Pastor Paul Rydecki and His Congregation Withdrew from ELDONA - Letter

Rydecki and Steve Spence, WELS circuit meeting

May 16, 2022

Dear Bishop Heiser and brothers in Christ in the ELDoNA:

Ten years ago, when I was suspended from the WELS, I was, for a brief time, an independent pastor, and you know the challenges that come with being alone in the ministry (not that we are ever truly alone), the main challenge being perhaps the tendency of each of us to stray from pure doctrine and salutary practice when there is no brother in the ministry to caution or encourage us. I prayed that the Lord would guide me to a group of pastors with whom doctrinal fellowship could be recognized, who would help one another remain faithful in doctrine, practice, and Christian living.

Walther signed the document making Martin Stephan their bishop. Heiser began with the intention of declaring himself bishop and acting as the Pope.

Nine years ago, Bishop Heiser and those of you who were in the diocese at that time, and one who has now fallen asleep, served as the Lord’s instruments of comfort to me and my congregation in Las Cruces after the turmoil we faced leaving the WELS. I will not say that you supported me. I will say that, together with me, you supported the good confession about Christ and His vital teaching of justification by faith alone, which required a repudiation of the false teaching of Objective Justification as it has been defined and taught by the synods. I will never be able to express the joy that filled my heart when I heard the Theses on Justification read for the first time. I was so thankful to God for giving me a group of Christian brothers who not only believed as I did, but who were willing to confess the doctrine of Christ openly and receive me into their fellowship, in spite of the reproach you suffered from the synods because of it. I still give thanks for it.

Pope Heiser in the Philippines

The idea of an ecclesiastical bishop, as I understood it and as I found it described in the ELDoNA Charter and related Theses, seemed like a fine way to ensure that all the member pastors taught and lived well, and would continue to teach and live well, in accordance with the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions. We cannot all be looking into one another’s practice and life on a regular basis, nor, I dare say, would any of us welcome such a constant intrusion coming from every pastor in our fellowship, so having one man appointed for this task seemed good to me. I happily applied for membership in the diocese and have enjoyed interacting and working with you all over these past nine years.

Over the past year, it has become increasingly clear to me that the office of bishop, as understood by the bishop and others in the ELDoNA, includes more than the Scriptures or Confessions include or than the founding documents of the diocese spell out. Having a “Church Order” handed to us and “authorized” by the bishop in 2021 took me off guard. Certain statements in the Church Order troubled me, such as, “No variation from the text of the creeds set forth in the Service Book…may be used in the Divine Service” (Missal, p.40), “It should also be noted that the selection of the Office Hymn is to be strictly adhered to as appointed for use in this diocese” (p.41), and “Under no circumstances may any unauthorized form of general prayer be substituted for those appointed for use in the diocese” (p.42). Exchanges with the bishop over the past year also pointed in this direction.

But this understanding was solidified in the Episcopal Address and ensuing discussion that took place at the 2022 Synod. I am very disappointed to discover that it is, in fact, the prevailing understanding and expectation within the diocese that the bishop’s responsibility of “oversight” and “administration” “encompasses all that has been associated with this [episcopal] polity in the historic sense,” as stated in the Bishop’s Episcopal Address, including “obliging the parsons and deacons of their superintendency to conform in all things according to our ‘Church Order.’”

This came as a surprise to me, because episcopal polity in the historic sense is not what we have ever known in the ELDoNA. The Evangelical Episcopacy, as, for example, in the superintendency of Martin Chemnitz (explained in his Church Order of 1569), was a human arrangement set up for that time and place in history in response to the recent finding that “a large portion of [the pastors and ministers of the church in that principality] were not real pastors, but rather unlearned and unfit mercenaries, acting as hired hands” (p.4). The Superintendency described by Chemnitz was made up of many specific superintendents, five general-superintendents, and a consistory made up of superintendents, theologians, and political appointees, all of whom were answerable to Duke Julius. (Indeed, it was the duke who authorized and mandated the use of Chemnitz’ Church Order within his territory, not the superintendent.) We have never had anything resembling this situation. For one thing, our ministers have not been found to be “unlearned and unfit mercenaries,” necessitating strict enforcement of a Church Order. As for the individual superintendents of the 16th century, they had far less authority than the ELDoNA bishop is claiming for himself, as important decisions were made within the consistory and not by any individual superintendent.

