Intrepid Lutherans: Fraternal Dialogue on the Topic of "Objective Justification"
Intrepid Lutherans: Fraternal Dialogue on the Topic of "Objective Justification":
'via Blog this'
Over the weekend, I was monitoring the discussion taking place in our recent blog post, The WEB: A viable English Translation?, which had turned almost immediately from the issue of translations to that of “Universal Objective Justification.” This is due to the fact that the NNIV translates certain sections of the Bible in a way that is heralded by those who support and make propaganda for this teaching, much to the concern of those who question it.
More at the link - expect plenty of discussion.

I was over there a bit ago and gave it a skim. It is a Lindee post. Granted, Douglas is an intelligent guy and I will give the blog an honest read...and maybe even comment...but even my patience, who some have likened to Job is wearing thin. It is a familiar pattern at IL...when the questions drill down to where the rubber meets the road...Webber and Lindee swoop in and lay down the fog...maybe I'm wrong this time; Rydecki was at least allowed to be, well, intrepid.

Having read the post I found it to be a faithful confession concerning the true Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and rebuke of some of the recent false teachings being promoted by UOJists in the Lutheran Synods. It will be good to see the Intrepids continue such unashamed, open and public faithful confessions concerning the central doctrine upon which they, having by God's grace defended and taught purely, will stand and endure until the end.
In Christ,

Sweet potato and shut my mouth. I was a bit down on them on my previous post. That was one fine post. Now what will the mucky mucks up at HQ do with it? It flies in the face of the latest FiCL...
In summary, why UOJ is not Truth:
1) Supposed pro-UOJ Scripture references are quoted out of context.
2) Supposed pro-UOJ quotations by Church Fathers are either taken out of context or are so few in number as compared to "Justification by faith" references made by the same author that to say they are pro-UOJ quotes does injustice to the author's intended meaning (same goes for Scripture quotes, too).
3) Many logical fallacies when compared/contrasted to clear Scripture testimony.
On Intrepids David Jay Webber quotes Prof. Kurt Marquart (LCMS Fort Wayne Seminary) as saying, "No one actually has forgiveness unless and until he receives it by faith" (http://www.intrepidlutherans.com/2011/09/web-viable-english-bible-translation.html?showComment=1316848897659#c1890461651562544043). I'd like to see the reference to this quote.
Also, in the spirit of Joe's comment, I'd like to know how the "mucky mucks up at HQ" would deal with that if it were spoken by a WELS theologian? We know what happens to a WELS layman, right Joe? It seems in the LCMS you are able to co-exist. Not so much in WELS.
Well...LCMS has never been held in high regard in WELS...at least in all my past travels when I was a Welsian (all my life). I'm sure they were turned off by my repeated quotes/papers refuting their doctrine using LCMS theologians.
At least in my case, judgment was swift. What blows my mind is the duplicity that goes on...IL regarding justification by faith alone...Glaeske refusing to answer my question...Rick Techlin getting the boot...and then attending and communing at another WELS church...something has to give sooner or later...
Maybe it's time to change the title under My Blog List from "Faith-less Forgiveness" to...something better?
The Board of Directors will consider that motion during their 5 AM meeting tomorrow. Stay tuned.
I was already thinking about it.
