Felt Like Rain - Predictors Kept Noping - Til It Broke Loose

Tyson's cat. Springdale is their world headquarters.

IBM's weather predicted no rain today, but 75 temps. From the morning on, the air felt like rain was coming anyway. I kept looking up the predictions, on two websites, Accu-weather my favorite. They joined the noping with IBM.

Sassy got her bath, unwillingly. I was writing and grading and answering email much later, when we seemed to be having loud machinery or construction going on. I looked out into the dark as a very rough thunderstorm broke loose with lightning, winds, and - a few minutes later - a Moliner asking on FB if I was OK.

That was stranger than reading about the KJV and finding a quotation from my Notre Dame classmate from 41 years ago. "No, not that Timmer!" Serious search - yes twas that Timmer. He went from ND's doctoral program to a teaching job in Pella, Iowa (yes, the windows, but what about classical Greece?). He stayed there 37 years and received an endowed chair.

He introduced himself at ND as being from the Christian Reformed Church. I asked, "True Dutch Reformed?" He and his wife lit up - "You know the history?" I knew they were the conservative counterpart of the Reformed Church in America. I wanted to turn from the computer and say, "Dave and Joy! You remember them from ND?"

Trouble-Shooting Vimeo - Save This for Links

It has come to my attention that some are having trouble with the live Vimeo broadcast. Let's start by calling up the latest post with a broadcast - it is saved and starts over again on the embedded player.

Here it is - the Mid-Week on December 8th

Left-click on the sprocket in the player (lower right) if the video is not working well. You may have too little of your bandwidth delivering the signal. Moving the quality down will not change the video much and it will be easier for the computer to digest all the data. The lowest level - (not the speed 2x, 3x) - is the one marked quality. The quality lowers down to 240, which makes the video a little blurry. You can pick levels above that.

You might also want to clear your browser history. The browser clutters up easily with video and all the graphics we have now.

If the live broadcast on the blog does not work, there are two places on Facebook and one on YouTube to get the newly saved version. That does not happen until the service is over and the file is converted and rated for all audiences, about 30 minutes after the service is over.

Here are the three places you will find it saved, 30 minutes after the service is over:

Facebook - BethanyLutheranWorship,TLH,KJV

Facebook - GregJackson1966 - with the whole service, sermon, hymns, etc, from the blog.

YouTube - GregoryJackson Channel

Phone me or write me about problems. We were there early with Ustream, thanks to Brett Meyer, and did 900 videos with them - and had some problems. Vimeo is 100x more complex, in some ways, and we will learn how to use it effectively.

Two Approaches to the Scriptures - ELCA-ELDONA-LCMS-WELS-ELS-CLC Forced the Wrong Standard!

"No other Gospel" in Galatians 1:9 has become "Pick your favorite version of the Gospel" among the Lutherans.

Except for the KJV, no other Bible is going to remain the same for more than a year or two. They are in constant flux. If the reader thinks the New KJV is tolerable or even good because it mimes the KJV, think again. The constant references to the Nestle-Aland-United Bible Society falsely argue that the Tischendorf-Westcott-Hort readings (noted as NU) come from faithful, honest, scholars. The M footnotes are for the Majority Text - how patronizing! This compromising style - from the for-profit NKJV company - is more like "Two Possible Gospels."

Someone can call me KJV-Only but that is far better than the Lutheran professors and leaders who are KJV-Never. Their bitter tirades against the KJV are an affront to the English language - as one of the two pillars of our fair tongue.*

The alternatives to the Greek New Testament - passed down by the apostles through the Majority Text - are snipped, clipped, watered down, and negated by the for-profit companies and the monopolizing Tischendorf-Hort fascists. Do they footnote their monstrosities with "The apostles taught..." or "The KJV reads..."? Hardly. They are Nida-Only, because Nida-Best would suggest another approach.

WELS and the LCMS are quite agreeable about climbing into bed with ELCA, especially when paid lavishly by Thrivent for the fornication. But the two sects cannot harmonize their English Bible selections. WELS was NIV-Only long ago, and fought like piranhas recently for the New NIV. Missouri has adopted the defecation of the National Council of Churches, the ESV - whose Biblical chairman is or was a Calvinist. They usually die as Unitarians.

The modernists - synods listed in the headline - tolerate thousands of errors and omissions in their text and paraphrases (Nida's "dynamic equivalence" moonshine). They point their soiled fingers at the KJV and screech, "But there are a few problems with that one."

If the Lutheran professors and leaders realized the depth of their betrayals, they might think again about their support of bad Bibles and worse dogma.

* The other pillar of the English language is Shakespeare, better known as the Earl of Oxford.

Not Every KJV Book Is a KJV Book

The new arrivals (books) came today - three of them. One is a Letis book from Baker Book House. Another is The King James Version at 400, a massive paperback. A promising name? Yes.

The book was published by the Journal of Biblical Literature, an egghead-funhouse for apostates, and the Nida Institute for Fractured Paraphrases.