Furthermore, a bishop/superintendent in the historic sense had jurisdiction within the congregations themselves, including the examining and confirming of confirmands and the excommunication of parishioners who were not members of his own congregation. Indeed, the local pastor was allowed to excommunicate no one without the approval of the superintendent and the consistory. For that matter, the local pastor wasn’t even supposed to commune his own members unless he had followed the procedure prescribed by the Church Order of obligating the parishioner to submit to private examination every time he or she wished to receive the Lord’s Supper—something that clearly went beyond the Scriptures. In their attempt to keep “good order,” I believe that princes and bishops/superintendents in the historic sense often went too far.

Thankfully, however, unlike historic Lutheran bishops/superintendents, the ELDoNA bishop’s jurisdiction has always extended only to the pastors who are members of the diocese. It has never extended to the flocks over which the Holy Spirit has made us all overseers (or “bishops”).

Therefore, when seeking to understand what the ELDoNA bishop’s responsibilities were, I turned, not to history, but to the diocesan Charter and related Theses, where no mention is made of “obliging the parsons and deacons of their superintendency to conform in all things according to our ‘Church Order.’” The Charter of the Diocese clearly delineates how we pledge to work together within the diocese. It was to this that I agreed when I joined the diocese. I urge you all to reread what is actually written there, as opposed to what some claim to be the unwritten intention. “Therefore, we pledge ourselves to work together in the diocese as follows,” with nine points following, none of which includes agreeing that the bishop may determine all matters of adiaphora for us (in our worship or otherwise) or that we bind ourselves to follow his determinations in matters of adiaphora or church ceremonies within our own congregations.

The first of the nine points is an agreement to “uphold those principles which Dr. Chemnitz affirmed regarding the Superintendency.” “Those principles” do not include everything Chemnitz wrote in his Church Order. The statement is followed explicitly by the four principles from Chemnitz which we agree to uphold. None of these four principles grants the bishop the authority to decide on all matters of adiaphora (or any matters of adiaphora, for that matter) within our congregations. When Chemnitz states that “each one does not build up himself or act as lord in his congregation and do what he pleases…” this does not imply that the bishop may then act as lord in our congregations and do what he pleases. It implies that we will each be careful not to act in ways that cause offense within our own congregations or among our sister congregations, but will take one another into consideration in love and not enact practices that are likely to cause offense.

I agree with the Malone Theses when they state that “we seek to achieve a high degree of uniformity in the liturgical expression of our theological agreement.” I never understood this, however, to mean absolute uniformity or the imposition of a single service which must be strictly followed as published. I agree with the Malone Theses when they state that “we commit ourselves to endeavor over time, by common consensus, to minimize local deviations from common practice.” I never understood “common consensus,” however, to mean the necessary consensus with whatever the bishop determines to be best.

Another of Chemnitz’ stated principles in the Charter is that “when some complaint arises, the matter must be put before the conference and settled while the meeting is still in session.” This is what I attempted to do during the Tuesday morning meeting at the 2022 Synod. I was later reprimanded (not by the bishop, but by his deacon) for bringing up the matter during the meeting, as if that were not the proper time or place to bring up such a complaint. Again, I urge you all to read what is actually written in the Charter.

But if the Episcopal Address describes the actual polity of the ELDoNA going forward, then the Charter is flawed and should be corrected and expanded so that it says what it means. To expect pastors and congregations to understand from the Charter, as worded, that the ELDoNA bishop’s responsibilities “encompass all that has been associated with this [episcopal] polity in the historic sense” is both unreasonable and dangerous, because much has been associated with “episcopal polity in the historic sense” that is neither Scriptural nor beneficial to God’s Holy Church.

