WELS Elderly Pastor Paul Kelm - Change or Die!
He Started an ELCA Congregation in His First Parish

Kelm was in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and I subbed for a WELS pastor there. That was Kelm's first parish, and he left a lot of problems behind, as I recall that pastor telling me. WELS Pastor Roger Zehms told a story about Kelm there. He drove somewhere to meet with a group of Lutherans and was conducting services there as one of the first stealth pastors, hiding the doctrine and denomination. The group looked into what he supposedly stood for - and they kicked him out. They became an LCA congregation and presumably are ELCA today. Zehms had a big laugh over that.
