LutherQuislings and the ALPB Ovaltines - Insipid Warriors in the Battle for Mediocrity

LutherQuest - is hilariously named - they have yet to find Martin Luther in their quest for the truth.

The American Lutheran Publicity Bureau Online Forum earns the longest group blog title name, because no one wants to make matters worse. The Ovaltines are typical wannabee Roman Catholics, praising one of their own upon leaving the Lutheran Church to become priests - like Leonard Klein. When I searched "Lutheran pastors who turned into Catholic priests," the list was long and quite Ovaltine-centric, starting with Richard John Neuhaus.

Both organizations kicked me out, "an honor devoutly to be missed," as Shakespeare might have written. The ELDONUTs were worse, getting rid of my books, which were offered free of charge by a postulant. Donated Bibles disappeared too, not a good sign of devotion to Lutherdom. Bishop-for-Life Heiser sold Thy Strong Word earlier, but failed to pay for them.

Soon after 2000 AD, Bishop-in-Waiting James Heiser was selling copies of Thy Strong Word, which concentrates on the efficacy of the Word in Justification by Faith. The Ichabod post was 2017. "A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways." James 1:8 KJV.

LQ began its invitation to me - by inviting and then piling on me - with their bad manners and worse grammar. My Internet friends had some fun battling those routine windbags, so LQ locked down its precious forum.

What Do These Barnacles Have in Common?

The talk about "the Word" but they despise the efficacy, clarity, and precision of the KJV Old and New Testaments. No wonder they scoff at the KJV, mock and reject it, lest someone get at glance at their cloven hooves. They cling to their sinking ship.

They are all "Confessional Lutherans," although their "distinctly Lutheran concepts" reject the Book of Concord, yea even the Augsburg Confession and the Apology. But this only increases the harmony of the apostates. Yes, they walk like contestants in a three-legged race, falling down and rising up in shame, but they are at least going the same way with the same results.

Lastly, the LQuislings and ALPB Ovaltines are singing this tune in harmony -

  1. We are losing readers, shrinking fast.
  2. We used to be much more interesting in our discussions.
  3. We will never quote Ichabod, unless we "bury the lead" (journalism talk) on page 1057.

Drowning in Drivel - Disloyal Lutherquest and Perfideous Ovaltines

The misnamed LutherQuesters studiously avoid the Scriptures and Luther. Their problem comes from being stuck on Stephan-Walther and their fervid opposition to the Scriptures. Currently, Rolf Preus is super-charged to counter any possible hint of Justification by Faith on an Australian Confession Lutheran Forum. If they let me into their enormous chat-circle, I would be eager to quote the Chief Article of the Christian Religion and hope they would respond.

I replaced the Statue of Liberty from Planet of the Apes, with a Luther statue from the LCMS. WELS has one Luther statue (for jesting about faity), and they all bow to the sainted Schwan.

The Ovaltines of ALPB Online Bore'em are even less interesting. They monopolize their little squabbles so only a few people can waste everyone's time with their chatter. I was enjoying a great run about David Benke's revelation that he was the real star of the Augsburg Confession's annual celebration, which is all about Luther, Melanchthon, the brave lay leaders, and Benke. Since then, Benke has been almost silent. I miss how everything nestles on his broad shoulders and celebrated personal history. He has been saying "It's OK to pray" ever since he gilded the wonderful Yankee Stadium pan-religious prayer circle with his personal thoughts. Before that moment, few accepted the efficacy of worshiping with every religion except Christianity. His Missouri Synod mentors declared, "One small step for a prayer circle, one giant leap for Benke."

From LutherQuest - Good News about the Federal Gubmint Responding
To Their Own Failure To Support the First Amendment

Excerpted from a March 19, 2024, American Center for Life and Liberty article, "ACLJ Obtains Victory in Lawsuit Against Smithsonian – One of the Largest Reported Settlements Against Federal Government in First Amendment Case – After It Unconstitutionally Kicked Out Christian Students for Wearing Pro-Life Hats":

quote:

Last year, on the 50th annual March for Life event in Washington, D.C., groups of pro-lifers were targeted because of their pro-life apparel while visiting several different government buildings before and after the March for Life. They were required to cover up their pro-life apparel, or leave the buildings, in violation of their free speech rights as protected by the First Amendment....

