A Bigger Crime Than the Biggest Breaking Scandals - The Biblical Text

 It all depends on how we read it, eh?

Very few clergy know Hebrew and Greek. Hardly any clergy have a working knowledge of Greek, which is fairly easy to learn. Of that group of New Testament Greek users, a tiny fraction are familiar with text criticism.

Like the Three Gorges Dam, the modern Bible starts out without a direct connection to bedrock. They were in a hurry to build the dam, which was a money-maker, so they did not dig all the way down to the bedrock. Bibles are money-makers, so there is hardly such a thing as a new Bible that does not gush money for the sponsors.

 Profiles in discourage - WELS President Schroeder hated the New NIV but went along with approving all translations, which made the NIV the official Calvinist, Objective Justification Bible.

Key people working on the text of the New Testament were apostates and charlatans, so they created their own foundation material by attacking the traditional text, the basis for Luther's Bible and the KJV. Tischendorf had his pets - Sinaiticus and Vaticanus. Hort had his fakey text theories spun out of his head and designed to remove the traditional text, which he loathed.

• Picking a starting date of 1880, we can see that it only took 140 years for the traditional text of the Bible to be cast out like a leper, 
• from congregations, 
• from colleges, 
• from seminaries, 
• from any discussion of the Bible. 

From 1950 until now, the KJV went from dominant and trusted to rejected and distrusted.

ELDONA prides itself on being almost 100% pure Ft. Waynish, the seminary for guys who do not know Hebrew or Greek, with some possible exceptions. The practical seminary was designed for those without an academic foundation for theology, which used to mean - for Biblical studies. Want a call but in a hurry? - skip the foundation and get an MDiv from Ft. Wayne.

ELDONA has no use for the KJV or any modernized KJV (New KJV, KJV 21, etc). They like the outrageous NIV and the equally laughable ESV, both thoroughly Calvinistic and corrupt.

The same is true of the Little Sect on the Prairie, the Missouri Synod, and the Wisconsin Abusive Sect.

Now that the text is an adiaphoron, so is the translation a matter of indifference. The whipped cream decorating the cow paddy is "dynamic equivalence," turning the original text (OK, ignore that concept) turning the invented text into what the Holy Spirit really meant but was incapable of articulating.

The results are in. Statistically -

1. No one is using the original text, with very few exceptions.
2. No one is using a precise translation of the original text.
3. Vast numbers are learning from the New NIV that "the entire world is forgiven," Romans 3.

 Many individual words are removed, too, and the traditional translation is footnoted to indicate there is another way of understanding it - young woman, instead of virgin in Isaiah 7.

Dishonest Communication - The Bible Itself - First the Text, Then the Horrid Translations - Finally, the Big Shun - No KJV Edition Can Be Mentioned, Discussed, Or Even Acknowledged

 The EHV - Not a Translation But a Version of One Already Done

This is where it all began - with "scientific texts" and "dynamic equivalence."

The first onslaught against the Bible as God's Word was the fraudulent activity of Tischendorf, Wescott, and Hort. They used Tischendorf's fake finds as excuses to start playing with the traditional text of the New Testament. Wescott and Hort invented rules which are hilariously contradictory and self-serving. "The more difficult reading is preferred." More difficult for a Christian or for a fraud? Naturally the rules can be debated, so there is no final solution.

The three text amigos did their job. They gave everyone a license to cut and paste the New Testament text. Most clergy are like Walther, with hardly any Biblical language ability. Very few of those clergy and professors know anything about text criticism and its history. That puts the vast majority of all Christians at the mercy of a few people in the world.

Another poisoned pill from Larry, Moe, and Curly is the new rule. Have you heard it? No? "We must have a Bible based on a scientific text." That is a little gentler than NO KJV IN ANY EDITION!

They have exiled the KJV and such variations as New KJV, KJV 21 because of their faithful text. The new Bibles - ESV and NIV - have carved up the Bible pie, for they are favored by:

1. All denominations
2. All colleges and seminaries
3. All theological programs.

The prices are very high for new Bibles, so each one is like a bar of gold for the publisher and those church organizations getting kickbacks from the sales.

The ELS-ELDONA-LCMS-WELS clergy are quite fastidious about fellowship principles. As hyper-Pietists, they have a highly developed style in shunning people who do not match their sanctity sanctimony.