When the bishop seeks to “authorize” Bible translations, orders of service, specific prayers, hymns, lectionaries, dialects of English, etc., for use within our congregations, branding some as “licit” and others as “illicit,” he is implying that the authority for us to worship as we do in our congregations comes from him. I do not find this to be a Scriptural principle. My understanding is that Christ has called me to shepherd the flock which He entrusted to my care through their divine call, which entails working with them to establish and enact forms of worship which are in keeping with sound Christian (i.e., Lutheran) practice. While I have always welcomed the counsel and advice of the bishop in these matters (and have usually followed his advice out of love), I do not believe he has a divine call to dictate or to mandate worship forms for my congregation. I did not call him to do this by the act of joining the diocese. My congregation also does not acknowledge having called him to do this. Nor was there a magistrate who appointed him to oversee my congregation. I asked him to be my overseer when I joined the diocese, to look over my life and my ministry and to correct me on the basis of Scripture if I strayed from what God would have me do as a pastor. That is all.

To state the matter simply, I wish to pursue unity in the Holy Scriptures, as we have understood them in the Lutheran Church, and to be ruled and restrained by the Scriptures alone, in conformity with the Lutheran Confessions and in love toward my neighbor. And I am willing and eager for a brother in Christ to apply those Scriptures to me if I err, whether he holds the title of bishop, or pastor, or simply Christian. This is the kind of unity I seek and the kind of unity I thought we already had in the diocese for the past nine years.

Others, however, seem to wish to pursue unity in the doctrines and traditions of men, seeking unity in the utter sameness of a single manmade Church Order imposed across an entire continent, which goes far beyond the Scriptural requirement of things being done “decently and in good order.” They seek unity in being ruled and restrained by one who is not only a bishop who holds the power of the Keys, as all ministers do according to the Gospel, but who also holds power delegated to him by human right. Indeed, they are willing to be disciplined by the bishop for things that are neither contrary to Scripture nor causes of offense to members of Christ’s flock. I cannot abide by such an arrangement. It is like building on the foundation of Christ with wood, hay, and straw.

As far as I can tell, this is a fundamental difference of understanding among us that prohibits me from continuing as a member of this diocese. Therefore, I hereby resign from membership in the Evangelical Lutheran Diocese of North America. My congregation also met on Sunday, May 15th, in formal assembly and approved the following statement of their own composition to pass on to the diocese, together with their grave disappointment in the direction the diocese has taken:

We the members of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church support our pastor in his decision to leave the ELDoNA. As the Lord emphasizes humility for all of his people, He makes this a priority for his shepherds. This is one of the last lessons he taught his disciples by washing their feet on Maundy Thursday. The bishop’s “episcopal Address to the 2022 Synod of the ELDoNA” is inconsistent with Christ’s example. We recognize that it is our pastor’s decision to be made, but believe that it is appropriate and useful to support him and declare unity with respect to this matter. With a sad heart, we unanimously agree that he should leave the ELDoNA.

I will continue to pray for you all and ask for God’s blessings on your families and on your ministry. To be clear, I am not declaring myself to be out of fellowship with you, as I consider you neither false teachers nor enemies of Christ nor my personal enemies, but as my friends and brothers in Christ who are going down a dangerous path on which I cannot follow. It is not safe to build on the foundation of Christ with wood, hay, and straw, which includes, in my opinion, yielding your God-given authority in your congregations to one who has no call to your congregations, and submitting to being disciplined in matters that God has left free. …

May the merciful Lord guard and defend you from the dangers associated with this sort of polity, as it is being defined and as it is being conducted, and may He guard me and those with me as well, that we may all build on the foundation of Jesus Christ with gold, silver, and precious stones, and not with wood, hay, and straw. Whether you think of me as such or not, I remain your friend and brother in Christ.