In documents filed with the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., the Smithsonian has agreed to settle with our clients, providing a monetary amount of $50,000, a private tour to be given by the director of the National Air and Space Museumpersonal apologies, and the public dissemination of an “after action” report that was conducted by the Smithsonian following the incident that occurred. In addition, the Smithsonian will “further reiterate via a bulk distribution method to all security officers stationed at all Smithsonian museums open to the public and the National Zoological Park, the current Smithsonian policy regarding the wearing of hats or other types of clothing with messages, including religious and political speech.” [Boldface added]

Delusional Dullards at LutherQ - No Wonder the Synodicals
Are Melting Faster Than a July Frost

This WELS history of loving Church Growth is matched by the LCMS, ELCA, and the ELS. Notice how none of the brave souls on LutherQuest (sic) can offer any ideas, research, or regrets.

I prepared a paper for a recent pastoral conference [LCR] entitled “Catechetical helps against the spirit of antichrist.”

The paper holds out an approach to correct the six chief false doctrines used to create a power base in both Roman Catholicism and in churches which teach Soul Competency. (Baptist, Mennonite, Assemblies of God, virtually any church that is PC or lax in practice of the office of the keys.)

The best comment came from a formwer (sic) WELS pastor who noted that the WELS committee which created CGM overtly researched and copied Baptist methods. If this is so, then WELS intentionally sought out the spirit of antichrist, and infected their local churches. The pastor who made the comment had sold the book by jackson (Gregory L. Jackson?) in which he broke the story that CGM in WELS is really Baptist.

Has anyone heard of such a book?

If not do you have citable evidence that CGM is Baptist in origin?

Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Your servant in Christ,

youngdrj

+++

The Disciples of Christ are among those groups that teach soul competency (My Church and Others, Mueller, 1968, p. 56ff).

I think I will have to get into the guts of how WELS implemented CGM, to see if the six principles that I attribute to soul competency are also present there in CGM as implemented in WELS and LC-MS. Does LC-MS have a position on CGM? Official or otherwise?

Does anyone have a resource for WELS and/or LC-MS implementation of CGM?

Thanks in advance for the great help,

Your servant in Christ,

youngdrj

GJ - I would be glad to send a few books free to Jeffrey Young. The publication response of the Walther sects (LCMS-WELS-ELS-CLC) has been shock, denial, stink-eye, and extending the Left Boot of Fellowship. Now the Objective Faithless Justification savants are reaping the bitter fruit as they fulfill the warnings of John 15.

KJV John 15:6  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Luther Quislings will not respond to the question, except for sputtering and fuming.

Marvin Schwan Memorials Renamed Yelloh!
ALPB Online Ovaltines, LutherQueasies Bury LCMS Higher Education Scandals.
Three or More in Trouble.

Schwan ice cream and heavily salted food trucks will be Yelloh! now, after months of preparation and advice from Lutheran synod leaders. "We are all yellow ourselves, so this will remind us to duck the real issues and praise all the trinkets we get from Schwan Yelloh! and LB/AAL Thrivent.

Today the two most gaseous discussion sites are avoiding the issue of Missouri's crumbling higher education enterprise. Matt the Fatt seems to be muffling both groups - the ALPB Online Ovaltines and the LutherQueasies.

ALPB Ovaltines and LutherQuislings Battle Over Trivia, Avoiding Foundational Truths

This poor little girl model lost her teeth to cavities and her health to sugared milk.

The Ovaltines are elderly and retired ministers, plus one former LCMS District President who invited himself to a pan-religious worship fest, so he could participate. They are having a heap of fun going over the Seminex split - 50 years ago - and a new book about it. Click here to facilitate an afternoon snooze, after reading their blame-shame-game.

