FDR on TV During the Stock Market Crash

Senator Biden's best side

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened,'" Senator Joe Biden told CBS Evening News.

The stock market crashed in October 1929. FDR was not president and did not get on TV. Neither did President Hoover. Television was not in general use until after WWII.

The first demonstration of TV was at the 1934 world's fair. Apart from those two little facts, Biden was right on target, as usual...as the Clown Prince of Politics.
