Possible witnesses in ex-Arkansas lawmaker's trial include 2 constitutional officers, several legislators

FAYETTEVILLE — Potential witnesses during the corruption trial of former state Sen. Jon Woods include at least two of the state’s constitutional officers and several current and former legislators.

Possible witnesses in ex-Arkansas lawmaker's trial include 2 constitutional officers, several legislators:

"Potential witnesses named so far include state Auditor Andrea Lea, state Treasurer Dennis Milligan and state Republican Party Chairman Doyle Webb.

Current and former lawmakers, some of whom directed Improvement Fund grants to the college, were also on the list. They include Sen. Bart Hester, R-Cave Springs; state Sen. Bryan King, R-Green Forest; state Rep. Bob Ballinger, R-Berryville; state Rep. Charlie Collins, R-Fayetteville; state Rep. Dan Douglas, R-Bentonville and former state Rep. Duncan Baird, R- Lowell, who is now with the state Department of Finance and Administration.

Ten current or former legislators directed state grants to Ecclesia College from 2013 through March 2015 totaling $617,500. The figure doesn’t include $100,000 the college received where records are unclear who gave the money."

Paris pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of fraud, prompting Woods' attorney, Patrick Benca, to ask U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks for a delay in the trial. Brooks denied the motion in a pretrial hearing later Wednesday but said he would consider written motions for delay later if the defense encounters problems it cannot overcome.
Paris has agreed to testify for the government against his former co-defendants. He pleaded guilty to transferring $50,000 of $200,000 in grant money from Woods and Neal to Shelton. Shelton sent $40,000 of the money to Woods as a kickback, according to Paris' plea.

Here Are Some Links To Show the False Claims of the Biblical Modernists

Here is the main King James Version page, for many resources. Which translation is closest to Luther's Bible? The KJV, thanks to Tyndale working in Germany and studying at Wittenberg.

Is your Bible more like the Jehovah's Witness version?

You are right, Jethro. This is just like the NIV. Thanks!

See, your synod would grow if you just admitted you use something like our JW Bible. WELS already has a catechism based on the NIV rather than the bad old KJV.

Starting To Deal with the Attack on the Bible via Text Criticism - aka Lower Criticism

Tischendorf - the PT Barnum of Biblical studies,
but at least everyone knew Barnum was a showman.

I have to keep this short, so I am relying on a video sent me by our Lutheran Librarian, Alec Satin.

The initial point I want to make is that the attack on the Bible began by making people uncertain about the text, using text criticism, or lower criticism. Once that jelled or fermented, the experts pursued higher criticism, often called the Historical Critical Method, to question the doctrine of the Bible.

Typical of the Historical Critical Method -

  • The Trinitarian ending of Matthew was "put on the lips of Jesus" by the early Church. Smug smile follow.
  • John does teach Jesus as the Son of God. It is clearly Hellenistic and very late, 300 or 400 AD, not written by an apostle.
  • The Bible contains God's Word, but it is not God's Word (Barfians everywhere, especially the Fulleroids.)

From that came Canon Criticism and the following gem in a Lutheran sermon -

  • The Bible you say? The Bible could have 30 books or 100 books in it. It was a decision of men about books written by men.

The above bulleted points are entirely wrong and given as statements commonly used by those influenced by these snake oil salesmen.

How Strange - The Weak and Disabled Are Treated as Lepers - Their Disorders Are Not Contagious - Ther Joy Is

Bethany changed the life of her favorite nurse.
The staff called her Angel for her golden curls.

Erin Joy was nicknamed Joy by her nurses, who were pleasantly surprised to learn that was her given middle name.
We called her Erin "Where's the Party?" Jackson. She loved to hear that.

The surest way to become a leper in today's world is to be weak and disabled. We saw that many times over, among relatives, friends, and church members.

Fortunately, that situation righted itself. The majority do not want to be reminded that someone can be weakened by a mysterious disorder, that doctors cannot cure everything with medicine and surgery.

The minority got to enjoy two little girls who could not talk but communicated very well with their eyes, facial expressions, pouts, smiles, and laughter.

A truck carrying glass came close to running into us, because we were stuck on an odd road behind the Cleveland Clinic. The driver was not looking forward as the light turned green. His companion could not get him to look ahead. My horn did not work. We were taking Erin for treatment. Both vehicles came to a stop. Everything was fine. My wife said, "Look at it this way. There was no better place to be hit by a glass truck. They could have been picking glass out of us in five minutes." Erin burst into laughter, and so did we, front and back seats building up the laughter.

Erin came into the Emergency Room laughing, which caused the nurse to say, "Most do not visit us laughing."