The only person they really shun is moi, and the only Bible they genuinely shun is the KJV. Yes, the KJV not only maintains the concept of precise translation, but is a direct descendant of Luther's German Bible, a brilliant achievement by the Reformer and his team of translators. They influenced Tyndale, whose translation was edited into the KJV.

The Best Translations of the Bible

 Butterfly Weed is an attractive cousin of Milkweed.
You need to know that for the following story.

I worked on Ranger Bob's tax return today, so he was at the front door. He said, "I smell a weed." I responded, "I have quite a few herbs growing in the garden." He insisted, "No. I smell a weed." Finally, I said, "This is Butterfly Weed in front of us, a cousin of Milkweed." He said, "I knew that smell. I grew up with a lot of Milkweed, so I recognized it."

When someone asked me about the best translations, soon after that, I had the same reaction. I grew up with the King James Version, which remains enormously popular - for many reasons.

Reason #1 - Modern Translations - Bad NT Text
The first reason is important - the traditional text. All modern translations indulge in playing around with Greek New Testament text. That weakness goes back 100 years - even Lenski participated in it. Blame Tischendorf, Wescott and Hort.

The King James translations use the traditional text.

 Tischendorf used Sinaiticus and Vaticanus to undermine the tradition text from 1100 years of Byzantine Greek Bibles.
Guess who "found" them? Tischy the lying scoundrel.

Reason #2 - Modern Translations Are Anti-Sacrament, Anti-Means of Grace
Every modern translation comes from a gaggle of denominations, plus non-Christian experts and Left-wing radicals. They are selling a product, not translating. They want to please as many as possible, because printing Bibles = printing money. And this kind of printing money is perfectly legal. As I have shown, the Lutherans are just as Calvinistic (anti-Means of Grace Enthusiasts) as the Calvinists are. Why would anyone market a Bible with traditional Lutherans in mind? Traditional Lutherans are as rare as misers at a casino.

Reason #3 - Modern Translations Have Adopted the Dynamic Equivalence Method (Anything Goes) of the Apostate Nida
Eugene Nida was not the leader they needed, but the apostate they wanted. He installed a new method of translating, really paraphrasing, which gave a license to making up words and expressions not in the text. The alleged translators know what the Holy Spirit would have said if He had their insights into modernism, evolution, and women's ordination.

He Spurred a Babel of Bibles - NY Times, and died at age 96. Finding negative articles about Nida is difficult because everyone preached him into Heaven and beyond when he finally died.The research is out there among KJV fans.

The Only Solution - King James Version and Modern KJVs
OK, purists - first some frank talk. The KJVs we buy are slightly updated, many years ago. No one reads the original KJV.

And what was the original KJV? That came from a committee seeking to create One English Bible. For that they used Tyndale as their standard, but he was burned at the stake by an earlier king, so The Tyndale Version was a non-starter. Besides that, he was guided by Luther and Melanchthon, studied at Wittenberg, and printed his first English Bibles there.

And I do not mean little Wittenberg College in Springfield, Ohio.

So Tyndale was guided by the precise methods of Luther and his group of brilliant Biblical scholars, certainly among the best of all ages.

Luther:
“In my translation of the Bible I strove to use pure and intelligible German. Our quest for an expression could sometimes last four weeks without us being happy with our work. (…) In addition, I have not worked on my own: I recruited assistants from everywhere. I tried to speak in German, not Greek nor Latin. But to speak German one should not turn to texts in Latin. The house-wife, children playing, people in the street are those to learn from: listening to them teaches one how to speak and to translate – then they will understand you and know how to speak your language.” (Luther, An Open Letter on Translating)

So there is the family tree of the KJV. The KJV alone traces its origin to the Lutheran Reformation, that Reformation where men were burned at the stake, exiled, and imprisoned for faithfulness to the Word.

The Bible I use most of the time and quote all of the time is the KJV. For those not used to the older English, there are many modern versions in various configurations. The KJV21 and Third Millennium send an essay on precise translation with their books. Point by point comparisons show how weak, erroneous, and misleading the modernistic translations paraphrases are.

If you want to read the Word of God, start and end with the King James group of translations.

Why is "the faith of Jesus" found three times in the KJV
and not known outside the KJV? The Greek is clear.

Destroying the Foundations of Biblical Study. Rebuilding the Foundations

Many posts come from discussions with readers. Today I show how the foundations of Biblical study have been destroyed by the Evangelicals and Lutherans. But they can be repaired.

