Number Crunchers and the Ides of March - The Counter Is Going To Roll Over, Sooner or Later

 Midnight count, March 13th, 2023

I noticed the total page views counter was getting near to a countdown on its own: 9,867,329. The 10 million page views goal will take a year or two.

This graphic is almost a century old, and it is prophetic.

That really happened - and they joined.

Do not admit you read Ichabod.

Notice the Changing Quotations about the King James Version of the Bible

I change the blog template every so often, to make it easier for readers to find worship and book information, quotations, essays, and graphics. On the template, I am going through quotations about the KJV, from the list I posted here. Click on graphic on the side (same as above) to find the complete list.

The radicals have been trying to pry us away from the KJV for 70+ years - since the birth of the NCC's RSV - so we need to offer the reason for our trust in the Apostolic (Traditional) text. The Westcott-Hort-Nestle-Aland is an outrageous botch and bundle of deceptions. Yes, the Greek New Testament behind the Evil Four, plus Beck, never existed. It was cobbled together by the unchristian Westcott and Hort, with all kinds of wild guesses and fanciful reasons for cutting out NT passages about the divinity of Christ and faith in Him.

The main "sources" of the Evil Four Plus Beck are

  1. Codex Sinaiticus - which never existed until Count von Tischendorf found it.
  2. Codex Vaticanus - which is actually a Greek translation of the Latin, to calm nerves over which was better. But - since the Greek uses the much later Latin version, the pope's New Testament is a joke, not a source, as faithful as a Hollywood movie star.

Readers are welcome to remind me if they see one of those extremely rare typos that occasionally appear on the blog.

Approaching 9.8 Million Pages - Viewed with Satisfaction and Approval - Or Perhaps Mixed

I was smiling about the pastor who phoned to say I was publishing "nothing but lies and slander" and ended by saying, "Who is telling you all this?" He did not realize how he was giving away the truth of my reporting. I said, "It comes from your fellow pastors." He screamed and slammed the phone down hard (the good ol' days of sturdy phones).

One District President went out of his way to send outraged, anonymous emails from Garland, Texas, where he grew up. Once he realized how easily he showed up on software, he stopped. His buddies in the Appleton Alcoholic District also got to be too obvious or perhaps scolded by the Synod President, who would rather work undercover.

Twitter has revealed how selected tweets were suppressed by their software to please the Left and suppress the news and opinions. I have seen wild fluxuations, downward after a huge volume of views on one topic - like the KJV.

This blog was also halted, the excuse being that something was not allowed, though the dire and threatening comments were never proven in any way. Reducing views is supposed to be far more subtle.

I expect to be teaching only Old Testament in the future, which will give me more time, energy, and freedom to publish on Biblical topics.

WELS stole this congregation's money and property, long after the DP kicked it out of the synod. What have they done with their booty?

9,000,032 Views - 19,141 Posts - 19,216 Comments - Founded 2007

Mrs. Ichabod and I waited for the numbers to roll over last night, but it took a few more hours to reach 9 million. Why don't the others put a counter on their sites?

I have some humorous remarks, but the best ones come from the opponents - see below. They are highly motivating for more blogging and books, as some might have guessed.

Controversies tend to call for books, and I learn a lot from writing each book. I appreciate the help I get from Christina, Norma A. Boeckler, Virginia Roberts, Terry Howell, and Janie Sullivan. I am working on the second edition of The Bible Book: The KJV Reborn for Those Who Love the Word of God.

Book reviews and comments provide more visibility for books. Thank you, Warren!
Now, everybody - put away your NIVs, ESVs, and New KJVs.

University of Phoenix Nomination for Faculty of the Year in Education

I hear a lot of good comments from my students in adult education. The University only gives one award per college, so it is great just to be nominated by a student.

My mother took 10 years to finish her BA at Augustana College, and a long time at night school and summer school for an MA. She was really pleased when I began teaching in Phoenix.

My favorite audience is Bethany Lutheran Church.

Not Alone - Happy Anniversary Alicia and Gary Meyer

 Happy Anniversary, Gary and Alicia.

One member wrote something like this, "We journey through life alone."

I agreed - in the sense of faith being individual. No one can make another one believe.

But I soon thought about the second greatest invention after the printing press - the Internet. Clayton M. Christensen became the advocate of disruptive economics, where a new player comes in and changes all the rules. That is why heritage industries often fail when facing a start-up with new rules.

As Ben Stein wrote long ago in the American Spectator, the Internet unites people with common interests. His father Herb Stein, famous economist under Nixon, enjoyed discussing his favorite books over the Net, with special interest groups.

Therefore, traditional Lutherans are not alone, thanks to the Internet. In fact, how else would I communicate with one person from Indiana, others in Iowa, a group of relatives in Washington, our Philippine missionary pastor, the East Coast, Michiganders, and many more?

Relatively few clergy respond individually, but quite a few read the blog. One person wrote me, laughing, that all the screens were on Ichabod during the WELS convention.

The daily connections really matter, and one person can make a crucial difference. One person suggested the House Postils and another person got them into print, with only a little help from me. the House Postils advocate kept suggesting the Election issue, which was Walther's attempt to back up CFW's Calvinistic Objective Justification. That will be a book this year, d.v.

Once we started on the printing of Pilgrim's Progress, another person said, "Why not have a class on it?" That is leading to another book.

HAL is colder than a Friendship Sunday in WELS.

Conversations (often - but not always - by email) accomplish a lot in dealing with doctrinal questions and addressing frustrations with the Age of HAL - the publisher's robot.

Thanks to streaming video, we can provide the Means of Grace for anyone with broadband and a computer. All we have is "spare room in a rented house," but our Founder started with far less.

Not going to comment on this fake name and photo.

RE:  Your post from 5:44 PM today.  The Septuagint is a translation of the Old Testament.  Translations although still containing the Word of God are not inspired by the Holy Ghost as you claimed in the blog post.  This is mis-leading (sic) and disingenuous.  You are twisting scripture to promote your agenda and false doctrine.

For one who is a stickler about spelling and grammar, you should really run your posts through spell checker.  It is 2019.  It makes you look hypocritical.  Of course, that is your drill, no?

GJ - Yes, those who write are quite aware of the problem of typos, and we all get a laugh from them. With 17,300+ posts, there are probably that many typos yet to be found.

I could reduce the number by posting nothing or by hiding behind fake names.

But I also look at the results
  • 2500 views yesterday
  • 2517 views today.
Could this be irritating the hyper-sensitive, humorless people who write angry, doctrine-illiterate emails?
