LutherQuest - An Ever-Flowing Fountain of Fun

 

 The Loehe congregations invited the Perryville sex cult to associate with them, so the Loehe group founded what became the Missouri Synod. CFW's behavior in doctrine, pastoral care, kidnapping, and grand theft should be studiously avoided - not imitated. But Cascione calls himself Cardinal.

"In short, we must preserve the Missouri Synod as it was founded by Dr. Walther. To help accomplish this our discussion group intends to generate an active."

GJ - Walther's syphilitic bishop, Martin Stephan, founded the Perryville cult, and it was Walther who signed the enthronement paper yet organized the riot to kick out the bishop. This history is well known and hidden in the bowels of the Concordia Historical Institute.

 Robert Preus quoted this claptrap from distant relative Edward Preuss. Cascione cited it to prove his deep understanding of Justification without Faith, World Absolution without the Means of Grace.

"Our goal is to halt the growing influence of the Church Growth Movement, contemporary worship, Leadership Training, Romanistic 19th-Century European Lutheran hierarchy, the Council of District Presidents, and Faith Inkubators. We want to return to the congregational polity as published in Walther's Church and Ministry.

 I am so impressed with the loyalty of so many Dead Last Lutherans, who imitate their idol CFW Walther in covering up for gross clergy sexual abuse of members, collecting their rewards for that malfeasance, moving along praising themselves, world without end. Some of them are Roman Catholic; some of them are not. Not one is a Lutheran, according to Loehe's standards.

The Watherians and their thralls would have us believe that CFW is the standard of Lutheran orthodoxy, but they clearly oppose and repudiate the Biblical doctrine of Justification by Faith, replacing it with the faddish Objective Justification of rationalistic Pietism.  These pompous blowhards hate each other and get along like Calvinist factions (which they are), not only ignorant of the true Gospel but archenemies of it.

Divide and Conquer - CFW Walther Was - And Is - The Great Divider

CFW Walther remains the key figure and theologian of the LCMS, which is tragic for all Lutherans.

Walther divided Lutherans in three different ways. This is something for your  own studies, because each category is good for searching a library.

 But you can make it interesting.

First Division - Insisting on Halle Easter Absolution

When half-educated synod drones like Jay Webber promote the idea of Easter Absolution (UOJ) as Luther's position, they are echoing Walther's false doctrine learned from his syphilitic, adulterous bishop, Martin Stephan.

It took a long time, but Walther's position is now dominant in the leadership of the LCMS-WELS-ELS-CLC (sic). Apart from mutual loathing, it is the only thing they have in common. And they rejoice in their Walther-Stephan UOJ, like members of a Mafia crew.


Second Division - Election Without Faith

Walther divided the Synodical Conference from the start, by insisting on his peculiar dogma of election without faith, which was really a stealth version of his Easter Absolution UOJ from Halle. He was very good at crop-dusting anyone who taught Justification by Faith, and he made faith almost into a sin - or a big nothing. Once the better theologians went elsewhere, Walther was free to glory in his power and the unified stance of his sect.


Third Division - The Keys, Church and Ministry, Loehe

Loehe gave Walther the Ft. Wayne campus - free of charge - and agreed to keep supporting it financially. But Walther returned evil for good. He picked a fight with Loehe over Who's Got the Keys and related matters. Even today someone can be pilloried for being a "Loehist," even though Walther pretended to reconcile with the much more able pastor.

Once Walther alienated everyone who did not fall prostrate before him, he was free to assert his power everywhere and control everything, from calls to publications to professorships. Divide and Conquer works, and all the Lutheran sects practice it with the fervor of their Father Below.

Loehe - The True Founder of the LCMS. His People Invited the Perryville Sex Cult to Discuss Working Together

The LCMS has a faction that really hates Loehe,
but he did not lead or serve as enforcer for a sex cult.
Walther made a point of breaking with him.

“ Your Word is the right doctrine, ” the holy singer prays (Psalm 93:5 Luther). And what pastor should not rejoice, having this right teaching, and finding in it a powerful means for his office? Being happy because of this possession, we still want to go a little farther, looking at what the holy singer says here. “God’s Word is the right doctrine.” This verse from the psalm, on the one hand puts God’s Word on the same level with other teachings; but it also lifts it above all others by saying: “It is the right teaching.” Other teachings are not equal to it, not according to content (nobody denies this!), yet neither according to power , with which it turns the hearts of men. True, the Word of the Lord also appeals to the natural powers of man, to his natural ability of knowing. It also takes for granted the powers of the natural will, which tries to accomplish what reason has recognized as being right. That means it enters a person in the same way as any other human thought. And through the power of its arguments it works a human conviction in the human heart, just like any human thought. Nevertheless it is no mere human thought and it works in more than a human way. Nor is it a mere human conviction, but it brings with it a power that can put down the resistance of natural reason, or un-reason, and it can bestow on the Word an emphasis that enables it to grant a conviction capable of overcoming any resistance or doubt. It is called faith.

