The Difference Between Apostasy and Confession of Faith

Some people try to fit in with the Andy Stanley/Craig Groeschel
clown ministry model.

Apostasy is falling away from the Christian faith, predicted in the pastoral epistles and 2 Thessalonians.

KJV 1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith [verb form of apostasy], giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

KJV 2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

KJV 2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away [apostasy] first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

A Baptist is opposed to infant faith and infant baptism, most of all to baptismal regeneration. Baptists and associated groups always use immersion.

Many Lutheran pastors are ga-ga
over Rick Warren. Why?

Andy Stanley and Rick Warren are both Baptists, but they avoid the term like herpes. They think their confession of faith might hinder the numerical growth of their congregations, so they hide what they believe.

Crypto-Babtist Andy Stanley sold a bunch of WELS workers
on attending his worship conference.
Glende's pal, Ski, blogged about the awesome worship at Northpoint Community Church.

Andy Stanley has a big D-Day event for dedicating babies, which includes a designated professional photographer. Apparently that is their imitation or mockery of infant baptism. Imitation is sincerest form of flattery, but out of place with Biblical doctrine.

What does a congregation believe or not believe? My friend wanted his baby baptized at an Evangelical Free congregation. The minister said, "We do not believe in infant baptism, but we will baptize babies for those who wish."

Doctrine and practice merge, so a church's practice says more about its beliefs than any formal statement. How many WELS congregations have "Christian Academies" that are really day-care businesses for the pastor's wife and friends?

"Jesus is my rice,"
says WELS Church and Changer Jeff Gunn.

First, the name goes. Robert Schuller pioneered this by making his Dutch Reformed congregation "Garden Grove Community Church." All the big Fuller clones have community churches or oddball names that avoid the term church.

Next, the statement of faith turns generic. As David Becker wrote in Christian News, Time of Grace is completely generic, fitting the nickname I gave it long ago - Time of Generic Grace. Is it Lutheran? No one could accuse them of Lutheran doctrine. The TV show is listed as Mark Jeske on Daystar, and Mark Jeske never stops promoting Mark Jeske.

I gave up matching all the WELS congregations with Rick Warren generic confessions. That is one certain sign of apostasy. A congregation wants to be LCMS or WELS or something else for the base of members, but they are nothing distinctive for the general population.

The apostates answer, "But look at how well we do!" Yes, they are skilled at turning large populations into indifferent worshipers of the Old Adam, excellent preparation for Unitarian-Universalism.

Bishop Katie sent a Tweet where she rejoiced over finding former members of Jeske's congregation (where she worked with Ski) at Granger Community Church (where she and Ski were learning how to "do church," something missing at Mequon).

The big laugh--or sob--will be the populations of all these generic emergent churches leaving Holy Mother Synod. The strength of the current generation is leaving quickly because those Lutherans were raised on a catechism (not Kuske's) and taught something of substance.

May you prosper like Schuller,
may you leave an indelible bad impression on everyone,
and may you take your minions down the same road to perdition.

Coffee Is For Closers

He was pastor of the largest WELS parish in New Hampshire.
Was he selected to close MLS?

Blake: Put. That coffee. Down.
[pause]
Blake: Coffee's for closers only.

And I quote:

"Pastor Joel Petermann has accepted the divine Call extended by the Governing Board of Michigan Lutheran Seminary to be the next president of the school.  Pastor Petermann will transition from his present pastorate at the only WELS congregation in New Hampshire, and from the presidency of the North Atlantic district of WELS.  We ask the Lord's blessings on his service."

Narcissicism Alert

Tim Glende and the Black-eye Peas

rlschultz has left a new comment on your post "Tim Glende Did Not Transform This Narcissist":

This is a prime example of an exaggerated sense of self worth. What type of individual would want to have their picture taken with such a self-absorbed snob and then post it on the Net? What is worse are the fans who rationalize this brand of sociopathic behavior.

