Calvin's Style Is Barth/Kirschbaum's Style. We Find the Same Protestant Papal Style in the UOJ Stormtroopers

 John Calvin shared Zwingli's Enthusiasm
but expressed it with more elegance.

“We call predestination God’s eternal decree, by which he compacted with himself what he willed to become of each man. For all are not created in equal condition; rather, eternal life is fore-ordained for some, eternal damnation for others.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 5) Cited on this Calvinist blog.

The above statement is the famous double predestination decree found in all editions of Calvin's Institutes of Christian Religion. The style - a thesis statement - reminds me of JP Meyer, below.

The first time the Lutherans contended with Calvinistic justification pitted Polycarp Leyser and Hunnius against Samuel Huber, a former Calvinist who became Lutheran and taught at Wittenberg, until his dogma was revealed and his position vacated.

Webber argued the same position, parroting Jon Boy Buchholz.

 All the information is available on the Net. Why have Lutheran clergy passively accepted the demonic reign of UOJ?

I knew quite a few LCMS clergy and laity in Midland, Michigan, during the 1980s. One layman was being trained in the official LCMS program for lay ministry. And whom did he quote all the time? R. C. Sproul.

I think that many people who call themselves “Calvinists” haven’t studied much about Calvinism.  They probably heard a passionate sermon from Paul Washer (and YES, HE IS a Calvinist), read an article by Charles Spurgeon, read a book by John Piper, listened to a James White debate, watched an R.C. Sproul lecture or read a John MacArthur Commentary.  Then they put their theological “stake in the ground” and say, “I’m a Calvinist”. Source

While Calvin is heavy-duty, industrial strength Enthusiasm, separating the Holy Spirit from the Word, Fuller and Trinity Divinity are the insta-answers of Enthusiasm that follows, easy on the brain and conscience. Thus the Calvinism behind the LCMS (via Stephan's and Walther's rationalistic Pietism) has become a bug-eyed devotion to the idiocies of Church Growth, now branded as Missional since the earlier label has worn thin from caressing.

 This is too deep and too Biblical for today's crop of initiates in the LCMS-ELS-WELS. Besides, they may start thinking and studying on their own. Heaven forbid.

A Brief History and Summary of UOJ - From 2012

Visitors come to this blog and wonder what Universal Objective Justification is, so I will summarize the discussion briefly. 

Justification means being declared forgiven of all sins by God. The Holy Spirit works through the Gospel to create faith, and that faith receives all the blessings of the Gospel. This Gospel is the invisible Word of teaching and preaching, the visible Word of the Sacraments. That is why the Word and Sacraments are called Means of Grace, since they are God's instruments of grace to bring forgiveness to people.

The Bible, Luther, the Book of Concord, and Lutheran theologians all teach justification by faith. The Lutheran theologians include Melanchthon, Chemnitz, Chytraeus, Andreae, Gerhard, Calov, Quenstedt, and many others.

Pastor Paul Rydecki translated Hunnius, who eviscerated Samuel Huber.

UOJ first appeared shortly after the Book of Concord was published in 1580. Samuel Huber, a partial convert from Calvinism, got a teaching gig at Wittenberg and began railing against justification by faith. Alas, he was like a gunman robbing a gun store. The Lutheran orthodox opened up on him. Polycarp Leyser, the biographer of Chemnitz, an expert on justification, and Hunnius, another genius, shredded the weak arguments of Huber and removed him from his post.

Huber taught that everyone was already righteous, by virtue of Christ's resurrection.

Pietism and Halle University, the Mother Ship of Blended Doctrine
Pietism won the battle against Lutheran orthodoxy, and Halle University served as the main (but not the only) source of Pietistic ministers and missionaries.

UOJ emerged again with the peculiar argument of the Halle Pietist Rambach and others that the entire world was absolved of sin the moment Christ rose from the dead. Although Romans 4:25 is commonly used today for this bizarre notion, Rambach argued his case from 1 Timothy 3:16.

Rambach's world absolution is still argued by Jay Webber (ELS) and Jon-Boy Buchholz, the tantrum prone WELS District President.

Stephan-Walther UOJ Sex Cult Expelled from Europe
Bishop Martin Stephan, who infected his wife and children with syphilis, gathered the Walther circle of Pietists around him, demanding total obedience in all his edicts. Pietism was the alternative to state-sponsored rationalism, so the Walther group gravitated from one abusive Pietistic leader (Johann Gottlieb Kuehn) to another (Stephan) when Kuehn died. 

