District President Story Time « Light from Light:

District President Story Time
April 16, 2012 by Rick
Child:  “District President, would you tell me a story?”

District President:  “Sure.  What story would you like to hear?”

Child:  “I would like to hear the story about the boy who cried wolf.”

District President:  “There was a boy watching the sheep.  Once, he cried, ‘wolf!,’ but no one came because they believed that wolves were extinct.  Then the the mayor became very upset, and had the town council throw the boy out of town.

“And they all lived happily ever after, except the boy who was eaten by a large angry dog.”

Child:  “Hmm, that large angry dog sounds just like a wolf!”

District President:  “And the moral of the story is, we should always put the best construction on everything, and never cry ‘wolf!’”

Pastor emeritus Nathan Bickel has left a new comment on your post "District President Story Time « Light from Light":

As I read this Ichabod posting, the following Scriptures came to mind:

Numbers 32:23 _ "......But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out."

***

GJ - The moral of the story is - Obey the rules laid down by the WELS hierarchy (contrary to the Word of God) and you will be excommunicated. In fact, the DP will skip the meeting he promised to attend. His district will re-elect him. The Intrepids will silence themselves at the district meeting.

And they wonder why false teachers are gaining all the time.

Jeremiah 23:24 - "....Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD...."

Mark 4:22 - "....For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad...."

Eph 5:11-13 - "....And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light...."

The charge which is often brought by both unbelievers and believers alike, who feel uncomfortable with some stark realities, is that those who make mention of and / or disseminate what is (already) public, - they are being uncharitable; not "putting the best construction of everything,” and, thus, [supposedly] "sinning against the 8th Commandment.”

These superficial charges are often brought by those who don't understand the aforementioned Scriptures and conveniently overlook the reality that these sins are already public.

Also, those who feel squeamish of those exposing such (public) information should be careful not to judge those who do. They are the same type who only view the one gift of the Spirit, listed in Romans 12, to be "encourage," and don't care to understand that the gift can also be the gift of "exhort" and "rebuke," such as the thief did on the cross, next to Christ, in answer to the other thief, who railed against Christ.