Just think of the power of Absolution. This is what the Church means when it says that the Spirit is given through the Word and the Gospel, that the Word is the organ and carrier of the Holy Spirit. Holy Scripture means the same thing when it speaks of an enlightening of the Holy Spirit through the Word, of tasting the Word of God and its powers, Hebrews 6:4ff.; [also] when it says about the Word that it is sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow, and that it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart, and before it no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare before its eyes, Hebrews 4:12f. From this we learn that the Word of God and its effects are more than natural. They are supernatural and incomprehensible . We see that the Word is both human and divine: Human, because it speaks in human language to human understanding; divine, for it works with divine power a heavenly knowledge for eternal life."

Reading Some Quotations by the Notorious, Evil Wilhelm Loehe

I inherited the Wilhelm Loehe book from a member. Here are the basics -

I have to caution all readers. Loehe is evil, because Christian News says so. And Pastor Otten is against Loehe and his followers because CFW Walther - aka The Great Walther - was Loehe's opponent (except when asking for property and money).

The bill of indictment is included in the top graphic, and it is grim indeed. Loehe never kidnapped anyone, while Walther kidnapped three - two minors and his own bishop. Walther founded only one seminary, Concordia in St. Louis, but Loehe founded two - Concordia, Ft. Wayne and Wartburg in Dubuque, Iowa. Worse - Loehe donated Ft. Wayne to the Missouri Synod and kept up his financial support, as Walther asked.

Loehe was lax in discipline, because he did not organize any mobs, threaten, rob, or kidnap a bishop. Walther did that in fine style and emerged in the carefully manipulated history of the LCMS as a great hero. Anyone today who gives a pile of gold, even stolen, is awarded a doctorate in Missouri, following the example of Dr. CFW Walther.

Loehe remained a parish pastor while doing all his work and organizing five (5) world mission societies. Walther did what was best and had himself promoted to the presidency of the LCMS and its seminary at the same time, leaving parish work behind for the greater glory of Missouri.

My counter-polemic against Loehe is a little satire, funny because true, about the way Missouri treats its hagiography. Walther must come out on top because they are all Waltherians - at least they think they are.

In fact, Loehe organized the first parishes and they asked the Perryville cult about joining them. Loehe trained good leaders who contributed greatly to the early synod. The main historian for this information is Ludwig Fuerbringer, writing about Frankenmuth and Ft. Wayne. I highly recommend his two little books - Eighty Eventful Years and Persons and Events. Fuerbringer was the nephew of The Great Walther and consequently kept his silence about the early history, as Uncle CFW wished.

The Word Remains is a great book to own, because it offers selections from Loehe's writing and a brief biography. Loehe was clearly a parish theologian, very much like Luther in his concise statements about the faith and basic Christian doctrine.

Ironic indeed is this fact - Loehe contributed much that is positive to the LCMS today. And yet, Loehe triggers anxiety and fear in the Missouri snowflakes who must denounce their actual Founder in order to prove loyalty to Walther, a loyal disciple and enforcer for the abusive bishop - until the time was right for a takeover.

This fine and concise statement is a reflection
on the Chief Article - Justification by Faith -
but the Olde Synodical Conference today is united
by ELCA's Pietistic UOJ.

 Highly honored and dearly beloved brother in the Lord:

 Pastor D. Sihler has requested at this year's first synodical
 conference to call Pastor Oster as director and teacher at the
 Seminary in Fort Wayne. He based this request on his declining health
 and the fact that his own ever-growing congregation is making it
 impossible for him to expand the time and energy necessary for the
 seminary. We have come to the unanimous conclusion that we do not
 have the right to issue a call on behalf of the seminary, because it is a
 private institution, founded by the love of the German brothers.
 