Jeski Change or Die! Inspirations:
Rock Music
And The Sigmoid

Since Mark Jeske and Ski are hotter than Georgia asphalt for rock music, this little assault on the brain and eardrums is probably well known to them.

Using a rock song as a title for their pan-Lutheran ministry conference shows how cool they are (in their imagination).

Kerwen Steffen has this sigmoid growth curve concept in his materials.

Here is an earlier Ichabod post about Steffen, a Jeske buddy.

A short reference to it is found here.

I hope they present the sigmoid concept at the Jeske conference. Perhaps Dr. Ben Dover will be able to discuss it. He should bring his lovely nurse, Ann Kauf.

Stealth Calendar at The CORE.
Does This Need Commentary?

The CORE
Events from one or more calendars could not be shown here because you do not have the permission to view them.

***

GJ - One of the more glaring defects of WELS Church and Change is the need for secrecy. People ask in vain:
  1. Where are copies of these plagiarized sermons from Groeschel? After all, Groeschel himself stated that pastors should give him credit for copying his original work.
  2. What pastoral conference was attended in Seattle, since WELS held no conferences at all that week?
  3. Who is funding this extravagant pipeline from Groeschel's LifeChurch.tv? Shouldn't the Methodists kick in some money for promoting Methodism?
  4. The Change or Die! brochure brags that Ski has 300 people each Sunday evening. How many are WELS members from the area? If services were held Sunday morning, how many would attend?
  5. Apart from Daddy Warbucks, what is the giving there? Can this model work in other areas - having a vanity project that burns up oodles of money to gather members from the same synod for evening rock music?

old-curmudgeon (http://old-curmudgeon.myopenid.com/) has left a new comment on your post "Stealth Calendar at The CORE.Does This Need Commen...":

Stealth too often means untrustworthy.

***

GJ - For sure, Old Curmudgeon. Most churches promote everything on their calendars rather than hiding them. The CORE's sermon titles were listed far in advance, which is how people connected them so easily with Groeschel's.

The Circuit of Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
Where Glende Fires the Circuit Pastor.
Not Apt To Teach

I had to set up a menu of links for the latest examples of pastoral care in the Anything Goes District of WELS, headed by Deputy Doug Englebrecht, aka Cap'n Huff N Puff.

Some highlights reveal, in the posts below, or linked on the extreme left:
1. WELS Pastor Tim Glende denied plagiarizing Craig Groeschel.
2. Not one Intrepid spoke up at the Northern District convention, but they did -
a. Gerrymander the district to remove the annoying circuit pastor.
b. Re-elect Deputy Doug Englebrecht.
3. Rick is not allowed to transfer to another WELS congregation for doctrinal reasons, because they all agree about doctrine. That part is probably true of Fox Valley. They work with and fund The Salvation Army, for pity's sake.
4. Blogg-watcher Tim Glende has assumed the right to censor the blog of one of his members, not for being wrong, but for being right. Relax Rick, he does the same thing for me, through his anonymous blogs which appear and disappear again, according to whim.
5. The St. Peter council has no problem with plagiarism or the promotion of false doctrine. Neither does the District President.
6. Choosing to believe is a Lutheran doctrine - news to me. Mequon supports it - not news to me.

Let unsaid is the decided doctrinal cowardice of the Synod President, the circuit pastors, the members and pastors.

Rick called me a few names for publishing his 29-page letter. He already published it by sending it to the numbskulls of his district. Somebody passed it along somewhere, because I got it. There is an old saying, "It's secret until you tell another person." It is not a secret when you send a letter to a dozen or more. So, please do not try our patience by claiming a felony when it was not even a misdemeanor.

I was doing everyone a favor. A supreme court justice wrote, "Sunlight is the best disinfectant."

That is why WELS wants everything undercover. They keep the murders, abuse, and embezzlements a secret for two reasons. One is to maintain their holier than thou image (which few believe anyway). The other is to track anyone who leaks. If most are afraid to tell, the search is narrowed to a few.