When Stephan's troubles from adultery and misuse of money grew, he planned a mass exodus to America, the first such emigration from Europe. He was under house arrest until his departure, when he took his main mistress along (Louise Guenther) and left his wife and children in Dresden to manage without him. Stephan only took his healthy son along, even though the society made arrangements for the entire Stephan family to move.

Walther and his brother kidnapped their niece and nephew from their father's parsonage, so Walther escaped arrest warrants (unlike his future mother-in-law) and left Europe in a hurry.

Walther learned his UOJ from Stephan, and Stephan studied at Halle University.

Walther's UOJ never varied from what he gained from Stephan, a fact that should make his diminishing fan club shudder.

Walther taught that God declared the entire world absolved of sin. People just needed to be told they were already forgiven and then believe in this world absolution. He later approved the double-justification language from the English translation of Knapp, the Halle Pietist.

Walther was unable to gain total dominance of the Halle position in the Synodical Conference.

Gausewitz was president of the Synodical Conference, and his catechism did not teach UOJ. 

Hoenecke graduated from Halle, but he definitely gave UOJ a light touch in his Dogmatics.

Concordia Publishing House still publishes a KJV catechism (2 million in print!) that omits UOJ entirely.

UOJ, Church Growth, and Gay Activism
The UOJ advocates (WELS COP, Valleskey, Bivens, Wayne Mueller, VP Huebner, SP Mark Schroeder) are also the Church Growth salesmen in their synods (denying it, of course).

Gay activism thrives in the Fuller Seminary alumni, whether they are nominal Lutherans like Mark Schroeder, or emergent church gurus like Andy Stanley  or Brian Mclaren.

I may not be the brightest bulb in the stadium, but I don't see how UOJers can read Pr. Rydecki's letter and continue to label JBFAers as Arminians, semi-Pelagians, synergists, or as people who put faith in one's faith (according to No Call Paul).

The SynCon has destroyed the Means of Grace and the Sacraments. I would label them as semi-Revivalists. Why? Because even if unbelievers are justified, then Baptism is just an "act of obedience;" the Lord's Supper is only a "memorial meal."

We are certainly capable of rejecting the Gospel, but the Holy Ghost gets all the credit when we believe. Is the unrepentant thief also in Paradise?

This is absolutely correct. In fact, Scripture and the Confessions ought to be the only necessary evidences against it. If these were the only sources consulted by Universalists in the Lutheran Synods, the case against JBFA could not even be opened. But they don't limit themselves to Scripture and the Confessions. Laying behind their interpretations is the claim that "the Church has always taught Universal Objective Justification," and that the Scriptures and the Confessions cannot be properly understood without also accepting that UOJ has been the "unanimous orthodox teaching of the church throughout its history." Pressed for evidence of these claims, UOJ fanatics have provided such responses as "of course, we don't see it taught directly, it was always assumed," or worse, have supplied quotations from the church fathers and others that are stripped of their context, often not even complete sentences, while declaring them to be characteristic of the entire teaching of the church on the matter. To their shame, it has too often been discovered that their use of such quotations is deliberately misleading (i.e., Ambrose), and the qualifications they supply for some of the theologians they quote are deliberately incomplete and/or misrepresentative (i.e, Rambach). This is evidence of fraud within the UOJ movement, and only leads to greater suspicion. Why are they doing this?

But now we know better. The Church clearly has NOT taught UOJ all along. As evidence, we now have in Hunnius and the Wittenberg faculty, a specific rejection of UOJ in direct terms. Hunnius and others like him are significant, not because they supplement or replace Scripture and the Confessions, but because they deprive Lutheran Universalists of all foundation for practicing their eisegesis, for reading their assumptions of "what the church has always taught" back into the Scriptures. Without these false assumptions guiding their interpretation, no one could ever conclude that Scripture and the Confessions taught Universal Justification.

It was being discussed privately between the District President, Pastor Rydecki, and other pastors. He was finally booted from the WELS for teaching that sinners are justified by faith alone. Does that not raise a red flag? Especially during the Reformation month?

He certainly didn't need to do anything in private, but he did, probably in the attempts to have the WELS see their error. He could have gone public right away, but didn't. Public error certainly needs public rebuke so others won't be led astray. All the WELS publications that proclaim their "universal justification" are public. Why on earth do we discuss public sin privately? Have you read Luther's explanation of the 8th Commandment?

