WELS DP Buchholz Will Consecrate the NNIV Version of the Seminary Cornerstone

Two people were kind enough to send me a cornerstone photo from Mequon. I did not notice the new motto until today. I bow to their Photoshop abilities.

The Mequon faculty must be nervous about people asking difficult questions regarding forgiveness without faith (UOJ).

Justification by faith is too well documented in the Scriptures, Confessions, Luther, and the Concordists to dismiss.

If we had a Hunnius or P. Leyser, caught with a tract promoting UOJ, there would be reason to doubt the dominance of justification by faith. However, we have just the opposite - Samuel Huber teaching a position (based on his previous Calvinism) very close to WELS-ELCA-LCMS-ELS today. The response from the Concordists was volcanic. Huber was carefully unmasked as false teacher and removed from the Wittenberg faculty, as all the Mequon, St. Louis, Ft. Wayne, and Mankato professors should be today.

Instead, the Jar-Jar Binks of WELS, DP Jon Buchholz, will visit the dormitory basement to unleash his doctrinal ignorance on the poor, suffering students.

The more they make a show of their support for UOJ, the more students will suspect their insecurities.

Didn't Buchholz deliver the same nonsense to the Anything Goes District of WELS, where Ski is patiently waiting to get his job back from Engelbrecht?

Didn't Buchholz lie to the New Mexico congregation, promising to continue the discussion about justification at the upcoming conference, only to drive out their pastor and the congregation itself?

Didn't Buchholz brag at that same conference that he was foreclosing the loan on the New Mexico congregation, licking his chops?

Buchholz, like the rest of the WELS District Popes, has shown himself to be a man without faith, without principles, without integrity, but not without guile.

The Secret History of Church and Change: No Names Given

In 1995, a group of about 10-12 men [GJ - who?] gathered at Wisconsin Lutheran College to discuss current methods of sharing Jesus which were commonly being used in the WELS at that time.  Many at the first meeting felt that those methods of sharing Jesus were not “keeping up with” the rate of change in society.  The message of the Bible was not, therefore, penetrating society very well. [GJ - Cuz the Word cannot do it without Schwaermer help.]
 
 In 1998 two men [GJ - who?] who had attended the first meeting planned a Church and Change conference in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  The next year there was a second conference in Green Bay.  About 20 people attended each year. 
[GJ - Witte and Parlow, doubtless, the rotten apples in Appleton. Parlow is still in Appleton, with Mark Freier as a coach/consultant. Witte is head of the Asian seminary - another co-inky-dink of the Scroeder administration.]

In May 2001, WELS Parish Services applied for and received a Forward in Christ grant to conduct a three-year pilot program to address the issues surfaced by the previous two Church and Change conferences.  The three-year pilot program was designed to be a grassroots gathering of individuals who were pioneering new innovative methods of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with a changing culture. [GJ - You suckers paid to get Church and Change going, so they could network for synod, Thrivent, and foundation grants. No WELS funding, eh?]

Three annual conferences were planned and held beginning in 2001.  At the first conference, approximately 50 WELS members attended.  The attendance grew to 150 in the second year and 180 in the third year.  By the third year, the attendees included more than just individuals who were actively pioneering new and innovative methods for sharing Jesus.  Many in attendance wanted to learn about how to better share the gospel with the changing culture in which they served.  In addition to the three annual conferences a variety of other workshops and gatherings were held dealing with specific ministry issues such as leadership, worship, and women’s ministry. 

At the final conference of the three-year pilot, held in November 2003, the conference participants enthusiastically encouraged the organizers to continue Church and Change.  A steering committee was subsequently formed from among the participants to address the future direction of Church and Change. 

From November 2003 until the present the steering committee has met and drafted a proposal that addresses the future of Church and Change.

Few laity are testing the spirits today. Most are satisfied with handing the eternal disposition of their souls to the clergy who've "studied Greek".

What good does all of that study do when the clergy reject the efficacy of the Word in favor of human reason and fellowship? Years of studying Greek is nothing if the individual has rejected the faith of the Holy Spirit from Whom all Scriptural understanding comes from.

Here's is an email I received from antichristian DP Pastor Jon Buchholz when I was contending against the use of women to read Scripture during the divine service.

