Cardinals Love Their New Tree Stumps.
"Woodman, Spare That Tree"

Woodman Spare That Tree

Woodman, spare that tree!
Touch not a single bough!
In youth it sheltered me,
And I'll protect it now.
'Twas my forefather's hand
That placed it near his cot:

There, woodman, let it stand,
Thy axe shall harm it not!

I was happy to grab two cylinders of the tree cut down the other day. This morning I hauled them out of the trunk and set them up in the Jackson Bird Spa.

They needed some food to welcome them, and soon a male and female cardinal were on the stumps, enjoying the seed.