No one ever asks, "Is this true?" or "What are we doing about this horrible mess?" They ask, "Who told you?" That by itself implies a profound fear that the truth may come out.

That was the big question when a journalist asked SP Gurgle about the pastor promoted to a cush job for being an adulterer. He asked one pastor, "Did you tell?" That pastor asked me, "Did you tell?" I am seldom the ultimate source.

I am more like Walmart or Sears. I do not manufacture the news. I distribute it. There are many sources and they keep changing.

The most significant source is the Internet. These blokes cannot stop bragging about themselves, so they leave the evidence all over the Net. I could track what The SORE was doing from their website, Katie's Tweets, Ski's Tweets, and a few other accounts, like Stetzer's.

Tim Glende's response has been to suggest paying $20 a month for a service that will zap the results of a Google search. Just donate the money to Bethany Lutheran instead, because at 500,000 page reads a year, Ichabod is not being de-rezzed from the Internet searches.

KJV 2 Timothy 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Ski and Glende are not apt to teach. They are inept. They have admitted that by plagiarizing Groeschel and copying many other Enthusiasts. DP Doug is no better, because he is unable to teach Lutheran doctrine in his snow-shrouded corner of Lutherdom.

Where are the stalwarts of Lutheran doctrine? Not at Mequon. I have seen quivering bowls of Jello with more substance. Not at The Guilt Factory, formerly known as The Love Shack.

Kelmed from Pastor Tim Glende's Anonymous Blog

The Groeschel plagiarizer even kelmed the name of my blog.

We haven't commented on this blog for some time because Greg Jackson continues to spew the same old slander on "Ichabod, the Glory Has Departed." If you dig deep enough through the garbage, you can find a gem of truth every now and then. For example, this "independent Lutheran pastor," who really is not a pastor at all because he has no call, reveals what he really thinks of himself by posting this picture of St. Gregory of Arkansas.

***

GJ - This is too comical for words. No wonder an attorney in his congregation had to write an enormous letter detailing all the wrongs done by Glende as an inept, bullying and plagiarizing false teacher.

This is the beginning of the letter about Glende's "stewardship of the mysteries of God." He has not been found faithful.

Mrs. Ichabod was on the phone with a friend when I went out to feed the birds with Sassy, the three-legged wonder dog. I heard her say, "St. Francis is feeding the birds." I came back in and created a Photoshop, which amused people with a sense of humor.

The attorney's letter about Glende had no effect. WELS is adept at one thing - letting things get worse and worse. Apparently SP Schroeder's secretive emails assure people he is working on it - the 30 year plan.

Meanwhile, Church and Change continues to run the synod. Fox Valley may be the sewer of WELS, but the sewer is the font of every blessing. Church and Change founder Steve Witte (Gordon Conwell drive-by D.Min.) is now the president of the portable Asian seminary while Changer John Lawrenz advises him.

PS - Good news, Tim. You now have about 2,000 page reads today, about 100 times your normal rate. I know you love Twitter, so I tweeted the page, too.

This reads like your swan song, Tim. Most pastors cannot follow someone who was there forever (Ron Ash) and is still hanging around.

Luther on False Teachers -
Portrait of WELS, ELS, LCMS

False Teachers Use Work of Others

J-635.1

"Note the master hand wherewith Paul portrays the character of false teachers, showing how they betray their avarice and ambition. First, they permit true teachers to lay the foundation and perform the labor; then they come and desire to do the work over, to reap the honors and the benefits. They bring about that the name and the work of the true teachers receive no regard and credit; what they themselves have brought—that is the thing. They make the poor simple-minded people to stare open-mouthed while they win them with flowery words and seduce them with fair speeches, as mentioned in Romans 16:18. These are the idle drones that consume the honey they will not and cannot make." Sermons of Martin Luther, 8 vols., ed., John Nicholas Lenker, Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1983, VII, p. 110. Second Sunday in Lent. 2 Corinthians 11:19-33; 12:1-9; Romans 16:18.

