Coffee Is For Closers

He was pastor of the largest WELS parish in New Hampshire.
Was he selected to close MLS?

Blake: Put. That coffee. Down.
[pause
Blake: Coffee's for closers only.

And I quote:

"Pastor Joel Petermann has accepted the divine Call extended by the Governing Board of Michigan Lutheran Seminary to be the next president of the school.  Pastor Petermann will transition from his present pastorate at the only WELS congregation in New Hampshire, and from the presidency of the North Atlantic district of WELS.  We ask the Lord's blessings on his service."

Does anyone have an update on how the WELS district presidents are handling the fact that Time of Grace asked for and was granted RSO status ("stamp of approval") by the LC-MS?

Word on the street is that the Southeast Wisconsin District sees no problem with it and has reported that decision to the Conference of Presidents. Several on the COP, however, do have a problem with it and discussions continue.

"Update on Time of Grace: The praesidium of the Southeastern Wisconsin District provided a report to the Conference of Presidents describing its efforts to resolve questions involving the status of Time of Grace as a 'Recognized Service Organization' of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. While considerable progress has been made, the matter has not yet been fully resolved, and the Southeastern Wisconsin District Praesidium will continue its efforts to bring about a resolution." (MI District President’s Report p. 4, January 16, 2012, emphasis mine)

Re: Time of Grace.

Come on. Either you're in or you're out.

WELS & LCMS - a distinction without a difference.

Impotent or complicit - one or the other.

Compare how they deal with Tim Glende and 'Change or Die' Jeske to how they dealt with the Krohns who faithfully upheld Christ's doctrine of Justification. Glende and Jeske - we're working on it. Krohns - excommunicated!

LCMS taken to task by AiG cartoon for not giving Steve Jobs a Biblical answer to his question about suffering in the world:

Cartoon: Answers Steve Jobs should've gotten when he was 13 years old:

Bruce,

That is an informative piece.

Note that Buddhism does have an answer to suffering, it is called selfishness of man, but Buddha advocated that in order to rid of one's selfishness, he needs to be nothing, and he can do that by meditating. He advocated self salvation.

So I can buy into the piece's arguments, it is plausible the reason why Jobs became Buddhist.

I can see how LCMS can wiggle itself out of this, because all they have to do is pooh pooh Jobs and say he was an evil self serving man, that is, if Issues Etc broadcast is to be taken as a guide. They talked about him in one of their broadcasts and that seemed to be the theme.
