"You do not need to be more evangelical than Jesus."
The point of his remark is this. The synodical leaders use the Gospel to pronounce forgiveness on the unrepentant, calling themselves "evangelical," as if they are full of the Gospel.
In fact, they are just taking the easy way out. Fortunately for them, the anti-Gospel of Universal Objective Justification gives them a foundation for their selective absolution. UOJ drives the marital and sobriety woes of the clergy who have been brainwashed into the absurdity of being born already justified.
The result is a bunch of Doctrinal Pussycats (all synods) who are utterly spineless and helpless in dealing with anything, but have no trouble issuing "kill on sight" orders to their minions when dealing with anyone who dissents from their malignant leadership.
I told one LCA pastor, who thought he could confront a bishop, "Do not keep that appointment. He looks like a nice guy. I worked with him. He cannot stand even the mildest confrontation. He will get even with you ten times over. Work out your exit plans first and leave. Otherwise you will be kicked out 10 minutes after your meeting."
Tis amazing how these helpless, powerless guys respond when someone gets them a little miffed. Their motto is, "May God have mercy on your soul, because I won't."
