The former District Pope (WELS) was Glaeske, who actually spoke against the NNIV at the WELS convention.
Glaeske supposedly waited to retire, to give someone else a chance to be DP instead of Don Patterson. That did not work out.
Patterson has built his network of free vicars - thanks to WELS offering money - for many years. On one hand, his parish has so much money that he can go on safaris. But they are so po' that the Holy Word vicar is free each year.
But they are so rich they could hand over a $40,000 fee to start another congregational site almost next door to Matt Doebler in Round Rock. The fee was for the fund-raising business started by Ron Roth.
Since Patterson is a Church and Change die-hard, a Mark Jeske disciple, and a frequent flyer to Schwaermer conferences like Exponential, he is the perfect WELS Doctrinal Pussycat.
Elections are not much of a help, are they?
