I Am Not Making This Up! -
The CORE's Christmas Service Show Will Be: Charlie Brown's Christmas

Charlie Brown's Christmas

Insurance Agent Jackson,

What is actually going on is that the Core is having a sermon series entitled "Christmas at the Movies." Ski uses the movies as a jumping off point to talk about what is really important about the celebration of Christmas. They show the movie in question (Elf, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, and The Charlie Brown Christmas) at 3:00 and then have a worship service at 5:00. In the service, he will show a clip of the movie and then go into Scripture.

Hey, here's an idea: Why don't you come up to Appleton and see what his service is like before you make comments as if you know the whole story already. It might make for a posting that is actually informed. Then again, I don't think I could expect that kind of honesty out of you when half-truth and inuendo seem to be your weapons of choice.

Merry Christmas Greggy Brown!

GJ - I am too busy as a tent-maker to sit down with Entertainment Specialist Ski and explain Lutheran worship to him.

Everything in the name of outreach and evangelism. After all, isn't one soul transfer worth it? [GJ - There, I fixed it.]

Looks like the 6th 13th and 20th are also Christmas movie services. I think the Ghost of Christmas Future has already visited Appleton. Do they distribute the popcorn butter in individual cups?

Mark Walters, I know, who am I to question how Ski does ministry.

I would like to know why the ministry attracts so many crackpots.

Don't worry, I'm sure Ski will explain all this in an upcoming blog post...oops, sorry, he hasn't blogged since July. Must be too busy reading magazines in his office in order to remain relevant.

AHHHH ha ha ha ha
"Old Millstones for new! Old Millstones for new! Preachers get a discount! Old Millstones for new"

OKAY PROFESSOR,
If the WELS leadership (I.e. SP) doesn't take this opportunity to come down with the hobnail boot of church discipline, what will it take?

GOOD GRIEF!!

Sooner or later the supposed conservative leadership of the WELS is going to neeeeed to act decisively to maintain what they allege about themselves. The longer you go without public criticism the worse it will get.
If SP Schroeder actually has the authority to publicly condemn this sort of stuff then he should. People who have been brought up to "Fear Love and Trust" the WELS above all things are being deprived of an opportunity to learn a little discernment. Sadly, I don't think the playbook includes a public declamation against false doctrine. "We don't want to make it seem like we've got a unity problem..." Yes,yes, I know Schroeder has a hard job. I've heard that one before. I've heard he's conservative. Okay. If he is, great: Let's see something ACTual, or hear something that isn't cloaked in hints. Enough dancing around the opponent. Get in the fight! If he's worth defending, as you do, let's hear a reaffirmation of Justification by Faith and a denial of UOJ. That'd be a heck of a start!

You are one of the few pastors that I respect. You had the courage to be an independent. Good for you! I can expect that courage from others, right?

How xxxxx inappropriate! Someone obviously despises Christ and the Word of God. This is very sick.

If these bozos don't love Christ, they need to be driven out of the ministry. Also, get rid of the members who go along with it.

No doubt this is for kids. These ministries tend to lean towards outreach events for families with small children. If you look on the 22nd, I believe this is their official worship service with Koine.

You over react too much.

You would have had a much better time exploiting and broadcasting their evilness with movies "Elf' or 'Home Alone" that they showed the previous two weeks. (I'd love to see Macaulay Culkin's screaming face on this blog anyhow.)

The movies are shown prior to the service and a concept from the movie is tied into the sermon. At least they get to hear Luke 2 from Linus!!

JK, they are having the Koine service and a the Christmas Eve service. Christmas Day worship is at St. Peter. Thought I'd mention that before someone thinks they are skipping out on Christmas.

Wow, Sceleratissimus Lutheranus, I didn't know anyone could write musical parody worse than Insurance Agent Jackson. Thanks for proving me wrong!

(Sob) What a stunningly beautiful way to ponder the mystery of the incarnation: watch a cartoon. Forget "Of the Father's Love Begotten"! We've got popcorn and Snoopy!

Too busy as a tent-maker, but not too busy as a constant blogger who regurgitates the same old accusations day after day.

Anonymous states, " who regurgitates the same old accusations day after day."

Accusations? Most of what is written on this blog is simply quoting what the turgid false teachers in the WELS have written and have publicly practiced in service to thier bellies. The wicked show no contrition when their deception is brought to light but deflect and attack. Take heart, most of your laity will still sit silently by while you flay the foundation of true faith from their children's bones.

John 10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"

What does it say when the Emergent WELS clergy say they hear Christ's voice in Baptist theology, New Age theology and Holy Spirit rejecting doctrines of Church Growthism.

1 Corinthians 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

You're welcome I.J. Reilly, I'm glad I'm a source of inspiration to a wimpy anonymous Shrinker such as yourself.

When my former LCMS congregation was experimenting with church growth, the spurious experts told us that all relgious truth has to be expressed in movies, movie clips and cartoons on the projection system. The assumption here is that people of the TV generation are moronic and have the attention spans of five year-olds and can't understand God's Word in a spoken sermon. I found that concept both wrong and insulting.

Since no one ever accused CORE of harboring intellectuals, Charlie Brown comes across as a good choice.