"All this has been said regarding secret sins [Febreeze - Matt. 18:15]. But where the sin is quite public so that the judge and everybody know it, you can without any sin avoid him and let him go, because he has brought himself into disgrace, and you may also publicly testify concerning him. For when a matter is public in the light of day, there can be no slandering or false judging or testifying; as, when we now reprove the Pope with his doctrine, which is publicly set forth in books and proclaimed in all the world. For where the sin is public, the reproof also must be public, that every one may learn to guard against it."

It turned from a matter of discussion to him being labeled a heretic. Does anything in this letter stand out to you? The only thing you have concern with is Pres. Buchholz' integrity? How about Pastor Rydecki after falsely being charged with heresy? The WELS has shown itself to teach a different Gospel than what has been handed down to us.

I read [this] Pastor Rydecki's letter to DP Bucholz, and I cannot help but think that the Scriptural substance is above and beyond this DP.

I hope and pray that Pastor Rydecki will move on quickly and pay no mind to these ecclesiastical dead horses. After this excellent letter, I would think that there is no more reason to waste one's time beating the Bucholz synodical horse.

At some point, one has to conclude that it is humanly fruitless to prevent the blind from leading the blind.

The WELS has published that Pastor Rydecki was suspended and offered no explanation as to why. He certainly gets the opportunity to defend his good name.

As with Pastor Rydecki, I am truly bothered by DP Buchholz promising one thing and only a few days later taking action contrary to what he promised.

As Brett Meyer has said, this is really refreshing to finally hear someone (other than us undesirables who post on this blog) challenge the false teachers in the WELS.

The other is from WELS's Meditations, March-May 2014, for Monday, 17 March 2014.  The howler is in the second column which reads:  

"No matter what you did yesterday -- or failed to do -- and no matter what you will do tomorrow, God has forgiven you."

Now, try saying that and putting in a sin from the second table of the Law.  Were I to say, for example, that I committed adultery yesterday and I'm going to do it tomorrow, God has forgiven me.  Somehow, that doesn't make sense.  Nor would it were I to say "murder" or theft" or anything other sin, "big" or "little."  I'm not sure if this is an example of UOJ or just the inability to think or perhaps a combination of both -- a "bifecta"?  This is the pap that is peddled in Meditations -- and remember, this is the stuff that goes unfiltered into the homes of the unsuspecting.

Summary Statements about UOJ and Its Sordid History

1. "It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled." - Mark Twain
2. Universal Objective Justification was never taught by a respectable Lutheran, during the Reformation or after.
3. Samuel Huber, a "former" Calvinist, tried to impose his teaching of  righteousness without faith, but Leyser - an editor of the Book of Concord - and Hunnius utterly refuted him. Huber was deposed as a Lutheran teacher for advocating what dominates the SynCons today - and the "Steadfast" website.
4. Influenced by Calvinism and Unionism - Pietism at Halle University became the modern incubator of UOJ.
5. The single greatest source of UOJ was Pietism, through Halle University, which sent over so many leaders of American Lutheranism.
6. TLH hymn-writer Rambach (#298) advocated righteousness without faith. His interpretation of 1 Timothy 3:16 is used deliberately by UOJ to teach the Easter absolution of the world. He was a Halle Pietist.
7. Georg Christian Knapp's lectures were published in German and English, before Stephan landed his sex cult in New Orleans and Walther helped make him bishop-for-life. Knapp taught at Halle University, and Bishop Martin Stephan studied at Halle.
8. Knapp's lectures, still in print today, were influential in Europe and even more so in America, where all the mainline schools used his lectures in English.
9. The English translation made Leonard Woods, a Calvinist, famous. Woods coined - or at least franchised - the double-justification formula used so lovingly today.  Woods graduated from Andover Seminary and served as president of Bowdoin College.
10. Walther learned his UOJ from Martin Stephan, an event that "saved his life." Walther never departed from the Easter absolution of the entire world - without faith - of Halle and Stephan.
11. Stephan never graduated from a university and was not qualified to be a pastor.
12. Walther's training consisted of a rationalistic bachelor's degree and subordinating himself to two different abusive Pietistic sect leaders - Kuehn first, who died, and then Stephan.
13. Walther, his brother, Fuerbringer, the lawyers, and the leading clergy were all aware of Stephan's rampant adultery and unethical behavior. Would any of you Walther worshipers today be allowed to walk alone in the woods at 2 AM with a young woman? Would you take a mission call to another country, leave your dying wife and children, and take your mistresses along?
14. Walther and his snuck-in parrot, Pieper, gradually imposed UOJ on the LCMS. The Brief Statement of 1932 marked the beginning of the end. That opened the door to Unionism, the Biblical doubters, Pentecostalism, Church Growth, and Paul McCain. 
15. The Synodical Conference has been and continues to be double-focused. Many believe and teach Luther's justification by faith, without persecution. At the same time, certain assassins wig-out against the Biblical doctrine and make sure the person is ousted.
16. The LCMS still markets a justification by faith Small Catechism, the KJV catechism Over 2 million sold!
17. WELS used the Gausewitz (as others did) which also taught justification by faith. The cult replaced it with an "expanded and improved" one and then with the Kuske UOJ version. Papenfuss (best name in WELS) knew nothing about UOJ until he attended Mequon. That says a lot, don't it?
18. Robert Preus changed his position on UOJ, moving decidedly against it. Earlier he used quotations on both sides of the issue. His last book clearly repudiated UOJ. His sons remain clueless.