I thought, "There may be loose nuggets of gold anyway." Wrong! My time with that book was not wasted, because the other side always gives something away when making its move. I learned that from Nimzowitsch's chess book. Every move threatens the opposition but also creates a weakness.

Every positive statement about the KJV included a smack in the face. Sure it was good, but not that good, and really "not up to our standards."

In discussing the Church Growth fever of WELS-LCMS-ELCA-ELS-CLC (sic), I always found the direct quotations from Fuller and its bumblehead Lutheran followers to be the choicest. Oh, did that ever make the WELS bumbleheads howl with rage! One WELS pastor, more moved by the spirits than the Spirit, threw one of my CG essays in a fury and seemed to use a crude word. Thus affirmed and confirmed, I used it as the last chapter of Liberalism: Its Cause and Cure, published originally by WELS, a hot seller too.

One can see that the KJV-never crowd is spooked by the Majority Text and the English version of the Luther Bible, the Tyndale KJV.

Imagine how the synodical book sellers would fare if people knew they promoted books that were based on the frauds, forgeries, and lies of Tischendorf, Westcott, Hort, Nestle, Aland, and Nida.

The thousands of manuscript finds prove that the Majority Text is apostolic, the modernist texts a leaning Towel of Babel. Like tourists staring at the Pisa Leaning Tower, we wonder why it - the Modernist Bible - has not yet fallen down.

The ESV is butchered - the RSV is butchered - the NRSV is butchered, but not all the same way. Their texts do not agree among themselves. The only thing they have in common is the National Council of Marxist Churches ownership. The NIV was owned by Rupert Murdoch and sold to another profiteer.

The KJV is still so treasured and the modernists fight for the scraps. The Lutheran sects stick with their bad choices and disagree about which paraphrase is the least bad. Missouri favors the NCC-ESV. WELS favors the Murdoch-stained NIV.

Tischendorf declared Sinaiticus (Aleph) to be
1500 years old, but the vellum (leather) was white and supple...at first.

Aleph was conveniently made the first in the list of manuscripts.

David W. Daniels - Who Faked "The World's Oldest Bible?

This is full of details and background information about how Codex Sinaiticus was "found" and promoted by Tischendorf. Everything points to forgery. After all, the forger admitted it in a long letter to a London newspaper.

Daniels - Look What's Missing

The more we see what the modernists have removed from the New Testament, the more we realize what a scam they are running with the ESV, RSV, NRSV, NIV.

Daniels is well informed about Eugene Nida's destructive work against the text and Nida's "dynamic equivalence" paraphrases (ESV, RSV, NRSV, NIV, etc etc).

Edward Freer Hills finished his PhD at Harvard after the University of Chicago blocked him.

Edward Freer Hills - The King James Version Defended

Hills had a stellar education at Yale and Harvard in languages and the text, but the modernists shut him down. He tutored the late T. Letis (below).

Here is a good site with a lot of Letis material and videos.

Theodore Letis - The Ecclesiastical Text

Letis' book has some insightful reviews of other books, plus some rather heavy slogging on text criticism.

Wilbur N. Pickering - clear and convincing

Wilbur Pickering - The Identity of the New Testament Text

This is the most readable book on the list. You do not need coffee to wake you up about the apostates trashing of the Majority Text and KJV.

  1. I pick Pickering as the best place to start,
  2. David Daniels as the author with the most books on these topics (all very readable),
  3. Fuller as another collector of excellent Biblical, translation, and historical essays.

 David Otis Fuller

David Otis Fuller - Wheaton College, Princeton Seminary, WWII Navy Chaplain, collected conservative essays by various authors, all instructive, worthwhile, and easy to follow

Which Bible? - a series of articles about the Greek text, Dean Burgon, the Majority (Traditional) Text, Westcot-Hort's theories, the Catholic influence, and the Jesuits.

Counterfeit or Genuine Mark 16? John 8?

Burgon chapters on Mark 16 and John 8, another chapter on Mark 16, essay about Burgon.

True or False?

Article include: Pickering about Burgon, Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, the failed Revision of the KJV,

If you see one or two you would like to have, the KJV Project already has funds to send it free.

I need your address and phone number for ordering. Send your request to greg.jackson.edlp@gmail.com

You may order more from the list, but not all at once.

KJV Exodus 3 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

2 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.

4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.

10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?

12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.

13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?

14 And God said unto Moses, I AM That I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

KJV John 8:52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.

53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?

54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:

55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.

56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.

59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Christ in the Old Testament

Students pick a book and describe it, including its characters and main events. If they pick Exodus, I point out the presence of Christ in one place after another starting with Exodus 3.

Another way of looking at it is this - The Gospel of John is a commentary on the Books of Moses. The other Gospels are too, in a way, but I find John especially so. The bronze serpent always bothered me, It is so vivid and so strange. Numbers 21:8-9.