ELCA was repudiating the Scriptures - in their prehistoric synods - 100 years ago. They smoothly moved into Universalism, using the same dogmas as CFW Walther and other dolts - coming from the rationalism and Pietism of Europe. In short, ELCA dinosaurs came from Halle University's Pietism decaying into Universalism. LCMS-WELS-ELS dogma dinosaurs came from Bishop Martin Stephan, STD at Halle University - and his loyal bootlicker - CFW Walther. Walther attached himself to Stephan because his Pietist conventicle had lost their guru. Stephan wrote a letter to Walther and Walther said it saved his life (because he was killing himself with Pietistic extremism over his guilt). Stephan's forgiveness without faith became the be-all and end-all of Walther's American cult.

In short, the LCMS-WELS-ELS began by denying and repudiating the Scriptures, especially the Chief Article of the Christian Religion, Justification by Faith.

Robert Preus was the only synodical conference guy who repented at the end, in his book Justification and Rome. Just to show how dense the graduates of Concordia Seminary, Ft. Wayne are, two of his many sons - Rolf and Daniel - edited the book and did not understand its clear meaning and implications.

LCMS-ELS-WELS upholding the truth is the cackling sound of their Father Below, who knows the facts and watches over his apostate flock, urging them onward to Fuller, Trinity Divinity, and their precious little discussion groups.

All of you know the Chief Article of the Christian Religion, as confessed by Luther, Melanchthon, and Chemnitz. This graphic will be repeated until Bivens and Valleskey agree and ask forgiveness.

LutherQuislings - When You Care Enough To Send the Very Best - And Lie

Richard Jungkuntz, who married the boss's daughter, was a WELS professor who actually earned a PhD. He was pushed out of WELS when his devotion to modern Biblical rationalism was exposed by mistake. A substitute teacher spotted repeat homework from Jungkuntz and its errors.

Fired, Jungkuntz was upgraded to serving at the Springfield seminary and the LCMS doctrinal commission. Jungkuntz was chairman of the board of Seminex, which is seldom recognized as the first gay Lutheran seminary, in touch with the Metropolitan Community Church. He joined the ALC later. He was so rabid an Objective Justification promoter than he worried about WELS letting go of their precious dogma.

The LutherQuislings are just as fanatical as ELCA, Walther, Pieper, and Christian News about Justification Without Faith. They are no different from their ELCA counterparts in distorting the Scriptures and just as sanctimonious.

Anyone with a memory will realize that Spineless Schroeder and Matt the Fatt have slidden downhill to ELCA ever since they took office. How can they object to ELCA when the current Michigan District President cross-dressed as part of hazing (GA) at the Mequon Seminary?
We are one in the Thrivent
We are one in their dough.
We are won the Thrivent
We have claws in their dough.
And we praise that all unity has jolly been restored.
And they'll know we are OJ by our love, by our love.
And they'll know we are OJ by our love.

 Feline OJ.

These chaps - from the same class - helped to jump-start Church Growth in WELS. Ever since. they have multiplied like fleas in a neglected dog kennel.

Rev. Jackson's blog binds your conscience with catch-22s especially when you don't understand the secular and philosophical origins of his disagreement with most other American Lutheran clergy in the former Synodical Conference bodies.

When a disagreement is secular and philosophical, but the parties involved mistakenly think it is sacred, they can argue on-and-on for eternity on sacred things without coming to any resolution.

Are you willing to research things like I suggested above? For this question in particular you'd also want to teach yourself about the different political theories involving authority--the theories present in Germany during the 1700s and 1800s.

For the record, it wasn't during the worship service. It was after the service had concluded.

I don't really know how to respond to what else you have written. In my opinion, you are wide-of-the-mark. To use the photoshopped photos of Mr. Gregory Jackson as evidence of anything except mischief-making and nastiness on his part reveals a decided lack of good judgment on your part.

You are using the Augsburg Confession like a rule book in a way which is completely at odds with what was accomplished at Augsburg. May I respectfully ask you to take to heart the words of Lord Jesus, "I desire mercy, not sacrifice..." and all that that Scripture implies.

Rev. Herzberger:

quote:

There is but one limitation—imposed by the Lord of the harvest Himself—they are not to preach the Gospel in public worship [I Cor. 14:34-35 and I Timothy 2:11-14]...