False Doctrine Tolerated

J-636.1

"And such false teachers have the good fortune that all their folly is tolerated, even though the people realize how these act the fool, and rather rudely at that. They have success with it all, and people bear with them. But no patience is to be exercised toward true teachers! Their words and their works are watched with the intent of entrapping them, as complained of in Psalm 17:9 and elsewhere. When only apparently a mote is found, it is exaggerated to a very great beam. No toleration is granted. There is only judgment, condemnation and scorn. Hence the office of preaching is a grievous one. He who has not for his sole motive the benefit of his neighbor and the glory of God cannot continue therein. The true teacher must labor, and permit others to have the honor and profit of his efforts, while he receives injury and derision for his reward."
Sermons of Martin Luther, 8 vols., ed., John Nicholas Lenker, Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1983, VII, p. 110f. Second Sunday in Lent. 2 Corinthians 11:19-33; 12:1-9. Psalm 17:9.

God Punishes Ingratitude by Allowing False Teachers

J-637.1

"In the second place such teachers are disposed to bring the people into downright bondage and to bind their conscience by forcing laws upon them and teaching works-righteousness. The effect is that fear impels them to do what has been pounded into them, as if they were bondslaves, while their teachers command fear and attention. But the true teachers, they who give us freedom of conscience and create us lords, we soon forget, even despise. The dominion of false teachers is willingly tolerated and patiently endured; indeed, it is given high repute. All those conditions are punishments sent by God upon them who do not receive the Gospel with love and gratitude."Sermons of Martin Luther, 8 vols., ed., John Nicholas Lenker, Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1983, VII, p. 111. Second Sunday in Lent. 2 Corinthians 11:19-33; 12:1-9. John 5:43.

False Teachers Flay Disciples to Bone

J-638.1

"In the third place, false teachers flay their disciples to the bone, and cut them out of house and home, but even this is taken and endured. Such, I opine, has been our experience under the Papacy. But true preachers are even denied their bread. Yet this all perfectly squares with justice! For, since men fail to give unto those from whom they receive the Word of God, and permit the latter to serve them at their own expense, it is but fair they should give the more unto preachers of lies, whose instruction redounds to their injury. What is withheld from Christ must be given in tenfold proportion to the devil. They who refuse to give the servant of truth a single thread, must be oppressed by liars." Sermons of Martin Luther, 8 vols., ed., John Nicholas Lenker, Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1983, VII, p. 111f. Second Sunday in Lent. 2 Corinthians 11:19-33; 12:1-9.

Avarice in False Teachers

J-639.1

"Fourth, false apostles forcibly take more than is given them. They seize whatever and whenever they can, thus enhancing their insatiable avarice. This, too, is excused in them." Sermons of Martin Luther, 8 vols., ed., John Nicholas Lenker, Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1983, VII, p. 112. Second Sunday in Lent. 2 Corinthians 11:19-33; 12:1-9.

They Lord It Over Us

J-640.1

"Fifth, these deceitful teachers, not satisfied with having acquired our property, must exalt themselves above us and lord it over us...We bow our knees before them, worship them and kiss their feet. And we suffer it all, yes, with fearful reverence regard it as just and right. And it is just and right, for why did we not honor the Gospel by accepting and preserving it?"
Sermons of Martin Luther, 8 vols., ed., John Nicholas Lenker, Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1983, VII, p. 112. Second Sunday in Lent. 2 Corinthians 11:19-33; 12:1-9.

We Are Dogs and Foot-Rags

J-641.1

"Sixth, our false apostles justly reward us by smiting us in the face. That is, they consider us inferior to dogs; they abuse us, and treat us as foot-rags." Sermons of Martin Luther, 8 vols., ed., John Nicholas Lenker, Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1983, VII, p. 112. Second Sunday in Lent. 2 Corinthians 11:19-33; 12:1-9.

