Baby Concord Says

"Fight the Good Fight with All Thy Might"
by John S.B. Monsell, 1811-1875

1. Fight the good fight With all thy might;
Christ is thy Strength and Christ thy Right.
Lay hold on life, and it shall be
Thy joy and crown eternally.

2. Run the straight race Thro' God's good grace;
Lift up thine eyes and seek His face.
Life with its way before us lies;
Christ is the Path and Christ the Prize.

3. Cast care aside; Upon thy Guide
Lean, and His mercy will provide;
Lean, and the trusting soul shall prove
Christ is its Life and Christ its Love.

4. Faint not nor fear, His arms are near;
He changeth not, and thou art dear.
Only believe, and thou shalt see
That Christ is All in all to thee.

The Lutheran Hymnal? What's that?

In Christian Worship I believe the hymn name is, "Roll Over You Stubborn Legalists!" It has 8 different tunes that can be used which include Masai War Drumming and twinkling bells of fairies. Can't remember the hymn number.

Brett, I know you're being facetious, but (just for the record) "Fight the Good Fight" is hymn number 457 in CW. It is sung to the same melody of TLH. They have only updated the language a bit ("thou art dear" to "you are dear," e.g.) except for changing "Christ thy right" to "Christ your light." I bet it would sound pretty impressive with Masai War Drumming, though.

I think C&C might give the CW version an '8' ~ "cause you can dance to it" and it's "relevant" And if your young virgin staff ministers can perform a liturgical dance, during the hymn, on the belly skins freshly shorn from newborn impala that would really be cool and excellent.

Thank you I.J., you took the wind right out of my sails. I was beginning to enjoy my own personal Emergent church roast a little too much. I was trying to work up a post to include "like hobo's on a hotdog" when I read your post. Thanks again.

Brett, O.K., I'm probably being a little thick here... What in tarnation did your last post mean?

"Open the door, Richard." I've heard it said before, but I ain't gonna hear it said no more!
