Facebook UOJists Jump on Edward Preuss Quote - And Endorse It with Glee

When someone says, "hate the sin but love the sinner" you have to ask the question: Does the sin go to hell and not the unrepentant sinner?

Denton William White Ah yes, the simple biblical response to the ol' philosophical idealism. Good work Padre.

David R. Mueller You love the unrepentant sinner by preaching God's condemning Law to him, that he *might* repent.

Paul Beisel Chemnitz has a nice way of putting this. In the regenerate God hates the sin like a physician hates the disease in the patient. In the unregenerate he hates the sin to such an extent that he also hates and condemns the sinner.

Daniel Steven Maske I have to remember Jesus' attitude -- He FULLY knew our sin and loved us anyway.

So how do I love someone who I know is sinning? With patience, kindness, etc... as someone who also sins on purpose.

Gregory L. Jackson I am sure the whole Preus franchise loves it. Too bad Dr. Robert Preus refuted it completely. The quote is found in Justification and Rome, the one no Preus clan member has comprehended.

Gregory L. Jackson Too funny, Weslie Odom. Justification by Faith is from Luther, not Calvin.

Gregory L. Jackson Mark Preus - You love to evade the real point. Such smirking is not becoming when considering the Chief Article, which is not UOJ.

Mark Preus What is the real point you are making? That when one died for all all did not die? That when God didn't impute to the world their trespasses he still didn't regard them as righteous? That the use of terms never changed even when we are dealing with different threats to the pure doctrine?

Abby Smith Gregory L. Jackson "Preus franchise ... Preus clan member" ... I don't think that is very nice. I wish I could have been brought up in such a family. That sounds like jealousy talking.

Gregory L. Jackson Mark Preus The ELDONUTs have not joined me yet, not that I wish them too without a thorough and convincing act of contrition. That is the problem, Mark. You do not know the point of Justification by Faith. You have no idea about Biblical Lutheran doctrine, Instead, you repeat the trite slogans of Halle University that Bishop Stephan STD taught to your hero, CFW Walther, BA.
