useful creatures fashioned for that purpose by God. And best of all, these beneficial creations are a delight to the eyes and ears.

Below proves how one type of Bee Balm can attract the best of the delightful creations.

Rainstorms Make Gardeners Feel Accomplished - Tons of Usable Nitrogen for No Cost

El Nino is predicted by NOAA into 2016

I took Sassy for her morning walk at about 8 AM and saw nothing special. I really wanted some rain, because a long bout of sprinkling yesterday left the soil still dry. I know because I dug a hole for the Double Whammy Sunflower this morning.

The house got dark suddenly and a big thunderstorm rolled in at about 10:30. The rainbarrels, which I emptied yesterday - in hope - are already half-filled.

A long, steady rainstorm is a great boon to gardeners and farmers. No amount of artificial watering can equal a rainstorm in volume of water and in usable nitrogen.

Save the rain for later, like a boss.

Maximizing the Rainstorm
Always planning ahead, I obtained 30 cubic feet of cyprus mulch, which we put on part of the main rose garden. I could use more for the rest of the front garden. I am changing over from black mulch that smells bad until it dries out to dry shredded cyprus, which smells wonderful from the start.

I made sure the ranbarrels were empty and positioned under the eaves. They are the secret to the Intensive Creation Unit. I ladle out rainwater on all lagging plants

Double Whammy can grow to 3 feet.
It is a perennial sunflower.
We did a lot of weeding yesterday. I aimed at the big and ugly, such as crabgrass as big a mature crab, and that stealthy grassy weed that goes out from the center and plants new versions to repeat the process.

I am studying weeds to identify them better. Unfortunately I know too many weeds too well. However, they flatter me by growing five feet tall in good soil with plenty of water. "Aha! You will be composted soon under a layer of cardboard, newspaper, and mulch."

As I wrote, with deep sighs, the sunny potato garden turned into a riot of weeds, an orgy of slugs, and very few taters. You might say I reduced the initial supply of seed potatoes. But instead of hiding the evidence, I keep the composted bales in place, tore up the weeds, with help, and coaxed all the organic material around the roses and raspberries growing in wild abandon.

Keeping the material in place will create or sustain a harbor for beneficial beetles and spiders, an overwintering place for beneficial insect larvae. A heavy rainstorm accelerates the the decomposition process, which needs moisture and nitrogen.

Want to Meet Some Beneficial Creatures? Visit the Bee Balm section at Walmart.

I was looking over the plants at Walmart when I spotted a new, fresh display of Bee Balm. I bought a few of their bargain plants from before.

As I neared the display, tiny insects were flitting about. I approached and saw the flower flies (hover flies) feeding from the flowers. The beneficial insects look for the food, and they flourish where plenty of food is provided.