Daniel Gorman:

quote:

...the office of deacon is clearly an all male authoritative office forbidden to all women:

"Let each deacon be the husband of only one wife, managing his children and his own household well." 1 Tim 3:12, EHV

So, precisely WHERE does the AUTHORITY of the deacon lie, if not to PREACH and TEACH in church, or administer the Sacraments, or exercise government over the congregation in Church?

It is now a mathematical, theological, and theonomical CERTAINTY that if the occupation or activity which defines the very concept of a deaconess is to be a lawful occupation, well then such an occupation or activity cannot be quite the same as the MALE OFFICE of a DEACON.

http://cyclopedia.lcms.org/display.asp?t1=d&word=D EACONESSES:

quote:

1. Female servants in the ch., formerly unmarried or widowed (some contemporary diaconates permit married women to serve as deaconesses); a special ministry in the ch.; “Phoebe, a deaconess.” (Ro 16:1 RSV)

2. Custom and usage of the ancient world forbade intimate assoc. of the sexes in pub. assemblies. Functions of deaconesses in the early ch. were to instruct female catechumens, assist at the baptism of women, care for sick or impoverished women, minister to women martyrs and confessors in prison, and act as ushers for women in chs.

3. The 4th c. was the Golden Age of the female diaconate. Forty deaconesses served in the cong. of J. Chrysostom* in Constantinople. Among the deaconesses of that time was Olympias.

4. When the diaconate came to be regarded as a meritorious work, its deterioration began. Escape sought from a corrupt world resulted in monastic life. By the 12th c. deaconesses had nearly disappeared.

5. The modern career woman in ch. work looks back to 1833 for the beginnings of her work. T. Fliedner,* planning ways to meet the needs of people in distress, opened a door for women who wanted to use their talents for the ch. He est. the first motherhouse 1836 at Kaiserswerth, Ger., where he trained ca. 425 deaconesses. J. K. W. Löhe* est. a motherhouse at Neuendettelsau 1854. Among others in Eur. were those at Bielefeld, Basel, Paris, and St. Petersburg. The diaconate was introd. also in Eng. and Scand.

6. Among chs. that have deaconesses are the Ch. of Eng., the Ch. of Scot., the Episc., Presb., Ref., Meth., Mennonite, and Bap. chs. Many deaconesses are active throughout the world.

7. W. A. Passavant* introd. the diaconate in Am. He est. a Luth. hosp. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1849, and on his request Fliedner brought 4 deaconesses from Ger. to be nurses in this “Pittsburgh Infirmary,” later called Passavant Hosp. One of the 4 deaconesses was Maria Elizabeth Hess, later wife of Philipp Wambsganss, Sr. (December 19, 1823–October 1, 1901).

8. Motherhouses were est. at Philadelphia 1884 and Baltimore 1895. In Omaha, E. A. Fogelström organized the Ev. Immanuel Assoc. for Works of Mercy 1889; a hospital opened 1890; home for deaconesses built 1891; Immanuel Deaconess Assoc. formed 1892. The Milwaukee motherhouse, later connected with the ALC, was est. ca. 1893. Other deaconess homes include those est. in Chicago, Minneapolis, Brooklyn, Brush (Colorado), and Axtell Nebraska). See also Wenner, George Unangst.

9. F. W. Herzberger* helped est. the deaconess movement in the Syn. Conf. He was ably supported by P. Wambsganss, Jr., pres. of the Ev.-Luth. Wohltütigkeitskonferenz.

10. The Luth. ;Deaconess Assoc. of the Ev. Luth. Syn. Conf. of N. Am. (LDA) was organized in August 1919 at Fort Wayne, Indiana Deaconess training was given in connection with the Luth. Hosp., Fort Wayne. First grad.: Ina Kempff 1922. First deaconess sent to a for. field: Louise Rathke, to India 1926.