GJ - Boisclair tries to use the guilt by association (sui generis) fallacy to escape the Edward Preuss quotation lovingly cited by Robert Preus, then Jack Cascione and Paul McCain.

A claim is a logical fallacy when the argument is irrelevant. The UOJ Hive at LutherQuest (sic) tried that when they condemned me for getting a PhD at Notre Dame. That made me a Roman Catholic, they imagined. When I pointed out how many of their Concordia Ft. Wayne faculty had doctorates from Notre Dame, the clamoring ceased. Likewise, the rabble thought I joined too many synod. But I listed the carefully hidden history of St. Al Barry's synod memberships (four) - and they were silent again.Bob Preus had three or four under his belt, and Rolf already has four, including the Rolf Synod that kicked him out.

The UOJ Enthusiasts buzz and swarm without edifying anyone or learning anything. This quotation is significant because it can only be cited with approval when someone fails to grasp Biblical, Lutheran doctrine based on the efficacy of the Word in the Means of Grace.

If a Calvinist translated Knapp's words into double-justification,
that makes OJ/SJ harmonious with...
A. Calvinism.
B. Pietism.
C. Lutheran doctrine?
D. A and B only.

Divorcing the Holy Spirit from the Word (Enthusiasm) is the basis for all false doctrine, including pagan religions.

Boisclair was careful not to denounce the quotation, only my use of it in the context of justification by faith. So far he seems to agree with it. To disagree would make Robert Preus, Paul McCain, and Jack Cascione fallible. Everyone knows that Holy Mother Missouri is infallible, so any suggestions to the contrary are blasphemous.

Boisclair has such a feeble grip on his own synod's history that he did not know that their founder, Martin Stephan, attended Halle University and taught his Pietistic justification (Easter absolution) to Walther. Stephan brought the Saxons to Missouri, a slave state, and controlled the clergy around him as the guru of their Pietistic cell. Other Lutherans despised the slave states and would not settle there, but the Moravian Pietists had no problem with slavery - and neither did Walther.

Treating young women as sexual slaves for Stephan was no problem for the clergy leaders around their bishop. Walther ignored it, even acted as the enforcer for Stephan, swearing his allegiance to Stephan as his bishop-for-life. Walther was cagey, biding his time until the outbreak of syphilis among the young women devotees created a crisis he could manage for his own benefit. Walther's first move upon "discovering" the adultery, was to steal 40 acres of land from Stephan. He did that on a trip from St. Louis to Perryville instead of confronting his bishop about the adultery. Walther organized the hand-picked mob to come down to Perryville to threaten, rob, and kidnap the bishop. This became the template for ELS, LCMS, and WELS polity - overlooking clergy adultery, breaking the law, kangaroo courts, and greed.

I can prove UOJ a dozen times over from Lutheran documents, if I confine myself to the era of Pietism. But -  as Hunnius observed - not one orthodox Lutheran taught any form of universal absolution during the Reformation or in the decades following the Book of Concord.

WELS is busy hunting heretics now - not focusing on the Church and Changers - but on justification by faith.

Does any Lutheran leader or political professor
take these words from the Book of Concord seriously?

