"Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman asked the county coroner to examine the body of Cardinal Anthony J. Bevilacqua last week because the timing of the 88-year-old prelate's death struck her as "peculiar," she said Friday.
Ferman acknowledged that she enlisted county Coroner Walter I. Hofman because the cardinal died one day after a Philadelphia judge said Bevilacqua could be called to testify at the child sex-abuse and endangerment trial of three current and former priests."

That's similar to how Coach Joe Paterno died just a couple months after the Penn State scandal erupted, but from cancer. In that same case, a district attorney who failed to investigate Sandusky a decade before killed himself in 2005 or so, or at least they assume it was suicide.

There was a convenient murder, long ago, in Chicago, when the Archdiocese was facing a ferocious scandal over pedophilia. The victim's dog went crazy when priests in their clerics showed up afterwards. But that was a co-inky-dink.