Subject: Women in the church

First, it appears that your understanding of the theology and practice of fellowship is in error. The Christian Church has through the centuries worked through theological differences carefully and patiently, through dialog, study and instruction, prior to severing fellowship. This has been true throughout history, going back to ancient times (Arian controversy, for example, that culminated after lengthy discussion in the Council of Nicea) and exemplified in recent controversies, such as the split between LC-MS and WELS in the early 1960s after lengthy study and dialog. The fact that you have a disagreement with Pastor Schewe doesn't mean that you should sever fellowship and abstain from Holy Communion. Quite to the contrary , you should all commit yourselves to devotion and study of the word, allow for patient dialog and instruction from God’s word, and receive Holy Communion for the strengthening of your faith. Your decree that you are “out of fellowship” with Holy Trinity and even with Pastor Schewe, simply because you have talked about this issue once or twice or a few times, is at this point very premature. Time will tell whether there is persistent error that necessitates a breach of fellowship.

Second, to the specific issue of women in the church, remember that there are principles and there are applications of principles. The principles are always inviolate. Some applications of principles are always inviolate. Other applications of principles may vary depending upon a whole passel of factors, including but not limited to: strength or weakness of faith; cultural sensitivities; customs of the people, and church etc. (An example might be the way Luther dealt with the radicals at Wittenberg who wanted to take the Reformation too quickly. He backed off and moved slowly, allowing the word to do its work in people’s hearts before he instituted things like Communion in both kinds—certainly a biblical practice.) In asserting that Pastor Schewe was wrong to allow women to read sections of Scripture antiphonally, you want to be careful that you don’t turn the application of a principle into the principle itself. The principle that women are not to teach or have authority over a man is inviolate. Some applications of that principle, e.g., women pastors, women teaching men in Bible study, etc., are inviolate. However there is quite a stretch between women teaching (i.e., expounding, explaining, clarifying and elucidating Scripture) and reading Scripture antiphonally and collectively without giving instruction. (This doesn't mean that Scripture itself is not instructive; that power to instruct inheres in the word. And, as you well know, the power and efficacy of the word to instruct is 
not made more or less effective whether it’s read by a woman or a man.)

Another question that may well be raised is whether a practice is wrong (i.e. inherently sinful) or merely ill-advised under the circumstances. Since in this case in point you’re dealing with an application—not the principle itself—there are a number of criteria that are to be evaluated to ascertain the benefit or detriment of an application. Does it pander to or foster a particular false belief? Is it an accommodation to worldly practice and mindset? Is it edifying? And so forth.

Clearly in the case of Pastor Rydecki and the (W)ELS' ongoing war against one Justification solely By Faith in Christ Alone - lengthy study and dialog is more of an application of a principle instead of the principle itself. And as for that sophistry it happens to be the same used by the Roman Catholic Church when it acts and teaches contrary to Scripture.

The last highlighted section speaks for itself, "However there is quite a stretch between women teaching (i.e., expounding, explaining, clarifying and elucidating Scripture) and reading Scripture antiphonally and collectively without giving instruction."

(W)ELS should be ashamed of their leaders, call them to repentance and deal with them swiftly according to their long standing doctrine and practice.

The last communication I received from my contention with Holy Trinity over allowing the women in the church to read Scripture to the congregation during the divine service, and following Pastor Buchholz' external attempts at smothering my concerns, was this statement:
"After prayerful consideration and study of the Word in this matter we believe that antiphonal worship is a proclamation or reading of God's inspired word and is not considered to be 'teaching' the congregation. Reading of scripture as a congregation is an activity to be encouraged in worship. Teaching of scripture is an activity that the Lord in His Word has clearly reserved for the Pastor or other duly appointed official man of the congregation."

Any wonder that (W)ELS continues to excommunicate Christ's Church from their fellowship?

GJ - Double-mindedness and double-talk are not the sole possession of Jon Buchholz in WELS. No other sect, in my experience, practices deceit at all levels.

GA, their secret hazing ritual is still going on. They selected six victims to be the elite few to keep the tradition going. Anyone connected with Mequon will deny it, but someone told. Find him and beat him like a rented mule - it's a WELS tradition.

The seminarians tell church members how hard they study and laugh that people believe them.

