Population Implosion in Wittenberg

Wittenberg, where the LCMS is renovating the Old Latin School as a Lutheran visitors center, is experiencing a population implosion. Wittenberg is in Saxony-Anhalt. That state is expected to shrink in population by 15% or more between 2008 and 2025, since in the small towns it's mostly the elderly who are left as the young go to the cities, or to western Germany where the jobs are. Even the nearby state of Brandenburg, where Berlin is, is only experiencing a moderate growth in population of between 0% and 10% by 2025:
