WELS - "Our Great Heritage" - Bullying for Over a Century

"You are not going to bully me, you big fat coward."

Trevor has left a new comment on your post "Ecclesia Augustana: WELS to Porth: Tear Down Your ...":

Legalistic coercion of students has been a long-standing practice for Jeffrey Schone so this shouldn't come as a surprise.

My great-grandfather, Rev. Christopher Heidenreich, a German immigrant, was ordained in the Michigan Synod in 1895. In 1909, he was vice-president of the Michigan Synod, which was in fellowship with Wisconsin and ultimately swallowed up by them. In 1909, Wisconsin was in the process of trying to close the Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw. This was seen as a heavy-handed approach by Wisconsin to gain more control over the Michigan Synod. My great-grandfather met with Francis Pieper in 1909 in Detroit. Pieper was the president of the LCMS at that time. This one meeting, considered in a very negative light by the leadership of Wisconsin, led to his being immediately removed from fellowship with Wisconsin and as V.P. of Michigan. He and my congregation (which he served for 50 years) were then independent for 15 years, finally joining the Missouri Synod ...and most of lower Michigan followed suit, explaining at least in part why lower Michigan is mostly LCMS.

GJ - This blog helps people to see that they are not alone in being bullied and abused by WELS. Every time someone questions Holy Mother WELS, whack!

Who put a Fuller Seminary D.Min. in charge of "lay ministry," so WELS could develop a list of women? Martin Luther College.

A long list could follow, including identical behavior in the toxic CLC (sic).

Bullying in a church body shows that their infallible leaders are unbelievers. They are pretty stupid, too. Buchholz and Shone have turned local issues into national discussions simply because they thought they were still in GA - the secret WELS hazing ritual at Mequon.
