At Home in the Purple Palace:
Head-Faking the Conservatives

The LCMS replaced Kieschnick with Matthew Harrison, wafted on a wave of nostalgia about good ol' CFW Walther. If only the Missouri Synod could get back to those days of kidnap, robbery, and hand-picked mobs!

Artful Dodger says that Missouri pastors do not adore Walther as much as I claim. I am aiming at the Bronze Age pastors who buy Walther statues and make pilgrimages to his shrine. No other Lutheran sect gets so carried away with a usurper founder.

According to Missouri Synod opinion, the only divine call is a call to a congregation. Paul McCain, Harrison's devoted campaign manager, has artfully dodged a parish call for 20 years. Therefore, he is not a Missouri pastor and should not impersonate one. Nevertheless, Harrison chose the blogger gun-nut to preach an installation sermon in the Purple Palace, with various synod brass in the audience. Apparently all the parish pastors were too busy to preach.

McCain just had to post a photo of himself in clergy regalia, preaching at the service. So I am asking Syn Conference loyalists - Do you think Hopeless (Moldstad), Helpless (Schroeder), or Hapless (Harrison) will rescue the situation?