 Tischendorf was a con artist who manipulated the facts to make himself a great hero.

Text Criticism of the New Testament, aka Lower Criticism
The foundation - in the modern age - came from Count Tischendorf and the Wescott/Hort team. These three men led the field in creating a pseudo-science of text critcism with their own ideas, which are really assumptions. This field of study centers on the New Testament.

For example, one assumption - which they call a rule - is that the shorter reading is better than the longer one. But that does not bear the weight of a few questions. A story can be shortened or lengthened by retelling it. Length does not change its veracity.

Another assumption is that the more difficult reading for traditional Christians is the better one. That means one account is more factual and mythical elements were added over time. So a miraculous healing began as someone thinking he was sick, then thinking he was healthy after meeting Jesus. The rationalists like Mark's Gospel, because they think Mark is early.

A third assumption is that the mass of manuscripts preserved by the Greek, Byzantine Church are inferior to the ones discovered and promoted by Count Tischendorf. The eevul Orthodox Greeks must have suppressed the good ones that the Count found and promoted.

The Bible is better preserved than any other ancient text of any kind, and we have earlier versions of the Bible than we do of more modern books.  However, the modern translations follow Tischendorf, Wescott, and Hort. The KJV Bibles (older and newer) do not.

Canon Criticism
Jews and Christians have regarded the books of their traditions as canonical, rejecting the other ones as questionable. Making a big study of this leads the apostates to say with glee, "There could be 20 books in the entire Bible - or 100! It is not God's Word to man, but man's word about God."

Scepticism fuels canon criticism, and canon criticism supports scepticism - as long as the facts are concealed. An apostate will seize upon any factoid to support his attitude that the Bible is just one more religious book.

The Great Barth at work - teaching the Bible contains the Word of God. He conveniently erased the Sixth Commandment.

Higher Criticism - The Historical-Critical Method - HCM
All Biblical "scholarship" today is concentrated in the Historical-Critical Method, which by definition treats the Bible as any other book.

That means every issue is debatable.

1. Did Paul write Romans? Did he hate women? Rather - how much did he hate women? 
2. Did Jesus ever consider Himself divine? 
3. When did the Trinity really develop as dogma - and how did that change the original New Testament texts?
4. How do we separate the mythical from the historical in the Bible?
5. How did Hellenistic philosophy influence the Gospel of John?
6. How did Paul turn Jesus the Rabbi into the Son of God?
7. Etc. etc. etc. So much baloney and it gets far worse with the HCM gurus supporting the Lavender Mafia.

The old mainline schools like Princeton and Yale were orthodox a century or more ago. Now all the university departments and seminaries are 100% HCM.

Fuller Seminary is the dedicated to this modernism and remains the guiding light of Protestantism - especially the "conservative" Lutherans: LCMS-WELS-ELS-CLC (sic). Roman Catholics are HCM and Eastern Orthodox do not care.

How To Repair the Foundations
I am an expert in desserts, after growing up in a bakery and enjoying between-the-snacks snacks all day long. Donuts and cookies make someone hungry for cookies and donuts, which is why we took food breaks.

We ate real meals away from the bakery. Nothing kills an appetite for donuts, cookies, and candy like meat, potatoes, vegetables, and salad.

The only way to fix the problem among Lutherans is to return to the text, in Hebrew where possible, in Greek often. All the theories have been published and they will be recycled every few years. The only certainty we have, as Nils Dahl stated in class, is "The text!"

 Nils Dahl studied under Bultmann and debated Bultmann's assumptions - Dahl taught "The Text!"

The Text!
Ministers should be studying the text of the Bible (not helper books written by synod simpletons) and the laity should be as studious. That alone will kill the appetite for corn sugar candy delivered by the religious press. It also prevents the foothold false doctrine is always seeking.

NT Greek
Greek is easy to learn and to teach. The WELS pastors are supposedly infallible, as Tim Glende claimed, because "They. Study. Greek!" Why not teach Greek to their children and also the congregation? Not everyone wants to learn NT Greek, but why hold back?

What a difference, to study the actual text and compare parallel verses? All the text-based scholarly books make sense - Lenski, Kittel, dictionaries, etc.

The English language is formed from Greek, Latin, and German, which are also the theological languages. At the very worst, a language education will make someone far more appreciative of our English language, medicine, law, and science terms.

The Quia Marias talk about the Confessions. Do they teach the text of the Confessions? I doubt it.
