Tower of Babel Under New Management -
No, Just a New Name
Scott E. Jungen has left a new comment on your post "The Valley of Ashes - On Ash Wednesday, Ron Ash Is...":
"I'll be baack", said the Terminator in the movie. My fear is that Church and Change will be back with the same old garbage under a new name.
I also fear they have disbanded because they believe their work is done. They've gotten a portion of the WELS to believe popcorn and Pepsi are just fine for a worship atmosphere. Now they believe they can move on to other things.

GJ - They got their hinies spanked, but good. Still, there is no repentance. If the money were shut off, they would be howling.
As long as false doctrine is not addressed in Missouri, WELS, or the Little Sect, nothing significant will happen.
Team Jackson was laughing about the contrast between the limited nastiness of corporate life, where there are rules and consequences, and the unlimited nastiness of the Olde Syn Conference.
One big loss in WELS is the passing of the fighting generation - men like Corky and Slick. They would talk to false teachers to their faces, not mincing words. Corky told the downtown Milwaukee pastors (who are all WELS leaders today) that they were "adulterers and false prophets."
When Slick showed up at The Guilt Factory, Ron Roth hid behind a divider, pretending to be gone. Slick said, "If he is not here, why are Ron Roth's feet behind that divider?" He loved telling that story. I did not know Corky, but Slick had a heart of gold.
The Shrinkers hated Slick and Corky. More on that later.

Question- Who did the Church and Change hinie spanking? I know, "believe' is spelled "ie". I'm trying to move beyond my WELS education.

Thank you for editing Dr. Jackson.

Church and Change had simply become a lightening rod for the rampant apostasy in the (W)ELS. It would be naive to believe that anything substantial has really changed just because Church and Change will no longer operate openly under that name. Two days ago there was a plethora of C&C supporters and enablers in the (W)ELS who had a common New Age Emergent agenda, loyalty and confession. MLC and MLS are full of C&C supporters who encouraged their students to participate in their "workshops" etc. There are even more (W)ELS clergy who either actively participated or looked the other way and condoned their actions.
The truth is that Church and Change produced nothing original within their group. It was all borrowed and adopted from the extremely well established Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal and New Age Emergent "ministries" and materials that plague the world today. Those same sources aren't going away with C&C. C&C was just the temporary mediator needed to introduce the Lutheran Synods to the New Age Emergent doctrines and practices. And now that they've sufficiently smothered faithful Christian discernment, disowned the Book of Concord and fostered a craving for "growth" at all costs, those infected in the (W)ELS will continue to go to their new sources for encouragement, resources and direction.
Unless the (W)ELS begins to deal with all doctrine and practice in public and open forums, testing it with Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions, false doctrine and practice will be allowed to continue to spread unabated within their denomination. And unless the Lutheran Synods return to Christ's central doctrine, the chief article of Christian faith, Justification by Faith Alone, rejecting the false man-made gospel of Universal Objective Justification, they will continue their downward spiral into the New World Religion and the church of the Antichrist. It is my hope and prayer that they will, by the grace of God, reject all false doctrine and practice and return to the faithful proclamation of Christ doctrine as Scripture declares and the Lutheran Confessions rightly explain.
Scott,
They are now moving on to invent new hype. They work on one hype after another. I saw this already when I was in Charismania.
They re-invent themselves by promoting a new fad when the previous one's novelty has worn off.
They are looking now probably for some new novelty to work up the sheep.
LPC
So true, LPC, so very true.
There's a warning here for Book of Concord fans. It's not outside the realm of possibility that liturgical style worship forms become the next novelty. "Look what we've had all along!" Then, when the novelty of that wears off, it's off to another fad.
Jeske went through his high church phase years ago, and he is the leader.
These people are so anti-Lutheran that they think the liturgy is the Antichrist.
They really believe nothing but their hype, so expect the worst and it will be even worse than that.
I believe Jeske boasted in his Concordia Mequon speech that at his church he was one of the first in the WELS to use a processional cross.
I noticed the last time that I was in NPH's store, just two weeks ago, that they didn't even have the Book of Concord on the shelves. What does that say? They used to have Chemnitz as well. Two weeks ago? Nope. (Plenty of copies of We Believe Therefore We Speak though...)
Granted their stock is dwindling as they take up more and more sales floor space to accomodate conference rooms and offices. Pretty soon they will have start selling with outdoor bookstands because the whole building will be taken up with conference rooms and offices. Sad. I remember when that sales floor was stocked floor to ceiling, now it is just a pale imitation at best. And there were more items filled with good solid Lutheran doctrine to be bought there than there are now.
