1 Corinthians 11
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

John 13
Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;
Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
Maundy Thursday
The name for this holy day is taken from the Latin word for commandment. Jesus said He was giving them a new commandment - "Love one another as I have loved you." Of course, many people would like to emphasize the fights and divisions of Christianity, and mock Christians as well. But they are evidence of the opposition that comes up against faith in Jesus Christ, who predicted division, just as it happened in His public ministry. The more miracles He performed, the more people objected to Him or demanded even more miracles.
False sects grew as soon as Jesus ascended into heaven, and they wanted some of Jesus' power but only in their own way. Some things were predicted during His ministry, such as raising the status of the Virgin Mary. Others popped up for the first two centuries and faded as the Gospel spread and the New Testament was circulated with the Old Testament Scriptures. That alone is proof of how the Christian Faith spread. The greater the good, the more people become jealous and angry, creating their own ideas and enforcing them.
Did Jesus at any time hint that men and women should be alone, instead of being married, and create monks and nuns who ran businesses as special holy acts? Did He predict and enforce Purgatory - for the semi-saved in a partial Hell? They began as monks with shaved heads and created a world-wide business in gowns, scents, candles, hay-bale beards, and holy places.
Documentaries about the history of Europe point out that going to "sacred places" was an enormous business that also promoted the "sacred" items of the saints. A portion of one of these saints is placed in every single Roman Catholic Church. I am tempted to call them Holiday Inns, because Holiday does mean Holy Day. The stress on so many interesting items - whether true or not - decreases what Jesus taught them about faith in Him.
Jesus said, KJV John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Love does not spring up on its own but comes as one of the first three fruits of the Spirit - love, joy, peace. The "fruit" of the Spirit is singular and enormous, like a harvest, because trust in the Savior gives access to grace and an abundance of spiritual treasures. We also think of "fruits" because there are so many ways that faith leads believers to express the famous list from Galatians 5 (and there are more)

When faith is abundant, so is forgiveness. When we are burdened for many different reasons, joy diminishes. And who can lift the burden better than the Savior? The Scriptures are filled with joyful, loving, peace-filled thoughts, all going back to faith in the Holy Trinity.
Each person is a part of the way we are woven together, various talents, various backgrounds, various insights. If you want to see a pair perfectly opposite, look at marriage. That is almost always true, so the attraction can become the friction. And yet, as God decreed, the husband and wife - the two will become one over time, revealing strengths and overcoming difficulties. When we shopped with separate carts, we would come together and start putting them on the belt for the cashier. The first time, Christina liked to say, "Yes, we shop separately. We have been married 50 years." The cashier would be impressed, so I did my part, "I asked you to stop complaining in public." That made everyone laugh the first time, and she kept prompting the same response. Those things reverberate in our memories.
