Why Don't Lutheran Pews Rock with Laughter on Reformation Sunday?

"Reformation Sunday? Sign me up.
When does it start, Buchie?"

ELCA is loathe to celebrate Reformation Sunday, whether recognized yesterday or next Sunday. They often call it Reconciliation Day and struggle to invite Roman Catholic priests or Native American medicine men to the service, to enlighten them about all roads leading to God, all truths being God's truth.

But they should laugh at the Synodical Conference churches bragging about how superior they are to those liberal denominations that deny the truth of the Bible. They know Missouri openly works with their ordained women and gays on a host of projects, that WELS does the same in stealth mode. ELCA members could entertain themselves by visiting a WELS DP's congregation and saying in the greeter's line afterwards, "Aren't we on the same board together?" or "I think we met at that Fuller Seminary conference, when you agreed with us about ordaining anyone with a pulse."

Some additional lines for WELS would include, "And you believe in Scripture alone while approving and promoting the New NIV? No additions to the Word? Haha."

A Roman Catholic could say, to Missouri, WELS, or the ELS, "The only ones on the warpath against justification are your people. I know Catholic theologians who endorse justification by faith. You do everything short of burning at the stake for teaching Luther's doctrine."

Or - "You should rename this Sunday - Council of Trent Sunday - burn a few heretics."