11. LDA Pres.: P. Wambsganss, Jr., 1919–33; Walter Klausing 1933–55; Edgar H. Albers 1955– Supts. (called Ex. Dir. beginning in 1957): Bruno Poch 1923–32; Herman B. Kohlmeier 1932–41; Arnold F. Krentz 1941–61; Walter C. Gerken 1961–67; Arne P. Kristo 1968–71;. Lucille Wassman 1971–. Dir. of Training: Arne P. Kristo 1961–71. Dir. of Deaconess Educ.: Lucille Wassman 1971–. Over 300 deaconesses have been trained since 1920.

So, if the Church should, in its official capacity, appoint women to such a position as described above in the Christian Cyclopedia, namely, a position of active service in the church like that of Olympias, and 39 other so-called "deaconesses", in Chrysostom's own 4th century Church, and ceremonially inaugurate them, in ecclesiastical and liturgical ceremonies, to the position, would that be ipso facto an act of allowing these women to teach and exercise authority over MEN in the Church????

Daniel Gorman: "Rev. Herzberger: "There is but one limitation—imposed by the Lord of the harvest Himself—they are not to preach the Gospel in public worship [I Cor. 14:34-35 and I Timothy 2:11-14)..."

Did the LCMS celebrate its hundredth year of feminist apostacy?"

Celebrating precisely this sort of "feminist" apostasy of allowing women to publicly perform functions belonging ONLY to the pastoral office is PRECISELY what one local WELS congregation already did a few years ago!

GJ - I have mailed coupons to these scribblers, so they can obtain the pharmaceutical help they need. I would untangle their lack of substance and research, if it mattered. I think some are enraged they they have no legitimate heritage while I am part of the Apostolic Succession, which - like a real education - is missed most by those lacking it.

The descendants of the Perryville Sex Cult call themselves orthodox or confessional or conservative when they praise themselves for covering up the felonies of the Walther Crime Family, who aided and abetted the promiscuity of Bishop Stephan. They solved their problems by using the outbreak of high church syphilis to rob Stephan of his gold, land, books, and everything else. They threatened their bishop's life and kidnapped him to Illinois.

But that is piddling compared to their rejection of the Chief Article of Christianity - Justification by Faith.

Their biggest deception is not the Stephan cover-up, but the claim that Missouri began with Objective Justification - it is pure baloney. Missouri was Justification by Faith in the beginning, just as WELS was.

Note the first three presidencies of the LCMS - Walther - Schwan - Pieper. Schwan's catechism is devoid of OJ. Bonus fact - he was not brain-washed at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Walther and Pieper had the advantage of promoting Stephan's OJ dogma among generations of pliable students. The weed seed of OJ was sown and the Chief Article neatly buried by combining OJ, SJ, and "Justification by Faith" in the Dogmatics, a stew of Enthusiasm from Walther's most pliable student (and hand-picked via Walther's political gimmicks).

Where are LCMS-WELS now?
  1. They adore the Calvinism of Church Growth and NIV/ESV.
  2. Their abandonment of the KJV and Luther are all too apparent.
  3. They are shining examples of servility to ELCA - reviving Seminex "Biblical scholarship" and promoting the love that dares not speak its name.
Jungkuntz chaired the board of Seminex and became the official seminary of the Metropolitan Community Church.

LutherQueasy Blows Smoke To Avoid the Chief Article of Christianity

Woods' - a Calvinist - added this translation note to his English translation of the published Knapp lectures. Woods was a major figure in American Calvinism and this book was used throughout America. Knapp was considered one of the last Pietists at Halle University, which became entirely rationalist, the home of Biblical "scholars" who mocked the Scriptures - like the faculties of LCMS, WELS, ELS, and ELCA today. I own an early copy of the English version, which circulated before Walther and his syphilitic bishop landed in America.

The Objective Justification salesmen seem unaware of this passage and its basis for Justification by Faith throughout the New Testament.

The Ichabod site is probably not a source you want to be using on LQ much, even if it is right which it is sometimes.

A mistake Rev. Jackson makes is that he does not understand the German idealist roots of the Objective-Subjective distinction. Instead he thinks objective justification came from Pietism or an earlier figure named Huber. Also, he thinks that rejecting Objective Justification and affirming a simpler "Justification by Faith" concept he is adhering to the true biblical view.

Actually, his position is just reflective of a different epistemology. It doesn't make him any more biblical.