WELS clergy tell the inquiring that they hold a quia subscription to the Book of Concord, but their own literature rejects the Confessions and brags (in Wayne Mueller's words) that the Book of Concord that they reject encourages them to invent new dogma.

Speaking of Wayne Mueller--seminary professor, Perish Services boss, synod VP--he claimed that WELS had no CG programs whatsoever when clergy were all holding CG materials lovingly distributed by Mueller's hirelings. Reversing himself in the same lying NWL post, he claimed that any CG programs in WELS were in accordance with the Confessions. Those would be, I assume, those programs that never existed in the first place.

One can hardly suppress a wry smile when WELS rants against ELCA for open homosexual advocacy when WELS produces, publishes, and defends an openly gay video from Martin Luther College students, one that is still on Facebook and has 1300+ fans. Mark Schroeder and Joel Hochmuth issued a letter against ELCA for its stance. A few months later, gay bloggers were joyously  featuring Hochmuth's arrest for man/boy porn as an example of closeted homosexuals in a gay-hating denomination.

WELS is pro-life but the sect is happy to work with ELCA, whose health insurance coverage includes abortion for any reason. Thrivent, with Mark Jeske on the board, is the real boss of WELS. Anything for a buck - but they deny it, of course.

One aspect of Jon Buchholz' double-talk is the deliberate study gambit, one that he used during the agonizingly slow study of Jeff Gunn's emergent church, more or less a Rick Warren clone. Jon-Boy was concerned about all those souls at CrossWalk, but not concerned about false doctrine. With deliberate speed he convened two different blue-ribbon commissions to study the issue. During those four years, WELS and Buchholz and Mark Schroeder made it clear that Gunn had their blessing. Ignoring a critical report (watered down by Buchholz meddling), the DP enfant terrible embraced Gunn and his hive  - not as Prodigal Sons, but as beloved sons.

And yet, this same DP took about four months to get rid of a Circuit Pastor, Paul Rydecki, and his congregation - after promising to continue to study the issue of justification by faith. Jon-Boy had such a tantrum about his beloved UOJ that everyone in the district is afraid to dispute a syllable from the consecrated computer of His Eminence. Consider that when reading the email above.

Double-talk. Two-faced. Duplicity.

My prayers go out to Pastor Rydecki and to all those who support him. Funny that those "other" pastors "ain't" been suspended (?) Pastor Buchholz has dishonored his position as District President; this is not acceptable behavior on his part. I am very VERY disappointed in the COP and seminary leaders actions of not wanting to have an honest discussion over the Doctrine Of Justification. This issue has been brewing for some time, and did not just come to light earlier in the week!

Sorry about the comment that Pastor GJ had to moderate. (aka he did not post it) I'm sure the drugstore will provide you with more smelling salts. Everyone needs to read that letter. I will pass it up the line....WAY UP! The WELS is in trouble, and the leaders must face issues that dwarf the perils of the Intrepids.(well at least one Intrepid for now) See the verses from Galatians chapter 3:

Just a clarification that the October 29 CN DID use my statement, verified by Pastor Rydecki via e-mail, "The October 15 Christian News reported that Rev. Paul Rydecki was suspended as a Pastor in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

He remains pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. That church now lists itself as 'an independent confessional Lutheran congregation.' His church voted to disaffiliate from WELS on October 17, and that allowed Rydecki to remain as pastor there."

It was included as an editorial note after Jack Cascione's commentary without my name.

CN did not use Rydecki's statement from Steadfast Lutherans (sic see below) (at least not yet), which I forwarded to CN twice.

The conference of presidents, on the recent call list, Oct. 2012, reports that Paul Rydecki has been suspended from ministry of the WELS. No further information is given, and one is left to wonder what did he do????

On the Intrepid Lutherans web page there appeared the announcement that one of its contributors, Rev. Paul Rydecki, has been suspended from the WELS. Following articles and an explanation from Rydecki explained that the reason was because of Rydecki’s views concerning objective, universal, justification. He stated and defended his position in a paper given last June in Oshkosh, “Are You A Dresden Lutheran?” A copy of the DP letter of suspension to Rydecki was also posted.

One wonders why more information concerning suspensions for doctrinal reasons cannot be given. It seems that in order to understand what is going on in the Synod one must go to unofficial sources.

