Greek New Testament - Father's Day

Cleveland, 1973. Greek New Testament.

I tutored LI in Greek, but it was later. First we studied Latin by reading and translating the Gospel of John from the Vulgate. When we moved on to Greek, we used the Gospel of John again.

I emphasized immersion in the language itself with very little emphasis on grammar rules.

He checkmated me in about 12 moves -
I did not let him win, but I did admonish him for gloating.

We also spent time on military history, Lutheran doctrine, and classics of literature.

Later, LI tutored students in Latin and Greek, using those skills to learn a wide variety of computer languages, which are simpler than human languages.

Hugh Jackman came for the Walmart Christmas meeting,
and led in the singing of Gloria in Excelsis Deo.
We shook hands with him afterwards - the only celebrity to hang around afterwards
to meet people.

Our grandson, at the age of eight, is going through the superhero stage. LI and I can say, "We not only saw Wolverine in person, but we shook hands with him." We had Superman, Batman, and Flash comics at the same age. I bought one collector's item long ago and had it priced at $100 later. It was a duplication, large size, of the very first Superman comic. Alex has it now - or maybe his dad has it.

Alex helped me with the rose garden at our last grill-fest. He and his mom enjoyed it so much that we are going to do a joint rose garden at their home, which is not far away.

Like his sisters, Alex is great company. I may be a little biased toward my grandchildren, but a visiting friend said, "They could make a doll out of him." He walked around the property taking excellent photos of everyone (and some holes in the yard). He was delighted to learn that would be his own digital camera. He is generous with his hugs and sends Grammy into Nirvana.

He got there too late to electrify the Falls - Tesla did that already.
How about changing retail technology for all time?

I do not understand why so few men pay attention to their children. Work is not important, apart from making a living. If someone thinks he really matters at any place, especially a congregation, he only needs to wait a few years to find out the reality. Time spent with the family, away from work, is the best memory of all. And this time spent is the foundation for all future happiness.

I remember that photo with the Greek NT testament like it was yesterday. Everything that happens now is associated with a memory flashback - raking leaves in the yard, cooking together (homemade bread in the past), Bondo-ing the car.

The only way to have those memories is to build them, day by day. That is God's plan, to build society through the family: husband, wife, children, and pets.