False Teachers Are Peacocks

J-642.1

"The peacock is an image of heretics and fanatical spirits. For on the order of the peacock they, too, show themselves and strut about in their gifts, which never are outstanding. But if they could see their feet, that is the foundation of their doctrine, they would be stricken with terror, lower their crests, and humble themselves. To be sure, they, too, suffer from jealousy, because they cannot bear honest and true teachers. They want to be the whole show and want to put up with no one next to them. And they are immeasurably envious, as peacocks are. Finally, they have a raucous and unpleasant voice, that is, their doctrine is bitter and sad for afflicted and godly minds; for it casts consciences down more than it lifts them up and strengthens them." What Luther Says, An Anthology, 3 vols., ed., Ewald Plass, St. Louis: Concordia Publishing House, 1959, II, p. 642.

Pietism Loves Cell Groups and Unionism

Got cell?

I see that OuterEdge itself is a gathering of cell groups, apart from Christ the Rock.

Check out the religious small groups people can join after joining OuterEdge. Apparently some are face-to-face. Others may be online. I was not moved to register or join. OuterEdge is the company owning the former WELS church building where various denominations put on shows for free and also for specific prices. I am not sure where the ownership of OuterEdge overlaps with the pan-denominational activities.

Christ the Rock is using the OuterEdge. They also have cell groups to join.

The SORE uses cell groups because CG/Emergent Church considers them sacramental. When a Lutheran congregation gets involved in cell groups, the sacraments are reduced to ordinances and the church eventually becomes what it wanted to be - Mission Covenant or something similar. CrossRoads in South Lyons, Michigan (WELS) began and ended that way.

The BORE - Kicked Out of the Popcorn Cathedral of Rock By Another Emergent Church - CCV!
Ski/Glende Lies Exposed

Another emergent New Age church has grabbed the Big Picture movie theater from The BORE. The newspaper did not name the church, which seems to be buying the building. Anti-confessional entertainment churches are better at being anti-confessional entertainment centers.

God's justice is only beginning to show His wrath. The BORE decided to compete with 20 other WELS congregations in a rather small city, skimming members in the name of outreach and transforming lives. ELCA has the same non-confessional motto.

Therefore God is smiting WELS with an emergent church pushing The BORE out.

I would rather call the travesty Entertainment Evangelism. There is no evangelism involved, but Ski and Glende are quite entertaining.

Fame is fleeting, as the slave used to whisper to the Roman general during his triumph. Or, as we say today - it is a short trip from The Crab House to the outhouse.

Every story reveals a new lie about The BORE, which was supposedly started as a separate congregation from St. Peter's, Freedom. Wink. Wink.

The local paper says otherwise:

"The Core, a (sic) outreach ministry of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Freedom, has leased the building for the last 18 months and its final service there is Oct. 31."

St. Peter's and The BORE, both known for their deceitfulness, are verbally uniting the "two congregations," as one of its members stated in his blog.

Glende refused to answer questions by email. Perhaps he imagined the answer might be forwarded to others. Or maybe he was just hiding the truth.

Glende claims on his anonymous blog, derisively called Fake-O-Bod, that he is against deception and unionism.

The BORE arranged for new digs. I believe it might have been available when they took over their magnificent and expensive Popcorn Cathedral of Rock. The new location looks desolate and beaten up. A church was there before and failed? And then another operation failed? The BORE is failing. Everyone knows it.

"Meanwhile, The Core’s Sunday night worship service is moving to OuterEdge, a former church building at 303 N. Oneida St. that has been extensively restored and is now a multi-use facility/concert venue with a stage. The Core’s first service there is Nov. 7."

OuterEdge is emergent church, as far as I can tell. They have stage events scheduled, so will The BORE and OuterEdge merge? Both confess the truths of Craig Groeschel, I imagine.

I do not have this figured out. Appleton does seem as topheavy with emergents as it is with WELS.

Meanwhile, Deputy Doug Englebrecht is meeting with the Conference of Pussycats to see how they can silence the hapless, gutless Intrepid Lutherans - who are too busy to post comments. They have stuff to do.