A servant of Christ Jesus,

Forget Wikipedia - Someone Needs To Revise the ELDONA Propaganda Videos on YouTube

ELDONA's Wiki Entry Has Serious Errors of Omission. Their Videos Are Fake History

Pastor Heiser admitted to learning how the evil of Objective Justification in 2000, when he admired and sold Thy Strong Word on his website. We often talked about OJ, which he certainly knew, because he supported OJ at the earlier independent church conference he attended in Norfolk, Nebraska. Heiser's comment about Balmer at the conference was, "He denies Objective Justification!"

2006 A.D. - ELDONA was founded, after Heiser was vested in his LCMS retirement fund. I had asked him if anything was going on, a handy honesty test. He said "No," but I had already found his new domain - eldona.org - on one of my searches. Nothing was going on, but he registered a domain name of his nascent archdiocese.

All the ELDONA pastors (except one) were graduates of Ft. Wayne, an OJ seminary. They adored the ravings of David Scaer, the avid castigator of Justification by Faith and the Walter A. Maier patriarchs, I, II, and III.

As I wrote before, at some point Heiser was deliriously happy about fellowship with the Rolf Preus Synod, comprised of Rolf plus a few pastors also kicked out of the Little Sect on the Prairie, united by a common dislike of Pope John the Malefactor. When Heiser made it clear that he had no problems with OJ, I gave up on him. Likewise, he stopped phoning me for advice, money-raising help. book-selling, etc.

Heiser posed with Rolf's OJ posse for his Salem, Malone and ELDONA group. He said they would get rid of Rolf in time, and they did.

2013 A.D. - ELDONA had a sudden and convenient passion for Justification by Faith - after Pastor Paul Rydecki found his mind clarified by discussions among the WELSian Intrepid Lutherans. The Rolf Synod angrily responded and left the alliance. One ELDONUT was angry with me about the sudden change of doctrine, which is odd, given the shun button pushed by Heiser years earlier.

2019 A.D. - As a group, ELDONA has videotaped themselves lying about their doctrinal history.

The Right Reverend Bishop James Milhouse Heiser was not "fully cognizant of the extent of this heresy OJ being taught - until Rydecki was kicked out of WELS for denying it. (16.57)

Orwell's 1984 - ATP, aka The ELDONA Ministry of Truth - is busy manufacturing its history, just as the Walther Perryville cult did - after they robbed and kicked out their bishop.

Once the senior generation dies off or becomes equally forgetful, the residue can build some shrines to The Great Heiser.

Heiser spoke at Higher Things, the  OJ Jungendbund of the LCMS. Klemet Preus (RIP) was president of that group - and was known for his OJ fanaticism, no less than his brothers Rolf and Dan Preus.

Not So Fast, Intrepid Judas Goat

 Pastor Paul Rydecki above,
Pastor Steve Spencer below - at the first and last Intrepid Lutherans conference. I think a second one was planned until Spencer parachuted out. He picked the name Intrepid: ironic or another GA mind-game?

From "Friar" WELS Pastor Steve Spence

Hi Greg,

I know he’s not your favorite person, but Casione (sic) asked if I would forward the article below to you for your comment. Thanks!

I hope all is well with you and yours!

Take care and God bless!

Spence

Cascione has always been a mindless cheerleader for Objective Justification.
Judas Goats save lives - their own.

---

You are not my favorite person either, Intrepid Judas Goat.

Have fun with your fellow apostates.

Greg

Let me count how many have not been given the Left Foot of Fellowship in WELS or Missouri. They are numbered like the empty beer cans in the dormitory trash barrels. Gausewitz, under the bus, was the Synodical Conference president who wrote a Justification by Faith catechism used by all the participating sects.
A Little History

Spencer and I worked on the Orthodox Lutheran Forum together, but he bailed out when WELS made it hot for him.

He asked me about what to do about doctrine and practice in WELS. The idea, from SP Mark Schroeder, was to support him versus the Jeske Crime Family. I suggested a group discussion forum about doctrine. I trusted they would see the work of the efficacious Word, which in fact happened.

Spencer had a non-profit already set up and went with the discussion blog. He named it Intrepid Lutherans.

They tried to get me involved and I refused. Once I was invited to make a statement about Objective Justification, its crafts and assaults, so I did.