What Paul Rydecki (also the egocentric synergist Greg Jackson) is teaching on justification is nothing new to the Lutheran Church and something which Confessional Lutherans have always rejected.

The position that Rydecki is promoting has its origin back in Melanchthon’s teachings on the three causes of conversion — the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the will of man. In the discussions in the 50s between the old American Lutheran Church and the LCMS concerning justification, the ALC wanted to teach that God had secured and provided salvation for all people. This is objective or universal redemption, not objective justification. The LCMS along with the WELS insisted on the words, that God has not only secured and provided salvation for all, but that God has declared the whole world righteous in Christ Jesus. This they called objective Justification. (A term that is preferred over universal justification, which can cause some misunderstandings.) By only saying “secured and provided salvation” the door is open for some cooperation or contributions on the part on man. Good, God has provided it, how do I get it? But by insisting on the term God has DECLARED the whole world righteous, all works or cooperation on man’s part are removed.

The men in the ALC, from the old Ohio Synod, wanted to teach “Erst muss der Mensch glauben, dann wird er gerechtfertigt (first must the man believe, then he becomes justified). This old error taught that first one must believe that Christ died for all, then he will be justified. This puts the cart before the horse, my faith before my justification. Against this old heresy Walther and others maintained the formula – Justificatio non post fidem, sed per fidem (Justification not after faith, but through faith). This is the position of Lutheran Orthodoxy. Today we use the term objective justification to teach this truth. God has declared the whole world righteous in Christ Jesus (God so loved the world, John 3:16; The Lutheran church sings, “Christ thou Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, have mercy on me.”)

Of course now, the other side, the Holy Spirit working through the means of Grace must now change the hard and disobedient will of man which is dead in sin and an enemy of God. The Holy Spirit moves the will of man to accept and believe this objective justification. This we call subjective justification. The two must go together; — and you can’t have one without the other!!! If one rejects the objective, universal justification, he cannot be saved. He is lost. We do not believe in universalism, everyone is going to heaven.

The Bible connects universal redemption and universal, objective, justification and treats them as the same.For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:5-7. Christ died for all. This Rydecki does not reject. But in the same book, a chapter earlier, Paul writes, But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, Romans 4:4-6

God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many (i.e., all) were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many (i.e., all) will be made righteous. (Rom 5:18,19)

The Lutheran Confessions, although not using the term objective justification, teach this concept.

But when the Lord Jesus Christ came, He forgave to all people the sin, which no one could avoid. … Christ took away the sin of the whole world, as John testified saying in John 1:29, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Apology, Art IV, Justification, 103 Concordia, page 99

Just as the preaching of repentance is universal, so also the promise of the Gospel is universal, that is, it belongs to all people. Formula of Concord, Art XI, 28, Concordia, p. 606

All have sinned and (all) are justified freely. Smalcald Articles, second part, Art. I,3, Concordia, page 263.

[GJ - He has to add his NNIV "all" to make UOJ show up where it is not - a bit dishonest.

3] Likewise: All have sinned and are justified without merit [freely, and without their own works or merits] by His grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, in His blood, Rom. 3:23f. SA, II, I, 3.]

By way of illustration: A man pays my entire debt, gives me a check, and declares me debt free. But I must believe this, cash the check. It does me no good until I cash it. But I cannot cash it before he declares me debt free. [GJ - Where is this lame analogy in the Bible - II Seymour?]

This clear teaching that God has declared all people righteous, Objective Justification (WELS catechism, question 253) Rydecki refuses to accept and teach. Thus he is rightly to be removed from the ministry of the WELS!

GJ - I met Mark Bartling, former LCR pastor, retired as a WELS pastor. He had nothing bad to say about WELS until he was safely retired.

Obviously, Mark has no idea what synergism is. He is as bad as the pastors who equate justification by faith with Calvinism.

WELS has republished J. P. Meyer's Ministers of Christ, where the Mequon professor teaches--for all time--decision theology, like Walther. But what a decision! Walther  and Meyer-

1. The entire world of unbelievers is forgiven, absolved, and saved.
2. Now make a decision about this information.

Bartling is abusing Romans 4:25 without naming the passage.

His precious double-justification language is from Halle Pietist Georg Christian Knapp, not the Bible.

I know David Becker sent one, but Otten is famous for spiking stories he does not like.