 Consequently it was decided to ask you, beloved brother, and
 through you also the other participants of this work of love, whether
 you are willing to surrender the seminary to the Synod, formally and
 actually giving it under the Synod's free disposition, while
 nevertheless continuing with support in the forms of money, books,
 etc. in the usual loving manner, because the Synod--especially at this
 time of its organization--does not have the resources for the
 seminary's upkeep.
  
 In addition, it was agreed to ask you in a brotherly manner to
 forward to us the writings of Pastor Ostor (sic) thus enabling us to
 form our own opinion concerning his attitude, knowledge, spiritual
 gifts and qualifications for the proposed position.
 
 With the heartfelt request to include us and our work in your
 brotherly supplications, we command you to the Lord's mercy.

 Chicago, May 6 in the year of our Lord 1847.

 Neuendettelslau, Sept. 8, 1847
 
 I have duly received your valued letter dated Chicago, May 6 of
 this year, and I forthwith shared its contents with Pastor Wucherer in
 Noerdlingen, the only person with whom I needed to discuss this
 matter. I needed to discourse with him only because in Bavaria we do
 not have a North-American society, rather the entire aid project, as
 far as we have handled it, is a private undertaking aided by the
 completely voluntary assistance and advise of other brothers.
 
 After having assured myself of my dear friend's opinion of the
 matter at hand, I am herewith releasing the seminary, in my name and
 in his name--as far as it could be considered thus far to be our
 establishment, in its present state--to the Synod, whose president you
 are. It shall be the sole property of the Evangelical-Lutheran Synod of
 Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, and be entirely under its care and
 administration.
 
 Release of the seminary, however, is under the following
 conditions which we hope you yourself are in agreement with:
 
 1. We release all our claims of ownership to the seminary in Fort
 Wayne with the condition that it shall, for ever, serve only the
 Lutheran church and train her preachers and shepherds. As Lutheran
 churches we recognize only those who confess the Lutheran Book of
 Concord.

 2. We are releasing all our claims to the seminary under the
 further condition--which shall be inviolate--that the German language
 shall be the only vehicle of instruction.

 3. We are releasing our claims under the condition that the
 seminary remain what it is now, that is, an institution whose purpose
 it is to train--thoroughly and when possible without delay--preachers
 and ministers for the countless lost, German brothers-in-faith, as
 well as for newly arrived congregations of our faith. In the beginning
 we did not consider a theological institution in the usual, German
 tradition, but rather as a "nursery" of preachers and ministers whose
 studies are to be preparation for the holy office itself.

 Presuming that these conditions meet with your approval, we
 gladly promise to continue support of the seminary, that is, to the best
 of our abilities and as God provides us. As the situation presents itself
 now, there cannot be any specific promises.
 
 You are already familiar with one of our ideas, and Dr. Sihler,
 director of the seminary, has also espoused it as his own. It is this: 

 the seminary is to be also a place for the training of
 missionaries among the heathen natives of North-America. We
 must tell you that it would cause us extreme pain if you were to
 let go of an idea which--especially in Bavaria--has gained many
 mission-minded friends and their support. However, we have no
 doubt that you will continue faithfully in this matter also.

 We also must inform you that Pastor Oster from Posen has
 emigrated with some of his parishioners to Australia. Therefore,
 examination of his faith and life on your part, as well as a call, are too
 late.
 
 In closing we want to share with you what is making our hearts
 heavy, especially since it is of the utmost important to the seminary
 in Fort Wayne. With much regret we have noticed that your first
 synodical constitution, as is set now, did not completely follow the
 example of the first congregations. We fear, and most likely rightly so,
 that the basic, strong mixing of democratic, independent,
 congregational principles into your church constitution will cause
 more harm than the meddling of the princes and authorities did in our
 church at home. Careful study of the apostles' many lessons concerning
 organizing the church and ministry, would have better and differently
 taught the dear brothers from among the laity. Constitution is a
 dogmatic, but not a practical adiaphoron. May that which the NT
 teaches of constitution, organization and ministry at large, be the
 right locus of the new seminary, and may the results of new research
 done by Lutheran theologians in the home country not be considered
 inferior and be ignored by the professors and teachers at Fort Wayne.
 If a large, interconnected church is to be assembled which is to be a
 haven for harried souls, care must be taken that she be endowed in
 holy form and shape by which she can be recognized and grasped.

Pastor Wilhelm Loehe is one of my spiritual forebears. I thank the good and gracious Lord for the heritage he left upon America with his Frankenmuth, Michigan venture. He was of confessional and missionary stock, something that C.F. Walther was sorely lacking.
