From the Ovaltine Breakfast Club

 "Make mine a double!"

At the Central Illinois District Convention in July, the following information was shared with delegates on the current status of vacant LCMS parishes:

1. There are 475 vacant LCMS parishes who are actively calling a pastor.

In the recent past this number has been about 400.

2 There are 1,000 vacant LCMS congregations who cannot afford to call and pay a salary for a full-time pastor.   There are about 5,900 parishes in the entire LCMS.

The Purple Palace for the LCMS rests on land once owned by the nearby Catholic high school. WELS has a similar Vatican. But much can be done from a spare room in a rented house, if they but trusted in the Means of Grace.

GJ - Actively calling a pastor - from what I hear - means trolling for candidates, waiting for various things to happen, and getting turned down. This can go on for several years.

The synod and district presidents have treated many pastors like dirt, but they protect and promote clergy who would have been jailed in days past.

America is watching the collapse of the denomination system, which let their headquarters take over the decisions and the money mismanagement.