They insisted that every participant post their names.

Early one, Spencer told me he was convinced of OJ because the scholar Pastor Paul Rydecki supported it. Doug Lindee, a layman did not quite agree with me but posted his agreement later with my information about it coming from Halle University Pietism. I had help with that, as with all doctrinal research, from others.

Lindee joined ELDONA and stopped writing. Rydecki joined ELDONA and stopped writing. Kneprath, another layman like Lindee, joined ELDONA and stopped writing. ELDONA is a black hole in communication. The gravitas is so great that no one communicates, not even the Lord High Bishop, the Right Reverend James Heiser, former OJ advocate years before, OJ-JBFA compromiser for years, the Chief Article cheerleader in time to scoop up some ELDONA members.

I thought Spencer and maybe another pastor were in agreement with St. Paul, Luther, and the Book of Concord. Maybe Rydecki had the same communications.

When District Pope Buchholz kicked Rydecki out and tried to foreclose the mortgage on the church, the trembling rabbits hid behind Holy Mother Sect and became OJ again. With all the names exposed by Spencer's order, the WELS DPs began sending death squads out to scatter the remaining Intrepids.

Thus Spencer proved to be the perfect Judas goat, leading the WELS members and pastors to slaughter, up the ramp into the freight train, and skipping back down the ramp to enjoy life.

Doubtless Mark Schroeder, his classmate and GA buddy, was very happy with the results.

Are you sure you want to remain in the Intrepids?

ELDONA - Home of the Whopper. Heiser Graduated from Concordia Seminary,
Ft. Wayne, Without ever Hearing Objective Justification?
Fellow Alumnus Verified David Scaer Taught OJ in Dogmatics

The Right Reverend James Rodham Heiser, STM, has no credibility when it comes to Justification by Faith.
ELDONA has a strange passion for beards.

Mars Society Presentation

Note on the video above -

  1. Rydecki knew there were pastors who actually taught the Chief Article 16:50;
  2. ELDONA certainly had pastors who were loudly UOJ and ones like Heiser who knew the difference, but gladly worked with Rolf Preus;
  3. Bishop Heiser gulped (17:03) when he lied about "not being cognizant of this heresy"  UNTIL Pastor Rydecki was booted from WELS, 2012. Heiser was quite aware in 2000. He refused to deal with the issue for 12 years, so ELDONA was not a swarm of OJ deniers, as he claims. An alumnus of Ft. Wayne verified that Scaer taught OJ in Dogmatics class. Scaer mentioned OJ twelve times in his autobiography.
  4. The video at 5.20 is fun, all kinds of excuses for not knowing OJ was wrong in seminary. Nobody mentions who troubled the waters of OJ while they were still comatose - moi.

"Bishop Jim Rodham Heiser - what did we teach you at Concordia, Ft. Wayne? Bob Preus and I hammered OJ into you. You were upset at the Norfolk conference that someone "denied OJ", your words. Have you forgotten so soon?"

First, Pastor Paul Rydecki (formerly WELS) speaks about DP Buchholz lying to his congregation. All the WELS DPs are liars - Buchholz is just especially inept.

Rydecki was in the WELS Intrepid Lutherans (sic), a blog I suggested for group discussion of doctrine. They argued and were divided over Justification. At first, Rydecki argued for Objective Justification. My blog posts got them debating the origin of OJ, and Doug Lindee on that blog and now in ELDONA, I think agreed that OJ came from Halle Pietism.

Note this post on Pietism and OJ in particular - and the date - 2011.

Heiser's claim, 16.44 on the tape - that he "first became aware" of OJ during the Rydecki-Buchholz battle - is a blatant lie. He became aware when he read and sold copies of Thy Strong Word in 2000, which anyone can read for free here. He sold the first edition in 2000 and also told me he discovered how bad OJ was from my OJ quotations there. Before that, as a typical Ft. Wayne student, he thought OJ was fine. However, like many, he assumed OJ meant the Atonement - another deception by the OJists.

