Apologies to Doris Day

Hear Doris Day sing the newest Church and Change hymn.

Once I had a secret love
That lived within the heart of me
All too soon my secret love
Became impatient to be free

So I told a friendly star
The way that dreamers often do
Just how wonderful you are
And why I'm so in love with you

Now I shout it from the highest hills
Even told the golden daffodils
At last my heart's an open door
And my secret love's no secret anymore

Hi Professor,

not trying to be contentious, but weren't you the one defending SP Schroeder before? What do you mean to turn him into a flower child? Don't get it.

GJ - Flower child? The first graphic shows a morganatic (secret) marriage between Jeske and Kieschnick. The first stage of this relationship had Jeske involved in lecturing at Concordia U. (LCMS, Mequon), participating in a joint service with the LCMS, and speaking at a Missouri district meeting.

I thought the old Doris Day lyrics fit the new situation, with Jeske promoted on the home page of the Missouri Synod. "Now my secret love's no secret anymore."

The "friendly star" is Bruce Becker, an expert in explaining fellowship principles.

"Now I shout it from the highest hills
Even told the golden daffodils."

At some point Jeske has to explain to Schroeder, and the Wisconsin State DPs that he is a Missouri pastor now. Therefore, the three DPs and the SP are the daffodils.

I still think SP Schroeder is doing a great job, and I do not envy him at all.

I believe the folks who tell me "Schroeder is the right guy for the job", but I think I can legitimately criticize him for not using his authority enough. Granted, I don't envy him for his job or responsibilities.

Many people I talk with say "well, Schreder's gotta do things the right way. You can't just draw guns and start shooting". I ask "why not?" What will it take for an errorist to be deemed "persistent"? Are the Confessional WELS folks really that naive?

WELS folks also speak of preserving unity. I ask, what benefit is unity if we're unified by a subjective mediocre gospel? I'd rather see the WELS break up than see every church get infected with Willow Creekisms. (So many already are) Again, are the confessional WELS folks so naive as to think that this HUGE problem in the WELS can be corrected without losing churches or members?

The tree needs pruning and deadwood needs to be cut away and discarded. Any gardener knows how potent that analogy really is. If you skip pruning because you can't bear to trim your beautiful plant, what'll happen?

Completely off-topic, but I would like to invite you to listen to the MLC Christmas Concert. It is being broadcast via UStream from 3 p.m. CST.

Nice touch. The yellow flowers bring out the surrealism in WELS.

Just as too many cooks spoil the broth, too many pastors spoil a religion. There will always be undisciplined and fool pastors who seek to subvert doctrine for their own gain and ego trips. WELS is the perfect example.

Now is the time for WELS to admit that it is a failure and either shutdown or restore some semblance of integrity with the Word of God.
