In Other News - Nominated Again for Faculty of the Year, UOP, in Education

"Never miss a chance to read in a quiet place and enjoy a perfectly made donut."

This is the second year in a row I was nominated Teacher of the Year in Education, at the University of Phoenix. I get a lot of positive reviews from the students there and also at Grand Canyon University.

UOP never made a big commitment to owning land, but leased buildings for flexibility. The various Christian seminaries should look back in regret at all the buildings they built for their egos, not for a quickly receding campus population. Vast numbers never attended more than a few campus courses, choosing by necessity to use the online education the faculty sneered at during the golden years.

More importantly, as seen in the letter from Yale Professor Paul Holmer, the denominations were racing into apostasy 40 years ago.

As I have told many people, I would not suggest anyone attend Yale Divinity School now, even with all an-paid scholarship and free books.

I bought this Fuller Seminary sweatshirt to wear at WELS gatherings. It was also worn at the late Northwestern Hazing College. Although the leadership of WELS was hypnotized by Fuller, they refused to admit their adoration for the cuckcoo-birds.

Two Graphics

Our artist-in-residence created this, and we are happy that Norma Boeckler reaches thousands on Facebook.

Gary Allen, Moline Class 1968, Photoshopped this graphic. Everything is true to life, except running, well perhaps running for a donut.

Astonishing Coincidences: Dateline, Moline Illinois

John and Diana Robeson were married on November 22, 1969, and so were the Jacksons.

All of us are Cubs fans, which means our parents
never saw a Cubs World Series win, place, or show.

I invented a cloaking device in chem-physics, but no one noticed.

John and I went to Plymouth Congregational Church, pre-school, and ended up as lab partners in chem-physics class.
I am in that photo - my uncredited cameo.
John and I earned PhDs and became university professors. There was another eventual PhD
in that class, but that was just in rocket science.

Christina and I had our anniversary photos
taken at Penney's.
John and Diana's children and grandchildren have hair
the color of bright, red pennies.

Engaged, 43 Years Ago, Today

Pastor and Mrs. Gregory L. Jackson

We were shopping, innocently, at Sam's Club. On the way out was a set-up for portraits, one day only. $10.

We came back for the sitting and found out the pick-up day would be December 9th, which is when we became engaged.

They started on the big package of prints, little realizing that I could share one print with 1270 Facebook friends, then with opponents from five or six Lutheran groups - on Ichabod.

We had lunch at our favorite restaurant - Rubiae's - and shared a chocolate moose. I said to the waitress, "This moose is a little small, eh?"

The chef is one of the best anywhere, but he charges no more than a franchise restaurant like Red Lobster.

We had to buy some frames and matting. I was reading the new book on Moline's Riverside Cemetery in the parking lot of the frame shop, perched high above the highway. Chris mentioned that to the owners. The wife said she went to Augustana, and they both lived in the Quad-Cities.
