How Different from the "Conservative" Lutherans Who Crave Thrivent Abortion-Friendly Money

Work with ELCA? No problem. Grab money from abortion-friendly Thrivent? No problem. Stand up for Biblical principles instead of money? Huge problem.
Martin Luther College (WELS) will transform your children!
S/he posted a Satanic symbol on Facebook, too.

Listen to this African Methodist leader about the radical denominational proposal to change its clergy standards, much like ELCA's in 2009. The vote failed, thanks to Third World leaders, but no thanks to American bishops, who backed it big time.

“With all due respect, a fixation on money seems more of an American problem than an African one. We get by on far less than most Americans do; we know how to do it. I’m not so sure you do. So if anyone is so naïve or condescending as to think we would sell our birth right in Jesus Christ for American dollars, then they simply do not know us.
We are seriously joyful in following Jesus Christ and God’s holy word to us in the Bible. And in truth, we think many people in the U.S. and in parts of Europe could learn a great deal from us. The UM churches, pastors and lay people who partner with us acknowledge as much.
Please understand me when I say the vast majority of African United Methodists will never, ever trade Jesus and the truth of the Bible for money (emphasis added).

What is more charming in WELS than children putting female makeup on the pastor and the all male church council?

Start the third sex early, at Michigan Lutheran Seminary.

WELS funded this Church and Change boondoggle and appointed administrators based on their loyalty to this tripe. But DP Kudu Don Patterson was never a member - I just want to say that for the record, because they are all liars.

I was wondering how long it would be before you posted on the WELS decrease in giving. I read it yesterday on the WELS site, and it read like a "blame the member for our problems." This decrease comes at a time when many of our Lutheran Schools in WI, even Luther Prep, accept vouchers from the state ( although, I don't know if Luther Prep has any voucher students yet, although they are in the program). And, this decrease is at a time when MLC is asking for a special gift for their 25th anniversary - $70,000 for a statue, and $30,000 for student financial aid. (A little turned around, don't you think?) Keep up the good work. I've been recovering from a few serious illnesses the last few years, but your sermons have helped me through, and the dog articles, and creation gardening accounts, have been extremely enjoyable. Always a fan!

WELS Money Report Not Unexpected

The WELS money report was not unexpected.

For decades, the Church and Change Church Shrinkers and Objective Justification salesmen have worked hard to remove all vestiges of Biblical, Lutheran doctrine and practices from WELS.

WELS replaced Gausewitz, slowly, with the Kuske Dick, Jane, and Sally OJ catechism. A doctrinal reversal? No one noticed. Two farmers in Kokomo objected, and WELS kicked them out for quoting JP Meyer, whose idiotic commentary was lovingly re-published by WELS, the same blokes who accepted Catholic, Lutheran, Protestant for publication and then rejected it.

Since shunning is a sacrament in WELS, they used shunning to get rid of students who saw the light in prep, college, or seminary. The sacraments are normally for individual, but the WELS Sacrament of Shunning is aimed at the individual, spouse, children, grandchildren, and friends, so it works like leprosy on the fears of all.

The Marines have a saying, that 10% are incompetent or criminal. The difference in WELS is that those 10% are raised to positions of leadership, protected, promoted, and given enormous egos.

The talkative, intrepid Judas Goats simply pretend to object to WELS so they can deliver the disloyal into the hands of the SP, DPs, and CPs - angry men all.

The result of all this is not going to be the specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely goals they dreamed about in the bars of Milwaukee and New Ulm. Not even the Niagara Falls of money from Schwan the Home-Wrecker could bail out WELS.

Enjoy the show - it can only get worse. I hope all the leaders live to be 100, so they can view the wreckage for themselves. They had their way, but God holds sway.

Best not to go against His Word.

The angry men of WELS took over, a long time ago, and look at how much they have accomplished. The sect is broke during a booming economy.

CMO totals for 2018 and CMO subscriptions for 2019

Congregation Mission Offerings (CMO) received in 2018 totaled $21,111,878. We are trying to be grateful for this almost generous support of (don't forget of) our synod’s mission and ministry. The total, however, was $246,000 (1.2%) below the offerings received in 2017 and $148,000 (0.7%) less than what congregations had indicated in their CMO subscriptions for the year. More than a decade of flat, and now even decreasing, CMO has made it increasingly challenging to maintain our current level of ministry, not to mention to seize some of the many gospel opportunities that God is graciously placing before us. We can hardly afford our Fuller, Willow Creek, and Trinity Divinity scholarships for mission pastors, staff, and stooges.

In the past, loyal and obedient WELSians knew how to serve and obey.

Adding to that challenge is the fact that subscriptions for 2019 are a measly $20,913,700, nearly 1% less than 2018 receipts. Since our anointed planning forecasted that subscriptions would be met in 2018 and that subscriptions for 2019 would increase by 0.5%, the task to maintain and expand staff salaries and benefits has become even more difficult. The results for 2018 and subscriptions for 2019 are $350,000 less than the forecast and compound to reductions from what was used for planning the next biennium of $454,000 and $456,000 for Fiscal Year 20 and Fiscal Year 21, respectively. This is how you repay us for all those Church Growth insights, NIV Bibles, and plagiarized Pietist dogmas?

Faithful scholars at Mordor have approved our cash cow - the new NIV. We believe in democracy and transparency - don't say yes until I finish talking.

One bit of good news is that offerings for January 2019 were 6.4% higher than the January offerings in 2018.
At its meeting later this week, the Synodical Council will be looking to adopt a Ministry Financial Plan that recognizes these financial realities. All areas of ministry have been asked to look for ways to economize and to plan for less spending than what had been anticipated. Once a plan for the next two years is adopted by the Synodical Council, it will be forwarded to the synod convention this summer for shaming.
As the economy improves, we pray that God will enable congregations to meet—and even exceed—their CMO subscriptions in 2019. And for Ichabod - name it not! - to stop publishing the truth about us. "And all Kelm's people said Amen?" Amen!
Serving in Christ,
President Mark Schroeder
