As I read this blog I was in awe of how well Satan has a hold of everyone posting. Instead of taking a loving Christian approach to the posting of this video (which is exactly what our Lord and Savior commands of us) I see bickering, acusing (sic), defending, ect (sic).. I can see Satan sitting back and enjoying his handywork (sic)that he has caused each and every one of you to respond with. GJ...God has put you in a place to respond with his Grace and Love. Please pray that you use your possiton (sic) wisely. Too much time and blogging has been use (sic) in a sinful way to attack. Where does God tell us to attack? Watch and pray least ye fall into temptation. I am just as sinful as the worst. But He has made me as great as The best. The fellows that made that video should be admonished as God would have it. Privately!!! He tells us that. I dont (sic) think that everyone here realizes that continuing to talk about the sins of another and put in there (sic) "2 cents" is breaking the Commandments of out Faith. I think we all need to Pray for these individuals privately and with a honest and loving heart that they will see the errors of their ways and correct the mistakes they have made with their Lord. No one had the right to insinuate, mock, blame, these individuals...I beleive (sic) the culmination of this is called "JUDGING" which not a one of us has the right to do. WAUNAKEE — A couple of months ago, St. Andrew Lutheran Church wanted to do something different to attract parishioners, especially those put off by the rituals and trappings of traditional churches.
So it ripped up its pews and filled the sanctuary with an eclectic mix of earth-tone love seats, sleek armchairs and coffeehouse tables.
The communion rail came down, and the pulpit went out the door, replaced by a stone-slab table with a base made from a neighbor's fallen tree. The newly added cappuccino machine and coffee grinder look just like the ones at Kwik Trip — indeed, they were donated by Kwik Trip.
So it ripped up its pews and filled the sanctuary with an eclectic mix of earth-tone love seats, sleek armchairs and coffeehouse tables.

"There are plenty of churches in Waunakee and plenty of Christians who already have churches in Waunakee. We wanted to target the people who aren't churched," said Kristen Koepsell, worship director.
This relaxed approach, in which God doesn't care about your posture or your caffeine addiction, has taken hold in numerous churches, although St. Andrew may be taking it to a new level. Many churches now offer at least one service with a looser, more conversational format, often involving a live band.
"There's a trend toward people being more interested in approaching the spiritual and sacred on their own terms," said Robert Glenn Howard, a UW-Madison associate professor in communication arts and religious studies.
This suggests a de-emphasis on the institutional components of religion, including the formal setting itself, Howard said. The Internet is fueling part of this change. People expect their voices to be heard — they're used to contributing to online forums — so there's a shift away from a top-down, centralized approach, he said.
"It's all part of the idea that the most important thing is for the individual to connect with the divine, and it doesn't really matter if you do that with a 19th-century hymn or a rock 'n' roll song," Howard said.
The Waunakee church, 5757 Emerald Grove Lane, was built in 1990 as Lord and Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church. But the congregation never really took off. "We weren't reaching out into the community very well," said Dick Bernards, a former president.
So two years ago, St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Middleton took over the church's assets and began operating it as a satellite location with the same name.
St. Andrew is now considered one congregation with two buildings. This gave church leaders the opportunity to try something different in Waunakee without risking a lot, said the Rev. Randy Hunter, who serves both churches.
"It's not intended to be disrespectful of anyone's desire to worship in a more formal setting, but we know that for many people, that's just not their thing," he said.
The Middleton location continues to hold a traditional worship service, while the Waunakee site experiments with a laid-back structure.
Hunter's sermon is videotaped at an early Sunday service in Middleton, then broadcast on large screens later in the morning at Waunakee. After the sermon concludes, Waunakee parishioners talk about it in small groups, then a layperson brings them back together for a brief discussion.
The congregation's motto is "Casual about church, serious about God." Communion is still offered every week.
"The message is the same, it's just repackaged in a way that may be a little more inviting for some people," Hunter said.
Gene Berg, a founding member of Lord and Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, said he likes a traditional worship service but is giving the casual approach a try. He appreciates that prayers and religious readings are still part of the Waunakee service.
"I'm getting there. I'm warming up to it," he said.
St. Andrew spent about $40,000 on the remodeling, including the services of a professional design consultant. Many parishioners pitched in, including Sarah Homan, who helped select the contemporary furniture by visiting local coffeehouses and Barnes & Noble.
Inspiration for the stone table with the tree-trunk base came from a desire to replicate the simplicity of ancient worship services, Homan said. "We really went back to the Bible, to books from Genesis to Revelation that talk about wood and stone altars," she said.
In many ways, the changes are a return to basics — the opposite of a modern approach, Hunter said. "It's keeping it real. You can't hide behind a pulpit or a robe."
The Waunakee sanctuary seats 65 and so far has been averaging about 50 people each Sunday, including some unfamiliar faces.
"Personally, I'll gauge our success by how many new people come through the door who haven't been going to a church," Hunter said. "If it becomes a place where current members just want to hang out because it's cool, then I don't think we will have succeeded."

This comment is for Pastor GJ and the orthodox Lutheran(LCMS?)lady who commented on your sermon post. I understand that she wants information reguarding he Reformation Seminar and the Hoenecke election controversy/study. A WELS pastor-professor is leading the instruction. I would like to attend, and my pastor was encouraging me so do so. Either way , I will provide Pastor GJ with the study information.

For the record, I personally don't think spelling is an "MLC" problem. It's a problem with this generation in general.
Spelling is done for you on any word processing program and no one writes by hand anymore.
I do a lot of online journalism and am constantly confronted with college graduates who can't spell, punctuate, or complete a sentence.
However, the most troubling is a lack of proofreading. People need to understand that you can't make a reasonable argument if no one takes you seriously thanks to a one-paragraph wonder full of mistakes.
On the flip side, perhaps all us perfectionists could take a moment and see what people are saying rather than making fun of their inability (or probably laissez faire attitude) about grammar.

I stand corrected about bad spelling being somewhat universal. From the few blogs and forums that I have been on, I have noticed this as well. Also, failure to proofread may be a main contributor to this problem. In all fairness, it is just plain common sense to think before you post. For the benefit of those who think that the regular contributors on Ichabod are unloving, you ought to read the flaming that goes on, unmoderated, on many blogs.

In attacking his spelling you are doing nothing but publicly defaming and mocking this student. You can't use Luther's 8th commandment explanation to defend this type of mockery. It is a plain and simple ad hominem attack aimed squarely at his character. Now, if you were addressing the sin (his defense of an indefensible video), rather than seeking to destroy someone's character (making him look worse, while at the same time stroking your own ego), that might be a defensible approach.
You, however, decided to jump into the muddy waters of character defamation, attacking the character (in this case, his inability to spell just about any word correctly) and not his sin. It makes one wonder whether you really care about addressing sin, or rather simply enjoy tearing down others in order to bloat your own feelings of self-importance.
Time to see some repentance with contrition from you sir. You like to talk about it a lot. How about you model it? (Or are you one of those "do as I type, not as I do" kind of people).
Hey last anonymous, Dr. Jackson points out that the WELS has a spelling problem not for the nefarious reasons you cite, but because the WELS ministerium and teacherdom need to know they have a problem with spelling, more so than other professional groups. Unfortunately, those in a position to see the mass of spelling mistakes were educated in the WELS, so their spelling and grammar leave something to be desired, and just make fools of themselves if they point the problem out. So thank God we have someone educated outside the WELS who sees the problem and knows spelling and grammar, and is willing to call a spade a spade despite all the ad hominem attacks he gets when he points it out. No wonder the WELS never reforms itself.
God will judge you just like the rest of us, Greg Jackson. Keep it real.
