Organ Transplants and Church Music

The pipe organ at St. John Lutheran Church in Milwaukee
should be played 16 hours a day -
it is a musical treasure.

This week a Missouri Synod church got rid of their custom-made pipe organ, cheap, to make way for their praise band and coffee bar.

Some Evangelicals were overhead saying, "We don't need another pipe organ donated here. They are so last century."

One of the Bethany members asked, "Why do you use The Lutheran Hymnal?"

The short answer is - "It is the best one. Do you agree?"

She did.

Why only 16???

Actually, the Evangelical Lutheran Hymnary, is the best available hymnbook available. ELH has improved the music of the old page 5, page 15, rites and, most importantly, it retains the Bugenhagen order.

If this congregation doesn't want their organ, I know of a congregation that will take it.

Someone is using that donated organ, but I know they are out there for the taking. I suggest using an ad or the Net to get one. The big problem is moving it and rebuilding it.