I challenged Heiser when he aligned with the Rolf Preus Synod and pretended nothing was wrong. He said, "We will get rid of Rolf later." I told him he would have to deal with Justification eventually, and that happened only with the prospect of Rydecki's congregation and property joining ELDONA and Kneprath's group also joining.

I gave up on Heiser when he decided to link up with the Rolf Synod, but I was encouraged when he was motivated to teach the Chief Article, even if a decade later. They did get rid of Rolf, as planned, but the rest of the tiny group ran back to the Little Sect on the Prairie, sobbing on Pope John the Malefactor's shoulder, hoping the terms of reconciliation would not be too harsh (Krauth reference). Rolf was not alone in his OJ fanaticism. His group agreed with him completely.

Rydecki conveniently skips the fact that he and I were in contact about Justification by Faith. Through a WELS friend, I put him in contact with the Latin works of Hunnius, which he translated.

Most ELDONUTs are from Concordia Seminary, Ft. Wayne.
That may explain their attitudes and poor education.

Unfortunately, the OJ seminaries of WELS-LCMS-ELS teach their students to play political games and venerate their immaculate sect. OJ is the fuel that energizes deception - a habit that is hard to break.

How does one leave the greatest seminary ever - Bethany or Mordor or the Concordias - and not know what the Chief Article is? Please someone explain that to me.

Question for Pastor Paul Rydecki

 Pastor Paul Rydecki above

Jeff Samelson Paul - Hi. I have no agenda in asking this; I'm just curious. I was thinking about this after you posted the letter the other week, and this link seems to provide an opportunity to ask: If you had not been suspended from the WELS ministerium, do you think you would have left on your own? And assuming you would have, what do you think would have been the conditions in which you did, i.e. when and how? (If you don't want to answer this hypothetical, I won't be offended or anything.)

Paul Rydecki It's a fair question, Jeff. What I was pleading for up to the day of my suspension was for the district (and/or synod at large) to restudy this issue, to review the exegesis that had been popularized by Sig Becker et al., to answer the questions I had posed about both the exegesis of the passages in question and the history of the new terminology and concepts that are so different from the terminology and concepts expressed in the Lutheran Confessions, Luther, Chemnitz, etc. My congregation was promised by the presidium that this would, in fact, take place, as recently as a few days before my suspension. But the decision was made at the seminary level that it was a settled issue and needn't be studied further. If there had been a willingness to do that study, it would have demonstrated a willingness to confront possible errors in previous exegesis and in the teachings of the Synodical Conference from early on. If that willingness had been there, who knows what might have happened? But finally, it wasn't there. If I hadn't been suspended, and if my calls to address the doctrinal inconsistencies had gone unheeded, then, yes, I would have eventually left the synod. It's hard to say when, not unlike the WELS struggled with when to part from the LCMS as it was trying to gauge the official response of the LCMS to its calls to orthopraxy. I suppose I would have "filed" a formal state of confession against the synod, and then that would have played out.

Jeff Samelson Paul Rydecki Thanks for the answer!

However, eight years after agreeing with Thy Strong Word,
Heiser was worshiping and conferencing with the UOJ Rolf Preus sect, which returned to the UOJ LCMS and UOJ ELS.

Rydecki Posts WELS Removal Letter, Signed by "Let's Continue To Discuss This Issue" Buchholz

How is your false doctrine working out for you, Jon-Boy?
WELS is tanking and will disappear soon after the equally UOJ ELS.

Jon-Boy actually graduated from a WELS seminary,
which means he is an expert on everything.
The Holy Spirit will not let him err in doctrine, as WELS teaches, because God placed him in that position, with some help from Steve Spencer.
Arguing with a WELS DP is arguing with God! - according to one deluded pastor.

