I ran into some books about the Greek text of the New Testament, expecting a conservative, perhaps very conservative pair of authors to compare and contrast the KJV and other translations.

Instead I found a book as antagonistic to basic facts as scholarly works from the National Council of Marxist Churches - home of the RSV, NRSV, and ESV. The book's authors could not stop writing their slogan - KJV-Only - supposedly a sign of their sophistication and broad education.

Every since WWII was over, people have been printing Bibles faster than greenback$, with similar results, reducing the value therefor. People get wrapped up in comparisons, localities, editors, and styles of translating.

I am writing to inform you that the translations do not matter at all. The secret is the Greek text alone. A gaggle of text critics, with solid backing from the Vatican, adopted Codex Vatican and Codex Sinaiticus as the linch-pins of the "revised" King James Bible.

The KJV Revision apostates of England and America worked together with the secretly printed Westcott-Hort Greek New Testament. They radicals brought out the still-born English dud in 1881, and no one wanted it. Warehouses were full of the copies because it was so badly done and impossible to fix.

Almost 150 years later, the collaboration on the Greek text has established the "real" New Testament. That continues to draw mild rebukes, but nothing more. Denominations are content to sell all kinds of translations (even the KJV) while proclaiming freedom, creativity, and the ever "now."

The vast population of seminary graduates, mostly numbskulls, poorly educated and yet haughty about their vast studies. The mainline seminary graduates are probably 90% incapable of reading the Gospel of John in Greek and translating it. That is child's play compared to comparing texts, theories, and authorities.

Riddle me this - "What keeps clever scholars from forging documents the way the 19th century scribe did to create the codex called Sinaiticus, designated Aleph to make it sound so ancient?" 

Nor should we ignore the venality of Rome, with fraudulent discoveries to establish Rome-centric dogma and corruption.

The KJV Revision was intended to be a very modest edition, Greek and English, but the blasphemers kidnapped the project, a failure that emerged anew as the Greek text behind all future New Testaments.

4. Kurt and Barbara Aland
5. Bruce Metzger
6. Many more, nodding in agreement.

I was reading, for the second time, Who Faked the "World's Oldest Bible"? 

I checked on the Facebook news and saw ELCA in Chicago was doing what ELCA does best. The latest does not deserve being named, since is it all derived from 2009 and the cowardly years before that.

The tongue-clucking will not include these questions, "Why are the Missouri, Wisconsin, and Little Norwegian synods working with ELCA?" or "Why are the pastors sharing their address lists with Thrivent?"

Calvinist News, now fronted by Phil Hale, has the same ecumenical and Thrivent problems. I do not worry that he never mentions my books, because he never mentions:

1. Justification by Faith
2. The Chief Article
3. The Means of Grace
4. The Efficacy of the Word.

The book I just finished is fascinating, because the marks of deceit and fraud are all over Codex Sinaiticus (Aleph). What made Tischendorf a party in promoting a recent, custom-made Bible as the "world's oldest Bible"? That turned him into an international celebrity, the reputation he craved.

 

 The Hebrew letter Aleph stands for Sinaiticus, the "oldest Bible in the world," and yet the newest discovered.

GJ - I think this is a brilliant analogy, because Sinaiticus was found in the desert monastery, where Tischendorf was directed to find it. Vaticanus was held by the Vatican and has no clear origin. Constantin Tischendorf is the one who promoted both codices, which have no children. They are sterile and useful only for old men (Kurt Aland) who believe nothing and deny that the Four Gospels were written by the Apostles and their associates.

Byzantium is the name for the Eastern Roman Empire, which was Greek and Christian, lasting from Constantine the Great until 1453 AD when the last of the Eastern Roman Empire (the city of Constantinople) fell to the Ottoman Empire.

The Fall of Constantinople led to the escape of Greek scholars with their treasures, including many copies of the Bible. Sometimes this tradition is called the Byzantine Text (Stephanos text, Biblegateway.com) because of their protection of the Scriptures by Christian scholars. It is also called the Majority Text, because those manuscripts agree with one another to an astonishing extent, given the many centuries from the Apostolic Age to those examples. The text parents, grandparents, great-grandparents etc were worn out through copying but the text remained 90-95% the same.

Theodore Letis uses the term Ecclesiastical Text, because the believing Church continued reproducing from the original texts. A few called it the Textus Receptus, because Erasmus used a few manuscripts (received text), all he had at the moment, to create the first Greek New Testament in the modern age, which sparked the Reformation when Luther translated it into German.

The Fall of Constantinople was tragic, but it unleashed the Renaissance as scholars and artists headed for Europe. Their new hosts re-discovered the glory that was Greece -

As I suggested, the Traditional Text was preserved by believers in the Church. All the modern texts are sold to the public by various businesses, including the Beck Bible sold by Christian News, later having as many names as the RSV. But that is OK. All Bibles are inspired, as declared by Mirthless Mark Schroeder, the bookkeeper for the Wisconsin Sect.

 This is the codex that was discovered pure white and supple, pretty good for 1500 year old skin! Now it has a nice tan, both parts, so we can pretend it is ancient.
