Ski's Mentor Does the Worm

Way cool and totally awesome, dude!

Yeah, Craig Groeschel is the man.

I’m pretty sure that you’ll be able to see and experience much more than this at Catalyst’s 10 Year Anniversary gathering in October.

Get your tickets early because unlike Craig’s obviously unlimited breakdancing talent, the tickets to Catalyst aren’t

---

This video of Craig Groeschel contains the one quote that I have not only come to love but has been one of the driving forces behind what I do through and for online ministry:

“To reach people that no one is reaching you have to do things that no one is doing.”

I feel that for the first time in my life I’ve done the “planned abandonment” and discovered the “assignment” that God has given for me to do. Thus, I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.

Thanks Craig for your words. The impact has been huge.

Pastors sense something seriously wrong with WELS leadership. Unable to get divine guidance from WELS leaders, they search around in other denominations. There is no telling what they drag back to mislead WELS members.

Even in a culture of know-it-all pastors, some pastors seek outside consultation. It makes one wonder why if their peers are so all knowing.

WELS pastors always need another faker to help muddy the waters. Go Patterson and Ski, go.

What good is the Mequon Sem? It does NOT turn out LUTHERAN pastors. Vote to shut it down.

Mequon needs to give classes in Fellowship 101. Sad thing is maybe there is nobody qualified to teach it. Personally I think that those among us who like this new contemporary, wannbe Baptist flavor of doing church need to gather into a group such as Church and Change and then vote to secede from the rest of us. We cannot all be in the same church when we believe and practice different things. Let's encourage them to invite speaker they choose so that the rest of us can see their error, mark them, and avoid them. At the risk of sounding like Obama, I think change is on the way. That change may be a split. LCMS did it to clear out the riff raff. Sadly, the day is drawing near when WELS will have to do the same.

God’s Word is our great heritage
And shall be ours forever;
To spread its light from age to age
Shall be our chief endeavor.
Through life it guides our way,
In death it is our stay.
Lord, grant while worlds endure,
We keep its teachings pure
Throughout all generations.

I say "let's crucify all of them and sell all their belongings."
This would stop the outflow of cash for the short term and it would give everyone, on this blog looking for rolling heads, some PAYBACK of the funds that were “swindled” by the synod leadership. At least until the know-it-alls in this forum take charge of the money.

How many of you that is complaining here have actual experience operating successful businesses, running large cap funds, market shares, banks, etc. If you replace one so-called "loser" with another, the synod will be flushed down the financial toilet again. This time by YOU!

In order to "de-Romanize" the synod, we need to place strong, proven BUSINESS LEADERS in charge. Our Pastors, professors, etc. need to get back in the synod as our spiritual leaders and teachers.

It has been proven without any doubt through the history of the world, spiritual leaders ARE NOT GOOD business leaders. Even within the last 30 or so years, the Southern Baptist personnel have proven this.

Spiritual leaders are good business leaders when they are successful performing the deed outlined in my first sentence. The popes and other so-called spiritual leaders have performed very well in this area through the centuries with the mantra “Kill them all, let God sort them out!”

have fun with this one "Commodians"

Two things:

1) Prof. Brug's book on Church Fellowship -- read it before you say that no one at the Sem could teach a course on it.

2) As for the hymn you quote: everybody knows that Nikolai Grundtvig wrote that hymn... but wasn't talking about the Bible; he was talking about the "spoken Word" i.e. the enthusiastic, schwaermer preaching popular among the Pietists who felt directly moved by the Spirit while in the pulpit. ("Spoken word" used NOT in the sense that the UAC uses it, that is, a proper exposition / exegesis of Scripture.)

Grundtvig was what we would call a revivalist, who over-emphasized sanctification in his preaching.

"The foundations of Christianity were the Apostles’ Creed, faith in the Holy Trinity and the renunciation of the Devil and all his works. A true Christian, Grundtvig claimed, need only follow these simple precepts to prove his sincerity. Sophisticated and hairsplitting biblical exegesis was not only superfluous, but harmful. Grundtvig’s writings had an immense influence on people’s view both of church and school. To some extent, the religious fundamentalists agreed with him, although they did not abandon the idea of the Scriptures as the basic source of inspiration for the church."

Ironic, isn't it? Taking this hymn as their own is good example of orthodox Lutherans "despoiling the Pietists" and using their music for their own purposes. Something to think about...

Some WELS pastors have taken up the yelling and screaming and getting in peoples' faces as a way of manipulation.

Anon 4:36 PM,

Unfortunately too many pastors refuse to stick to the spiritual work instead of dawdling around playing business executive. They fail as pastors and executives.

I wish life were that simple. Our pastors, professors, etc. won't do it.

Amen, brother. And pastors need to mind the spiritual business.

If you enjoy getting told off and condescending pastors, join WELS.

The problems stem not from a lack of experience but from not doing the right thing, e.g., keeping a straight set of books. Save the excuses for someone who buys them.

So now there is a problem with this hymn? Maybe the poster should have quoted the lyrics to 'Awesome God'. Geeeezz, somebody is awfully touchy. Get over it.

Our God is an awesome God
Our God is an awesome God
(Our God is an awesome God)
(Our God is an awesome God)
