WELS/ELS Illiterates Jump To Defend a Corrupted Text and Bad Translations.
Jay Webber Needs the NIV for Justification without Faith

Next book after Walther - Broken Biblical Foundations, Corrupt Translations

  • Joe Jewell What a gem of a find! A pretty thoughtful comment.

  • David Jay Webber When the "Saint James" Bible (as Reagan actually says at one point) is compared to the Good News Bible, then KJV will win out. It's too easy. But KJV devotees will have a harder time making the case that a literal and literary version like the ESV is not to be preferred for the 21st century.

GJ - I would be shocked if the clergy defending the bad modern translations based on corrupted texts could actually translate and teach the Greek New Testament. No evidence exists for that. Instead, their vainglory shines through their smirking statements.

I see that Jay jumped on Reagan's slip - "St. James." That was a frequent slip of the tongue when people were allowed to use the KJV. I heard it in conversation many times. People laughed but no one thought the slip provided an argument for removing the Virgin Birth from Isaiah 7, chopping off the ending of Mark, and other inanities.

This does not exist - the Greek New Testament for the NIV and ESV, so loved by WELS-LCMS-ELS. Yes, you can buy a book or use Bible Gateway for the latest, laughable results, but the Mother of All Debacles came from Wescott and Hort (mostly Hort) choosing the worst and most corrupted manuscripts, a tiny minority of them all, to be the standard of excellency. That is like making the dope of the class the valedictorian, based on popularity and alcohol abuse.

Which manuscripts are so loved by Wescott, Hort, and the other apostates that they excel those used by the ancients? The KJV destroyers adore:

  1. Sinaiticus - whose magical existence was promoted by Tischendorf.
  2. Vaticanus - another favorite of Tischendorf.
  3. D - One of the worst manuscripts of all times.

The traditional Greek New Testament has thousands of copies, backed by quotations from the Church Fathers, translations, etc. The variant readings are few and often explained by the copying dozing off or just being sloppy.

Hort invented some rules which have nothing to do with reality. Some others were involved in these crimes, too. They turned the New Testament into their plaything, violating the original scope of the project many times over.

Simply put, they did a lot of removing of words and verses, swapping words, and causing confusion.

It was like taking the dumbest students in seminary and making them circuit pastors, district presidents, and seminary professors - just like the LCMS-WELS-ELS now.

Hort hated the traditional text and devoted his life to displacing it. Resistance was great from 1881 to the 1950s, but the newly ordained morons began shilling for the NIV, anything other than the KJV. WELS mocked the KJV and promoted the NIV long before they made it official by kicking out KJV pastors.

The old NIV did not provide support for Justification without Faith, Jay Webber's favorite delusion. However, the current NIV added an "all" to Romans 3 - never found in any text - to grant Objective Justification a foothold. My Babtist undergraduates said, "That may be true, but Justification by Faith is still there." That was an example of people reading and see the plain truth that eludes the arrogant scoffers of today.

Seminary training is not very deep, but it does serve to put the corporate stamp on young minds, so they see that objecting to official positions as a road to nowhere.

The modern "improvements" so loved by the WELS Disgusting Board include:

  • Removing the divinity of Christ;
  • Disguising the Sacraments;
  • Manufacturing disciples;
  • Making gratuitous changes to sow confusion.

The moderns are ecumenical so they are naturally anti-Biblical and anti-Lutheran. They tend toward the universal antidote to Lutheran doctrine - Calvinism. That makes them one step away from Unitarianism.

The KJV is precise and retains the high level of manuscript fidelity which the recent apostates were so eager to corrupt. Like Shakespeare, the KJV is not for tiny, lazy minds.

The so-called translations come the Nida school of stupidity, where the editors assume they can provide a better version of God's revelation than the Holy Spirit has given us. Dynamic equivalence from the Nidites is so energetic that it runs right past the actual text, even their own invented one.