Five years ago today, I was suspended from the ministerium of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). The reason for it is explicitly stated in my letter of suspension, which I share here for the first time. The WELS claimed that I had “denied the truth and fallen into error.” “Specifically,” I had “refused to acknowledge and confess that God forgave the sin of the world when Jesus died on the cross (John 1:29; John 19:30; 1 John 2:2; Romans 5:18; 2 Cor. 5:19; Apology IV, 103).” It’s true that I refused to confess that God “forgave the sin of the world,” because in none of the passages listed as “proof” of this teaching (nor anywhere else in Holy Scripture) does it say anything about God having already “forgiven” the sin of the whole world or about God having already “justified” the whole world (as I have written extensively elsewhere).

What I have learned from Scripture, and what I confess, together with the whole Book of Concord, is that Christ willingly bore the sin of the world, suffered for it and died for it; that God wants all men to be saved; that God, in the Gospel, sincerely offers Christ to all sinners as Mediator and as a refuge from the just condemnation we have all deserved under God’s holy Law; and that God justifies/forgives sinners by grace alone, through faith alone (which is worked by God the Holy Spirit through the Gospel in Word and Sacrament), in Christ Jesus alone, not by works, and not apart from faith. How tragically ironic that a so-called Lutheran church body would condemn as heresy the teaching that sinners are justified by faith alone in Christ—the hallmark of Lutheran doctrine and the teaching on which the Church stands or falls!

UOJists always lie - the LCMS and WELS have included
leaders who taught Justification by Faith, but they
have been removed by the junkyard dogs of Enthusiasm,
who coincidentally love, love, love Church Growth.

So today, I thank God for using the leadership of the WELS to rescue me and my congregation from a heterodox church body. They meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, and has continued to preserve our little flock in the truth of justification by faith alone, even blessing us with a communion of faithful pastors and parishes in the Evangelical Lutheran Diocese of North America (ELDoNA). May God be praised for His precious Gospel, and may He graciously keep us steadfast in His Word. And if anyone is curious about the details of all this and cares enough about the Gospel to examine it further, I am happy to walk through it with anyone.

Doug Lindee, another Intrepid Lutheran,
had to admit that UOJ comes from Pietism.

From 2012 - Pastor Bickel Explains Why WELS Kicked Rydecki Under the Bus

If they can throw the SynCon President under the bus,
they can toss anyone else.

Pastor emeritus Nathan Bickel has left a new comment on your post "DinoLutheran Asks about Samuel Huber and UOJ":

Ichabod -

I believe that it is most natural for church hierarchy to make war upon its own, principally because of two major reasons:

A - It has become comfortable with its own recent church tradition, founded in the [false doctrine] commandments of men. [You have pointed out such recent roots in the 1932 Doctrinal Statement which became a rallying point digressing from the days of Luther and the Lutheran Confessions contained in the Book of Concord]

B - WELS church hierarchy feels it is too far vested in the very false doctrine which it has pushed and promulgated. It would be too humbling to admit its error and stand to be corrected by "outside" beggarly elements such as efforts by you and others. Such is beneath those who comfortably rule and reign in these non Scriptural parish pastor positions of man-made control and high regard.

The cowardly suspension of Pastor Paul Rydecki by the WELS church hierarchy, tells at least 3 things:

1) The WELS Council of Presidents and Synodical President Schroeder are unwilling to take a step back and witness how the WELS has drifted away from the Scriptural Christianity of their Lutheran forebears.

2) WELS church hierarchy is very concerned that many WELS pastors do not subscribe to their universal objective Justification mantra stance. Hence, this recent suspension to warn WELS pastors not to preach and teach the truth of Scripture; the Lutheran Confessions and Luther. This WELS intimidating action is a form of bully control over pastors who have so much invested in the church of their youth and seminary days.

3) WELS church hierarchy has now set forth a litmus test to its entire clergy. This is a very simplistic, yet devilish device to "encourage" and lean on all clergy to hue to the universal objective justification party line. These WELS ecclesiasts could be somewhat compared to our nation's liberal news media who have cast their lots (hook, line and sinker) behind a corrupted White House occupier. These head cheese churchmen will fight tooth and nail to rationalize and justify their pet false and corrupted doctrine. Come hell or high water, and no matter what, everything and everyone is but dust under their sanctimonious feet.
