GJ - WELS is going after each parish to increase their pledges to pay for more financial disasters like selling a paid-for church at a choice location at the U of I. campus, going into rental, and starting over out of town.

Glende bullied everyone into it. Somehow the WELS mission people opposed it but went along with it, predicting the plan would fail.

Naturally, Glende saw how dumb his plan was - even before the building was finished. The offerings were not enough to support the high cost of the building, as the mission board had predicted. Tim said that was OK - they needed the building to grow. Even with his one-hour (1 hour) new members class, the parish did not grow.

He bailed out to go to St. Peter in Freedom, Wisconsin. $1.4 million budget, including the Wings for Jesus account.

Unbelievably, the boy wonder of Savoy soon became the senior pastor as Ron Ash (Church and Change chairman) bowed out and retired as the senior pastor.

So Tim was able to hire his best friend for life - Ski - and set up a fake separate parish to absorb even more WELS money: The CORE.

Before The CORE really started they had run through $250,000, according to another blog.

The cash grant to buy the bankrupt bar was something like $400,000. St. Peter holds the title and paid some of the money. They also got a WELS grant to kill the vermin and fumigate the place.

Any of you mission pastors get treated like that? Forgetting the parish that Glende destroyed and left - does any mission pastor get money and power like that and promoted for vast incompetence?

I know the Church and Changers get lovely female assistants with huge salaries, but the rest of the pastors get treated like dirt and kicked under the bus when convenient.

What do they have in common - Ski and Glende? - Mark Jeske.
