Werning and Hunter Nixed, But Not Leonard Sweet?

Kent Hunter, The Church Doctor, was inadvertently labeled Ben Dover in another post.

Anon #1 is right. It wasn't cancelled. The Church Door Symposium with Malphurs, Kent Hunter and Waldo Werning was the event that was cancelled.

GJ - I heard before that Sweet's conference still took place in 2005. I know Charis was very miffed about a cancellation.

Fortunately, I am far enough away from synod rot to remain ignorant of all the details. I did not receive an invitation to either event.

Issues in WELS fell apart after DP Free died. Issues in WELS no longer has a website.

Church and Chicanery continues. They have their own website and a new conference planned for 2009. Their conference, website, and networking constitute an ideal way for a group to leave the synod if they can no longer lead the WELS.

Those who want to quit WELS should put their efforts into backing the efficacious Word in the Means of Grace. Apparently SP Schroeder is the only one at The Love Shack to have a Lutheran position.

If the Church and Chicaneries toss SP Schroeder out at the 2009 convention, their daily goal, then quitting WELS would be the best option.

If the C and C Bund fails at the convention, some of them will quit and join Missouri (my best guess). Some may quit and stay independent, to see which way the swamp gas is blowing. St. Mark Depere is already a member of the Willow Creek Association, so they have their fellowship arranged already.