PS - I am Robert Preus' biggest fan, because he continued to study and grow. He was prevented from leading Concordia Ft. Wayne, and he might have simply retired in peace. Instead, he saw the school descending into Romanism and wrote his Justification and Rome before he died.

Is the error going to be publicly retracted and repudiated? Until then, this faux-apology means nothing. After all, this is the second time this deception has been published in the Little Sect on the Prairie.

The fake, dishonest "Luther" statement below
teaches contrary to the Augsburg Confession.

GJ - Ecclesia Augustana first exposed this deception, which had already been aired in its earlier form on Intrepid Lutherans.  Here is the update from Intrepid Lutherans - on the Moldstad lies.

Don Moldstad's statement has been reported as an apology, but it was just the opposite of an apology. He did not retract his falsehood - he supported it as "confessional"  and as a "blessed truth." It was just a little thing about "detail." How much more arrogant can Pope-Brother be?

What exactly was his source? Is he so ignorant of Luther's Small Catechism that he calls this drivel Luther's? Notice the quotation marks, created to make us think this is some version of the Small Catechism we have never seen before.

I know Pope John the Malefactor did the same thing, turning a question about UOJ into someone asking, "How can critics of UOJ even call themselves Christian?" That was published in the unheralded and largely unread ELS magazine of record. 

I know Pope John pulled this deception off, because I corresponded with the letter-writer and his family, and we met them...at Kokomo. That is the place you want to go, if you want to find out about WELS/ELS duplicity.

Now let us ponder the faux-quotation from pseudo-Luther (aka the Moldstad brothers).

I believe in the forgiveness of sins because the Bible assures me that God the Father has by grace forgiven all sinners and declared them righteous. [Moldstad brothers]

What does this mean?

GJ - This is UOJ code talk. Faith is not mentioned because "forgiven all sinners" means forgiven without faith. Just to make sure no one misses the UOJ content, this phrase is added "and declared them righteous." The two errors are synonymous. God does indeed forgive sinners, since He has no reason to forgive non-sinners. However, ever since Walther, Preuss, and the SynCons, "forgiven all sinners" has been used to argue that the entire world is absolved without faith.

UOJ places  a great emphasis upon "without faith."

"Declared them righteous" is a second attempt to say the same thing, avoiding justification, perhaps because justification always means justification by faith in the Scriptures, in the Book of Concord, in Luther, Melanchthon, Chemnitz, Gerhard, Calov, Quensted, Andreae, and many more.

God can declare sinners righteous because, on the redemptive work of Christ, He has aquitted (sic) of the guilt and punishment of their sins, and has imputed to them the righteousness of Christ. He therefore regards them in Christ as though they had never sinned. [Moldstad brothers, with Jay Webber's in Christ added]

What does this mean?

GJ - This section features bad spelling and atrocious English. I wonder if they meant to use some different words or omitted a word or two.

This is also boasting that God has forgiven the entire world, without faith, without grace, without the Word, without the Means of Grace. Where is this fantasy recorded? Not in Luther and not in the Book of Concord. I can find it in the notorious false teacher named Samuel Huber. Two orthodox Lutheran theologians refuted Huber, who had been a Calvinist and accused justification by faith Lutherans as "Calvinists." Sound familiar?

Once again - nothing is said about faith. Imputation and faith are always used together in the New Testament. This imputation relates to Abraham who was justified by faith in Genesis 15, as argued again in Romans 4 and repeated in Galatians. Imputation is our fancy word for "count." We are counted as righteous when we believe in the atoning death of Christ.

KJV Romans 4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. 

5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

No one is "in Christ" without faith in the Savior, and that faith is created and sustained by the Holy Spirit at work in the Word.

I receive this justification when the Holy Ghost through the means of grace, leads me, the sinner, to believe that God has forgiven all my sins for Christ's sake. [Moldstad brothers, ELS]

What does this mean?

GJ - In other words, faith in the absolution of the world (without faith) is necessary for this absolution to be true. What a mish-mash of rationalism, Pietism, and mainline gibberish.

This is not faith in Christ but faith in UOJ, exactly as Walther learned it from his syphilitic bishop, Martin Stephan, who learned it from Georg Christian Knapp at Halle University, the center of Pietism in Europe.

The Pietist Rambach also taught this, as Samuel Huber--the repudiated heretic--did.

But today, people call themselves "confessional Lutherans" while repudiating the Lutheran Confessions, then bragging that their amalgam of Pietism and Rationalism is the true faith.
