Snowbound in Milwaukee

Who needs another snow photo?

rlschultz has left a new comment on your post "Snowbound in Bella Vista":

Now that was an adventure! You have to love those big cruisers like the Ichaboat. We had 24 inches of snowfall in about a 12 hour period, and it all happened at night. It set a record for our city. Initially, in the aftermath, the only motorized vehicles that could travel were ATV's and snowmobiles. You to wait until daylight and the wind to stop. The gusts were up to 50 mph and the visibility was reduced to zero. Even the big snow plows and fire trucks were getting stuck when they were trying to rescue the foolhardy ones who thought that they could drive in it.

My apologies for the lack of clarification. Here in Racine County, just south of Milwaukee, is where the record snowfall occurred. Also, the photo is very appropriate. Many residents made sure that they enough beer to make it through the storm. The gossip from law enforcement was that some of those who were stranded in their vehicles were tavern patrons who attempted to go home several hours late.

While Racine had it worse, believe me when I tell you that we Milwaukeeans didn't doge any bullets. I was outside snowblowing at 3 AM. By that point the snow drifts were about twice as high as the machine.

The worst part was the 50 mph winds, which blew the snow everywhere. The snow from the roofs piled in the driveways. Our porch still has about 4 feet of snow on it. I managed to make a small path for the mailman to get to the front door, but that was as far as I got with that mess.

That is correct, Mr. Baker. With the 50 mph winds, the difference between 18 inches and 22 inches of snow is a rather academic argument.