Because he doesn't realize the crypto-secularist orgins of his disagreements, he (& many if not all of his opponents) are doomed to talking past each other, trying to solve the question with theology, when really it is an underlying difference in their secular philosophies.

Answers Below

Dettmann - "The Ichabod site is probably not a source you want to be using on LQ much, even if it is right which it is sometimes."

GJ - LutherQueasies get hysterical when someone refutes their nonsense with the Scriptures, the Book of Concord, Luther, Chemnitz, Melanchthon, and Hunnius.

Dettmann - "A mistake Rev. Jackson makes is that he does not understand the German idealist roots of the Objective-Subjective distinction. Instead he thinks objective justification came from Pietism or an earlier figure named Huber. Also, he thinks that rejecting Objective Justification and affirming a simpler "Justification by Faith" concept he is adhering to the true biblical view."

GJ - I have shown the source of OJ/SJ and cited it. Dettman has refuted nothing and somehow does a long-distance brain scan to explain what I think. Knapp was one source, and the translation led to the Waltherians adopting the OJ/SJ labels, because Walther liked that distinction. Huber has been explained and researched on this blog and his works eviscerated by Hunnius, translated by Rydecki. The plain words of the Sacred Scriptures are far more persuasive than the quasi-psycho-socio-neo-crypto-babbling of LutherQueasies.

Dettmann - "Actually, his position is just reflective of a different epistemology. It doesn't make him any more biblical."

GJ - Dettmann starts in darkness and ends in confusion.

Doomedman - "Because he doesn't realize the crypto-secularist orgins (sic) of his disagreements, he (& many if not all of his opponents) are doomed to talking past each other, trying to solve the question with theology, when really it is an underlying difference in their secular philosophies."

GJ - The fear in this doomed man is palpable, but where is his post from yesterday?

Cascione Writes! The Biggest Event Since Brando Sings!

Brando sings! Guys and Dolls
They decided to use a more appealing concept to promote the movie.

Whenever the musical Guys and Dolls is discussed, someone recalls that a promotional banner was going to say, "Brando sings!" Wiser marketing experts prevailed.

I remembered that nugget when LutherQuest (sic) headlined - "Cascione speaks!"

I have posted here for four years and never recall Pastor Cascione conversing with us. What I find revelatory is a picture of an alternate LCMS in transition and what was left behind, what might have been. An alternative LCMS, if you will. Most of these quotes could deserve a thread of their own.

“The LCMS has chosen to abandon its differentiation from the broad spectrum of American congregations and surrender considerable “market share.” They have posted a sign, “Hey everybody. We are just like all the other churches.”

Here we don’t shy away from the idea of denominational marketing and “brand loyalty.” You may locate this principally in women’s suffrage. Yet we are fortunate in having the example of the WELS, which maintained this prohibition. The WELS does not display any more congregational harmony or growth than the LCMS. They may possibly have a bit more clubby esprit de corps. But the American public at large is not interested in buying into either.

***

GJ -  I have noticed that LQ (sic) and the American Lutheran Publicity Bureau Online Discussion Forum are equally enamored of sociology and marketing. Both are dedicated to the crypto-Universalism of Objective Justification. Both host Rolf Preus pontificating and preening in his declining years. Both sites have writers who discuss marketing trends, sociology, and comparing themselves to other denominations and volunteer groups.

Neither one pays any attention to faith in Jesus,

  • as if the Savior never compared the good tree and the corrupt tree in Matthew 7 to faith and unbelief,
  • as if Paul never wrote Galatians or Romans 10.
  • I know they have never read Romans 4, because they jibber like monkeys ready to throw their Dreck at anyone who upsets them.
  • Both sites have called me crazy for following Luther rather than their heroes, though LQ (sic) did apologize when civil law was mentioned.
Another favorite, Calvinist News, has popped off about OJ again. The cub editor, another Ft. Wayne graduate (like Cascione, Webber, Rolf, and Heiser) invoked Romans 4:25 again, but so ambiguously that I failed to see a blatant OJ spasm. But there is a reason, as Krauth explained long ago.