Welcome to The BORE's new old building.

The building the CORE is moving into was the home of Mount Olive Lutheran Church (WELS) from the early 1920s until around 1980. This building is also one block from St. Pauls Lutheran (WELS). Also, the church that bought the movie theater and CORE's old home is Christ's Church of the Valley-- ccvappleton.com

Loving God passionately
Loving each other deeply
Loving our world to Jesus

At CCV we reject the doctrine of baptismal regeneration (that baptism in and of itself causes salvation).  We also don’t believe baptism is some afterthought of our salvation.  Rather, we affirm that baptism is the divinely ordained vehicle for us to express our personal faith and entrust our lives to Christ.  This is why scripture can affirm salvation by grace through faith apart from works and yet portray water baptism as the standard Biblical occasion when the repentant believer would receive from God the forgiveness of sins and enter into a new relationship with Christ on the basis of faith.

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT COMMUNION

Communion (the Lord’s Supper) is one of the ways we worship God as we remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the grave.  CCV follows the example of Acts 20:7 and weekly engages in Communion.  We believe the bread and the juice are symbols of Jesus’ body and blood and that as a believer partakes, they proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes.  At CCV we do not subscribe to the idea that during Communion Jesus is re-sacrificed - but we do believe that through this sacrament, God meets with us in a unique and special way.

We ask that all who would partake of Communion with us at CCV be people who have surrendered their lives to Christ in faith and that they examine their hearts prior to partaking.

Welcome!

Welcome to Christ's Church of the Valley, an exciting non-denominational Bible believing church here in the Fox Cities!  I am so glad you have stopped by to check out our ministry!  My prayer is that you will be led more and more to encounter God in all of his power and greatness!

Thoughts On Another Emergent Church Kicking The SORE Out of their Rented Movie Theater

Another emergent church has captured the lease for the movie theater where The SORE has been festering.

Ski and Glende will get to watch a new operation take the same New Age ideas and do "much better" with them - i.e., send more souls to Hell.

That reminds me of this passage:

KJV Matthew 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

"Do Not Listen To Twissted Sisster" - Say Tweedledee, Tweedledumb, and Tweedledumber

twissted_sisster has left a new comment on your post "Doctrine Is Our Only Light":

The amount of research and information you include in some of your posts is astounding, Pr. Jackson! I've kind of hunted and picked my way thru this one this morning due to time constraints. It's a 'must read' so I'll be back to devour more of it later. Thank you for serving up this 'hearty breakfast' this morning!

SORE Distress - Copycat Cult Booted from Their Movie Theater

The SORE came from promiscuous, unprotected sects.

According to a member of St. Peter's in Freedom, The SORE has lost its lease to the movie theater and must move out.

The hilarity is only beginning. Another church outbid them for the lease. Apparently, the only thing accomplished by The SORE was stirring up the envy of another Emergent Church. The new church coveted that building, that popcorn machine, and...sob...those 20 sub-woofers. Let me take a moment to compose myself. There. I'm better now.

The member, who is an attorney, has a discordant note in his information. The SORE was supposed to remain separate from St. Peter's in Freedom. I find that claim rather odd. It had to be a lie from the start. Ski was listed on the staff of St. Peter in the WELS annual. That meant one congregation, several pastors.

Glende took three days to answer an email! He must have been organizing his Facebook albums. He has not been reworking his anonymous blog. Apart from creating a smokescreen for his pal Aaron Frey, he has not contributed to the blogosphere.

Once again, the Glende/Ski method is at work. They did a series of sermons together where they copied more cool stuff from the Net.

Glende and Ski want to make their morganatic marriage official now - merging the two operations into one, but keeping two locations. They have been more than a little obvious since the beginning.

The SORE is little more than a youth meeting of the local WELS congregations. They added one more WELS church to a small town that already had 20 WELS congregations - and they called it outreach!