That seems to go against basic Biblical wisdom. But the people were wicked and God sent poisonous serpents to assail them. The cure was a bronze serpent raised up.

KJV John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This is very important to consider at Christmas because we can see that everything was put in place before it happened, often thousands of years in advance. This is not simply true in one place in the Old Testament but throughout the Old Testament. That is why it is so important to see both Testaments together, interwoven, and completely in harmony.

The rationalists make all the Promises disappear and like mischievous birds, replace something of value with a cheap token. They are like the birds saying, "See I am smarter than you." The rationalists - who are often bishops and professors and district presidents - think some soothing Pablum will make everyone cozy and warm. They try their truisms and platitudes and show their wrath when someone challenges them about the Word itself.

God promised He would preserve His Word, so it is appalling that God's Word is chiseled away, corrupted, and denied in subtle and obvious ways. But those people are the fools, because God's Word has power in rejection, just as it does in reception.

Reception means receiving, welcoming God's Word. There are many puzzling passages, which we may not comprehend until later in life. However, we have to school ourselves in the Scriptures to understand more and more. Some have said about all of our congregation's output - "I have learned things I never understood before." Graduate students in Old Testament have said the same. The reason is - Luther's work on the Word itself being explored, quoted, repeated, and illustrated.

The Word teaches the Word and illuminates the so-called dark passages (which mystify us). I never grasped the Canaanite woman being denied, even humiliated in that miracle. One day I  saw how she became the example of someone who seems to get no relief, no answer for her child, only what looks like mockery in silence, and finally the put-down when she says to herself what Jesus said to the mother - Who are you to ask such a thing? The mother says in that miracle, "Yes even the little dogs eat the crumbs from the Master's table." Total faith, total reliance on the grace of God in Jesus Christ.

That should tell us that each tough or mysterious passage, and each time we are baffled by bad news extended over time - God will answer.

The Power of the Dog

 - 1865-1936

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie—
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find—it’s your own affair—
But… you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!).
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone—wherever it goes—for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept ’em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long—
So why in—Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Observations from Another Layman

 Irrelevant hamster - but cute.

Hello Pastor Jackson

I just watched your video "Two Approaches to the Biblical Text". The audio and sound quality was good. The video froze several times, this may be related to my connection speed. I reduced the quality from 1080p to 360p and this ended the freezes.

In the video you made the observation that Vaticanus and Sinaiticus are deemed by modernists as the only reliable source-texts for the Bible, yet there are many differences between the two codices.

I believe the many differences are part of their appeal to liberal Protestant and Roman Catholic scholars. Both Rome and liberals have an interest in propagating the idea that the Bible is fully of errors and inconsistencies, and hence there is a need for "experts" (the majesterium of the RC church and liberal text-critics among Protestants) to reveal to Christians what the Bible "really says". Compare this to the Majority Text, which has a consistent historical background.

Attacks on the principle of the Biblical inerrancy have been part of RC church policy since the Council of Trent. What better way for the RC church to destroy Biblical inerrancy (and sola scriptura) than to concoct two very different Bibles, deem them the oldest and most reliable source-texts, and lure liberal Protestant scholars into accepting them.

Any document produced by the RC church should be suspect, given the RC church's 1500 year history of shamelessly forging source-texts.

 Thanks for all you do,

Now and the Future -- The Bible Book and the Sequels

The Bible Book series will include John's Gospel - the I AM Sermons, Acts, Letters of Paul, the Pastorals, and the Catholic Epistles.

The interest in supporting the King James Version led me into a second edition of The Bible Book: The KJV Reborn for Those Who Love the Word of God. I am glad that developed because I had to chance to build up a lot more books about the KJV's origin and qualities, and also about text criticism from both sides - Majority New Testament Text versus the Forgeries called Vaticanus and Sinaiticus. Proof of the fakery is easy to consider - they are 1500 years old and have no children.

In contrast - this is rich - recent discoveries and some ignored facts point to the Majority Text going back to the Apostles. The claim has been, "The KJV Majority Text is late and therefore corrupt." By corrupt, they mean the verses, phrases, and words removed in the "scientific" editing promoted by Tischendorf, Westcott-Hot, and Nestle-Aland-UBS

The early church fathers were using the Majority Text and they kept copying new generations of New Testaments because they wore out the originals.

In contrast, we are to believe that Vaticanus (held by the forgery-friendly Vatican) and Sinaiticus (another Catholic op) were 1500 years old and still usable, though nobody copied them. It is like saying that one man overwhelmingly won the electoral vote, so the contest was given to the guy who could not get more than a dozen to hear him live. Something is wrong there...too.

The differences between faith in Jesus Christ and disguised atheism are there. What passes for intellectual study of the Word is nothing more than a smokescreen to hide some frightened wizards who shout, "You have not studied obscure matters for decades, so you cannot judge our constantly changing Bible Juggernaut, which enables us to sell our ever-evolving Bibles, which funds our conferences and fellowships and awards and trips and honors and promotions.
