ELCA's Southern Seminary has long been in financial straits, and relies on a big ELCA synod subsidy to operate. To help itself out, it diversified and has Baptist and Methodist Studies departments, catering to the locals (Columbia, SC). It's not surprising that it whole-heartedly endorsed the ELCA LGBT convention where lightning struck:

Friends of Lutherans Concerned will be interested in taking a look at the Columbia Declaration, a website founded by some members of the faculty (past and present) of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. The declaration takes its name from the location of the seminary, which is in the city of Columbia, South Carolina.