Pastors like Jay Webber would like to distance themselves from debacles like this, but Glende and Webber have a Shrinker guru in common - Floyd Luther Stolzenburg. Webber was happy to have Kovaciny as the bagman collecting money for the Ukraine at Floyd's Masonic church. Notice how Floyd's teaching style is reflected in the teaching style of Tim Glende, claiming to learn something when it is really an alien thought being imposed on the unsuspecting sheep:

Floyd Luther Stolzenburg, teaching at St. Paul German village, where Glende grew up:
"We have discovered that the Early Church was an institution that unknowingly saw its world through Church Growth eyes. We have some benefits they did not have in that we can look back today and analyze their successes and failures."
Floyd Luther Stolzenburg,
"Church Growth - the Acts of the Apostles,"
GJ - Notice the direct assault against the efficacy of the Word? A Lutheran church would have tarred and feathered Floyd for that statement.

Tim Glende:
"We learned that the church is about more than just the building.  Christians belong to Christ and to each other.  The SORE’s building has never officially “belonged” to them.  It was during this series, that Pastor Ski announced another church has put in an offer on the Big Picture [the movie theater where The SORE currently meets] … and that offer has been accepted…  In the next few weeks Pastor Ski will be announcing where The SORE’s new home will be.  Please understand that this does not mean that the ministry is ending, it only means that the building and location from which the ministry operates from will be changing."

The SORE is not the only movie theater, multi-church copycat of Emergent Church/New Age thinking. Randy Hunter has his Latte Church with couches, a female pastor, and a vicar. The First VP of WELS has a Soul Cafe and a long-standing love affair with Fuller Seminary. Ex-SP Gurgle is starting a multi-church and school site next to their own Rock N Roll mission. Chicago has a stealth mission full of felt-needs activities. FICKLE hails all these efforts and promotes the reputations of false teachers like Bivens, Aderman, Kelm, and Patterson. Those men would not be false teachers if they joined their real home for doctrine, The Mission Covenant Church. But in terms of Lutheran doctrine, they are not even up to the level of mild Lutheran.

Between This Video and the MLC Gay Video - Why Join WELS?

This video was also featured at Ski's sexucation class at Fox Valley High School - WELS.

Everyone invited. Aimed at minors.

Stupidity like this got Aaron Frey canned at Michigan Lutheran Seminary.

No wonder Glende blogged in support of Frey. Birds of a feather Tweet together.

Thrivent supported.

Groeschel produced it.

I am sure SP Schroeder will send a fierce email, carefully nuanced.

Groeschel Alive and Well at The SORE, Thanks To Englebrecht's Anything Goes District

Beavis: "So Doug says no more Groeschel outlines. Heh heh heh." Butthead: "But nothing about Groeschel videos." Slaver. Slaver.

A reader writes,

Deputy Pope Engelbrecht forced Ski to stop using Groeschel?   Were his fingers crossed?

At the Fox Valley Lutheran  Sexed event last night, the tweens were shown Groeschel skit videos.  Two are linked.

Is Satan really just a casual, humorous fellow?  Does the Devil wear sequins, or the flayed skins of Faithless sinners?

Guess which insurance company down the road from FVL bought the  cookies for the festivities?

Extra credit for guessing which downtown church FVL promoted in the fill in the blank lecture handout.

Short Answer - Avoid Unprotected Sects

Watch your attendance go down, in spite of rock music, free sodas and popcorn during church, stolen sermons, and mug files of floozies.

I am despondent - First of all, my daughter's WELS church out east has been letting folks commune who are not even members.  Second, my cousin's WELS church in Wisconsin is letting women vote.

***

GJ - All this was true in Columbus in the 1980s. They crowed about it, loved it, promoted it. Look at The SORE, the cutting edge of WELS. That is the future: munching popcorn during the prayers, oogling celebrisluts in the pastor's Facebook albums, inviting atheist rock bands for the mission's start-up.
Not to worry - everyone is "working on it."

Write a letter so you can learn about WELS hating on you. They are good at it.
