GJ - People used to make fun of the Assemblies of God for bribing kids into coming to church. Valleskey's pal Radloff was the mission counselor for this area.
Who might the sponsoring pastor be? Doebler? Doebler? I have read that name before.

Yes, you have read the name before. Except this is Brian Doebler, not Matt. A few things Pastor GJ(or other ichabodian source that wasn't me) did not mention was the previous name for Christ Alone was Grace Alone. It was one of those "ninth hour" changes. During the building phase, DP Pastor Glaeske sent out bulletine inserts titled An Appeal From President Glaeske. GJ knows I keep all bulletine inserts and here are a few paragraghs from some short months ago:
"What i am suggesting to you by no means of this bulletin insert is that among us there may be 100 or more folks who are able to give a one-time gift of $500.00 for this mission outreach. This added to the amount already gathered in the congregation will enable the congregation to carry on the work which they have begun and give assistance to Pastor Doebler."
"There may be some who would like to participate but ar not able to give $500.00. Any gift that you are moved to give would please our dear Lord Jesus and be gratefully received by Immanuel. Obviously 500 of us giving $100.00 Would accomplish the same goal."
Nope! I was not able to give $500.00. This carnival business aside, Christ Alone is a traditional church and not some quasi-WELS Core/Crosswalk/Contemporary experiment. I will, however, be keeping my eyes open.
In Christ,
from WELS church lady
